  • LIVE - A California man faces a potential sentence of life without the possibility of parole when he is sentenced for the murder of his ex-girlfriend on Wednesday.
    On Sept. 27, a jury convicted Gareth Pursehouse on charges of murder and burglary for the death of his ex-girlfriend, Dr. Amie Harwick. Pursehouse, 45, had previously dated Harwick.
    Harwick was a marriage and sex therapist and was once engaged to comedian Drew Carey. She was murdered in her Hollywood Hills home after returning from a night out with friends on Valentine’s Day, 2020. Pursehouse was convicted on charges he lay in wait for Harwick inside her home before attacking her.

      I wonder if the judge makes it a habit not to say anything at sentencing beyond sentencing becs of a concern if the defendant files an appeal and can somehow show bias- judge wants to ensure there is not legitimate appellate argument to remove the judge if this degenerate was ever to win an appeal for new trial?
      I don’t think there’s be justification even if the judge had said something.
      I’ve seen it happen at other trials where judge had harsh words for defendant at sentencing and there was still a retrial with same judge.

    Thank you Judge. I'm very pleased with the sentence of this heartless, soulless, and remorseless coward. I will never, ever speak his name again, like I haven't from the day I've learned about the evil deed he did. I will only pay attention to him, if he dares to put the family, and friends through an appeal. Because, sadly for us, stuck with him, and without Dr. Amy in this world, instead, he still have his rights, rights Dr. Amy wasn't given by him, who, without any justifiable reason decided to play judge, jury, and executor, all-in-one, without the assistance of defense for Dr. Amy. What a miserable character.
    Most importantly, my heart goes out to all the family, friends, and clients of this wonderful woman. To her roommate, I want to say, "Keep your head up Buddy!", don't pay attention to people who judged you harshly on social media. We are in a process of educating ourselves, and each other. Maybe this is the only way we can all be on the same page, with time. We're international, and emotions runs very high amongst us. On our chats we have daily encounters with "trolls", and sometimes I can say something that I have to admit was wrong, rude, or just not helpful. I'm sorry if I said anything that hurt you, but I changed my mind after having read a few comments further down. When I hear how you suffer from survivor guilt, it breaks my heart.
    Family, and friends, we hope in time, that we can shine through the way we want to, and prove to the world, that we support the family, and friends, all the way through. We will not rest, until justice is served, and forgive us when we get too eager, or thoughtless, we're continually educating ourselves, and others, including you, educate us as well.
    Thank you for giving us a chance to share your grief, and eventually your joy, that justice had been served. We think of you, every now and then, together with all the other victims we've met under such painful circumstances. Remember, we literally cry with you. Dr. Amy will never be forgotten!

    Why is restitution even needed in a murder case? If the convicted has assets you can cease sure that is one thing but it should stop there because in a case like this he's locked up for life with no parole and the prisons don't pay jackcrap to inmates and all the victims will get is a check for maybe 2 dollars if that. It just doesn't make sense to me at all.

      @Bella-mx7rl 5 месяцев назад

      It's also to talk about what the crime and what impact Amie's death has had on the people who loved her. I think you can say anything you want as long as it's focused more on the victim. They don't want you to go off on the defendant probably to keep emotions in check and to avoid potential violence.

    • @Bella-mx7rl
      @Bella-mx7rl 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@ThatsMyBlackOpinion Probably because the statement was too focused on Gareth Pursehouse and emotionally charged. She probably had some very not-so-nice words for him. The guidelines are set so that there are minimum disruptions to court proceedings. People can't make threats or be abusive. The statement that her friend made was pretty pointed and emotional. I have no doubt that what she wanted to say to him probably was pretty fiery. That being said, I don't agree with the rules. I think victims should be able to say or do what they want. But as someone who has worked with victims in court, I acknowledge that the rules are necessary and there for the welfare of everyone in the in the building.

Why not have one person speak on the behalf of all her love ones and not let this guy see the pain. That was his glory and now he relishes in pleasure to see all the faces and mouths move. One person could name all the names without letting him see the pain of many.

      How about viewing the facts? They completely contradict your pathetic statement! According to all who knew Amie, she was respectable! And it's disgusting that you are suggesting that she was the reason she died? You do realise she ended the relationship due to his controlling personality disorder, his volatile temper and jealous rages, plus his stalking?!? It seems ridiculous that she would not be allowed to end such a relationship for these reasons, according to you?? So...if someone controls you in your relationship, is possessive, mean, nasty, domineering, selfish and stalking, you call it games when Amie quietly ends the relationship to save herself? You also forget she left friends at an event to go comfort and support him. BECAUSE she was kind and caring enough to do that, even though they had broken up almost 10 years ago!!! This is not the behaviour of someone who plays games. This is the behaviour of a decent, remarkable, caring woman!! Your comment is highly uneducated, offensive and grossly incorrect!!! Please grow a BRAIN.
