The Band of Brothers starter box is fantastic. You'll get German and US forces, rulebook, etc. It's a great value. It should run you about $100 and you'll be able to play small games. The terrain can get pricey for buildings but a lot of if you can make yourself. For example, cut up a $10 welcome mat and you've got crop fields/rows. Spray paint them green and you've got hedges.
