I think companies should have both a simple AND a detailed logo. So depending on the situation they can choose which one to use and everyone will be satisfied and won’t have to look at the same few boring shapes every second
I feel that is the case with HP and Sailor, they both use multiple logos, the hp in this video is only on some laptops to match the style. With Sailor they use the "long S" logo on metal components, the "casio-like" logo for most things and the "thin" logo as their official brand identity one.

I really loved those late 90s early 2000s logos. Overly detailed sure, but they seemed like the big budget version of the old logo. Instead of just flattening it.
It's all cyclical...I think. Though I'd say in the 90s/2000s we really had more hard edges, more serif fonts...we played around a bit more. When I think over-complex I think of engraved illustrations and the like of the early 20th century. We could easily somehow see that again. (Probably not.)
To be honest, I still prefer 2000's style logos. Part of it is nostalgia, part of it is just being sick of modern design trends, and part of it is the fact that these logos actually had much more character than modern logos, even if I know what the purpose of a logo really is.
I hard disagree on the HP and GO logos I think they're awful. It's just nonsensical shapes. I think a logo should also be discernable to someone who is not already intimately familiar with the brands. I see those 2 logos and have absolutely no idea wtf they're trying to represent or convey in the slightest and I actually got the HP one after a few seconds trying to figure out what the hell it is.

Hey Alax! As a graphic designer I love that you made this video. I wanted to add that I think a part of the problem might be schooling as well. When I was getting my degree the professors focused on us using very clean modern fonts and that led most of us using Helvetica or Gotham and some other plain sans serif fonts. They wanted the creativity to come from what we can do with the type rather than choosing fonts that fit the subject we were working with.

why can't you guys overcome the 2000, sometimes you need to remember these logos aren't in a vacuum, they are together in desktops or in shops, and the old over detailed logos where a visual nightmare when put together
