i really would suggest to buy the new camera: 1. you can walk and run with it 2. when pointed at an animal the focus turns green, also when sometimes pointing into bushes where you dont actually always see the animal clearly
I think this update helps us follow the lead of our best president. Teddy Roosevelt did a lot of hunting but also gave birth to a lot of our national parks and took big steps in conservation. This was the same period he was alive. Quite accurate of Rockstar.
I would’ve liked to have a choice to choose whether I should to help the animals with Davenport or become a trapper and kill animals as if they were bounties. For example : I get a contract on a bear or a pack of wolves and would be sent to kill the bear / leader of the pack of wolves, and deliver a trophy or even the whole carcass of the animal in for a reward Tbh tho I would rather have a new set of story missions for madame leclerk Just so there is closure on whether or not we help her find (and probably kill) those who oppose her I forgot who exactly they were.
We were looking for the one who killed her husband and framed you for the murder. And same. Either that or some new story like missions like with Moonshiner.

Just so everyone knows, this role is absolutely a chore to level up before level 5. It might seem like a slog but, thankfully, after level 5, you'll gain access to two animal sighting missions that shuffle every 48 minutes or so and the ability to get more as you level up the role. For anyone that's curious, these missions give around 300 role XP (without Outlaw Pass) for completing it and then another 400 role XP for selling the sample (if you took it alive) to Harriet Tubman. These samples also sell for around $40-$60, depending on the legendary animal.

In the back of my mind I believe that R* created this role as a way to "manage" the animal spawn situation in any given lobby. But that aside, The Professional always posts informative, and entertaining vids.
Actually the naturalist role was in the game files for the moonshine update, but for whatever reason decided not to complete it/make it active at the time. I'm guessing since it was removed and moonshine was its own update it only added to the poor animal spawns. Either way, this is not the update to save the game. Animal spawns seem stable now, which is good and long overdue, but bank and train heists, maybe fort raids is what's needed to truly get Red Dead Online to its potential. I don't get why people wanted legendary animals before anything that would add a new gameplay experience, instead it's just hunting, which is about all there was to do in the far too long beta period. And the only way to make decent money in the trader role. Now you're giving pelts to a trapper to make clothes for you, wouldn't Cripps be pissed you're going behind his back to a fat guy doing the same thing as he does? There's nothing special order unique with this update. What is in the update literally was already in single player. Why couldn't thus be part of the release initially? There is zero new to the game if you played the single player except I guess taking pics of animals now, which will just keep sending you to rockstar social if you try getting on your horse with the camera out and once you hit 96 a screen disrupts your game, and if you try to delete pics in rockstar social it's 15 seconds a pic. Wow, this as a whatever update it there were the fun over the top outlaw experiences in the story mode bit with your friends would be cool, like oh Hey, just adding content, it's whatever. But no, they added content without adding anything new to the experience. Oh here go and tranq every animal and bring them back, and hunt and skin every animal (something I already did in beta, but now I gotta do the same all over again, and it's boring, it's not engaging in any way,) it's a solo experience in an online, which makes absolutely no sense.

@@eliascoumine633 all animal samples I have found except the bear are worth less than 5 dollars so you lose money reviving them and what's the point of doing it anyway they wake up in a minute and what I'm a meant to do when I am trying to get her almost worthless wolf sample and I almost get eaten by seven wolves but I cant kill them because then she goes all baby mode on me the update is disappointing atm i was expecting an easy source of gold and money but money is rubbish and it doesn't give gold and unless a legendary animal sample gives a gold bar and $300 it won't be worth my time money and waste of a pelt I could give Gus and I will carry on with legendary bounties with trader and moonshiner running in the background to make my money
Elias Coumine You don't have to revive all animals, you save it for small creatures and prey animals. There is no point in using it on predators and large animals.

I am not happy with the amount of time this update took to come out (personally). Everything except for samples and the missions are directly reused or slightly changed things from the story mode in RDR2. The fact that this new update too does long to come out is (to me) rockstar showing that they aren’t focusing on RDRO as much as they suggested as an excuse for no story mode dlc.
From my perspective I just see it as something else to do while my traders and moonshine produces, It is fun and I like hunting and can make some extra money from it and If I dont feel like doing that I just bounty hunt or collect🤷♂️

I no longer can get money from legendary bountys and missions. I can't pick up fish, my friend had a treasure map and got NO money from it. They need to fix this.
I just wanna know if Legendary animals can be found more than once. I messed up today I found the Marble Wolf and I took the whole carcass and sold it to Gus when he only needed the pelt so I couldn't craft the new coat. I hope Legendary animals are like collectibles and can be found once a day.

