    I’m really jelly you have a local community playing Bolt Action. I really like the game. Both “lore” wise and as far as the rules are concerned. But don’t have anyone to play against since before the unspecified virus of unknown origin. :(

    Loving the fact you bought a Tiger, amazing you found a way to use it in a thousand point game. I think it's a fantastic tank but such a point sink. And again AT isn't the biggest threat to heavy armour, it's HE. I'd just pin that thing to hell and back while annihilating your outnumbered infantry, but then again it is just a fun list and I doubt anyone would expect such a beast in a standard game.
    Also I've seen some pictures of your tournament, so light on terrain. It's why I think you rate tanks so highly, most of the boards I've been fighting on are packed with ruined buildings, roads with choke points to fighter over, hedges, line of sight blocking walls. Really changes the game.

      I agree about the terrain. I doubt if most of us would really want an open playing environment. Last game I played was Glider Assault - needs to be open to avoid crashes - but no cover apart from the glider can (did!) hamper the Paratroops. I played a Tiger once - a hit in the first round silenced his only threat, the rest of the game it was a very expensive twin mmg pillbox!

      @@bazza1carter I have a tiger and it's only shined in larger games. Because you're right, it's to many eggs in one basket. Potentially one shot and half your armies gone.

    I have planned a Bolt Action US list. It contains a First Lieutenant (whose weapon I have not yet decided on but will probably be a Carbine or SMG) and a single soldier to assist him; 3 squads of Veteran Infantry, with NCO armed with Rifle, 9 Infantry armed with Rifles, 2 infantry armed with BARs, all squad members armed with anti-tank grenades and given Tough Fighters; a Veteran Medium Machine Gun Team; a Veteran Medium Mortar Team; a Veteran M4A1 Sherman; 3 Veteran M3 Halftracks; and a Veteran Jeep.

    • @dannyhalas9408
      @dannyhalas9408 2 года назад

      Ok I can give you some friendly advice on your list,
      Don't take anti-tank grenades, they're next to useless. You need to get close enough to the stationary tank and roll a lot of four pluses, I've almost never seen them work and nobody ever brings them. Use the points to get a bazooka team or a artillery piece. A veteran medium mortar again is a waste of points, take them as regular with a spotter. The idea is unless something goes terribly wrong there won't be getting shot at anyway because they can remain well hidden while the spotter gives them targets.
      You could also shave some points off by not taking a veteran jeep or veteran half tracks, the Americans have the superior communications rule which sort of makes it pointless to take veteran transports. Because they come in from reserve without the minus one anyway. Find the points for the gyro stabilisers on the Sherman, it's a major reason to bring one at veteran.
      With so many veteran infantry I'd highly recommend bringing along a medic, he only has to revive two guys in the game to get his points back and it's a cheap dice in the bag which your hyper elite force desperately needs.
      You don't necessarily have to listen to me, bolt action is an incredible game and you'll probably work this all out for yourself.

      Oh and if you're in the UK I could happily send you the bazooka parts if that would help your list.

      @@dannyhalas9408 so the way I currently have the Sherman built is with the Gyrostabilizers. The Medium Mortar Team does currently have a spotter. Here's a PDF of the list. I built it so I can get an idea of what to spend my money on before I buy.

    1200 I run 3 Veteran Panzergrenadiers 2/ 10 man squads and a 8 man one load outs are similar at 4 Stg 44's 1 MG-42 and for the 8man the rest with MP-40 the other two rifles with 2 Panzerfaust each. Sometimes I take the 8 man one as a Volksgrenadier with same loadout. A Regular medium mortar with spotter, a Regular Panzerschrek team, a regular PAK-38 with a inexp Kettenkrad as I either use it as the tow or a taxi for the Panzerschrek. a regular SD Kfz 234/2 Puma, and oh boy what ever I am feeling to put on the table as I got options for the tank slot everything from a StuH 42 to a SD Kfz 251/16 Flammepanzer, SD Kfz 251/21 Drilling, or if I'm really feeling adventurous a SD Kfz 251/9 Stummel with front arc/ coaxial MG-42. Or a Panzerwerfer 42 with roof mounted pintel MMG. Or remove the PAK 38 and bring the big boys out the Brummbar, Jagdpanther, or Panther ausf A. all regular, all under the command of a regular 1st Lt with assistant. I got options with my Germans for that tank/ armor slot. I own a Tiger I but never used it.

    Big cats are fun especially when your opponent gets into a building because it's HW isn't that impressive or scary but forgets what happens when a heavy tank rams a building full of troops.

    I remember going to a doubles tournament a few years ago at origins. Each player had a 750 point army (so 1500 a side). I brought a panther and my partner had a panzer iv. I think fully half of our opponents laughed at nobody expected that at this point level. We did it for fun but it ended up working out surprisingly well as there was so little strong anti-tank around. Only one other person brought a Sherman and everything else was light or worse!