I got the sick-ass bear coat like, five minutes after unlocking the role because I got spooked by a black bear going up to the Big Valley Trapper see what Gus had. So it's basically all gravy for me from this point on.

Thank God they finally fixed the animal spawn problem with this update. God knows how long it would be to do this role with the old animal spawning issue.
Note once you hit level 5, it’s a breeze, legendary animal mission can be as short as 3 minutes and as long as 9, but you get about 350-400 naturalist xp for completing it and sedating and giving the thing to harriet will reward you another 350-400 xp, and once you level up it gets 3 missions I’m at 11 in one day and the refresh for new missions is 45 minutes
I just realized something about the weight loss tonics Harriet gives you. She quite literally gives you a super laxative there's no way you can just shed half your body weight that quickly. So when you keel over and there's a black screen it's just your character crapping themselves over and over.

The killing part isn’t part of the role btw. U should shoot and sedate the animal, sample it and then sell the sample to her when the sample is sold you will get the animal stamped once a whole category is stamped then you get the cash. The photo, track, study, kill and skin are ALL OPTIONAL and not what the role needs you to do.
Apparently a “Halloween Pass” has been found in the files, and there is an image of it. Its sounds like it could be the best pass we have had in terms of cosmetics.
I'm really enjoying this role and I'm saddened to see so many people disappointed with it, seems like the general consensus. Had they packaged this role in with 2 more roles (like we got last summer), then I think it would've been met with very high praise. I'm still trying to make sense of how we only received 1 role this summer in comparison to last years.
Yeah, 100% agree. I was looking forward to it because I missed out on 1 and 2 because I wasn't really playing the game. Got into it right after 2. You get your gold back so I'm happy with that but it feels lazy as fuck.

When you drink a antique alcohol, no matter what you drink, it takes away from the London dry gin. Also, when you loot enemies after an ambush, or even just a random kill of NPC’s, every time it says “you cannot carry any more of this item.”
so once you get an animal sample, you can give it to Harriet for a couple of dollars. Once you do this you get a stamp for that animal. Once you get all the stamps for a category, you will see the option to trade the whole collection. You can do this from the animal field guide itself and it will provide a moderate amount of money.
I got suspended on ps4 for a month. You know why? Sexual abuse. I called someone a scammer. PS4 thinks that’s sexual abuse. This system is broken and now I can’t play gta or red dead for a month. Customer service doesn’t respond.
You can't sell the samples as a set, but for every different sample you sell, the animal gets a stamp in your guide. Once a category has all animals stamped, you can turn it in for cash. Basically, instead of collecting samples, you're collecting stamps.
I think the next role should be a fisher man role Becuse there's boats? -small fishing boat -medum fishing boat -large fishing boat for sea fishing (with a big sea net ) All different types of rods -clothing -Reels for the gut -Different gut (gut is string for the rod) -bobbles -flys -all different hooks -and traps for crabs and kray fish -and a fishing shed to store items Or A role to be an architect A role to be a builder to build houses A role to own land A role to own a farm ranch A role to own a tobbacco farm A role to own banks and shops A role to be a landlord to collect debts people owe A role to be a a family man A role to be a train or wagon driver For role play? Unfortunately, things aren’t that easy. If you revive it after taking a sample ((you don’t have to revive it, it’ll eventually wake up)) the animal can’t be skinned for some reason. You also can’t take a photo of the animal when it’s unconscious or dead.

If you get a completed set and sell the animal samples you can then trade in the category for $80 the first time and keeps increasing in price every time you complete it and get over 1k xp in the naturalist role every trade in.

I am not happy with the amount of time this update took to come out (personally). Everything except for samples and the missions are directly reused or slightly changed things from the story mode in RDR2. The fact that this new update too does long to come out is (to me) rockstar showing that they aren’t focusing on RDRO as much as they suggested as an excuse for no story mode dlc.

From my perspective I just see it as something else to do while my traders and moonshine produces, It is fun and I like hunting and can make some extra money from it and If I dont feel like doing that I just bounty hunt or collect🤷♂️

I'm still confused with the game, how do you even make a decent amount of money with this role, I've been losing money to sedate animals and revive them since each revive is $5 and you only sell samples for like 1-3 plus the price of ammo.
Edit: Thanks to the comments for the help, don't revive the animals and something I also realized, when you get a full set of samples you can trade it in and get money
Just dont revive them all revives do is give you xp use the 5 dollars for cartridges
Don't revive them, they do it by themselves. I sedated a cougar and after a while it found me to have it's revenge!
Just sedate them and give the samples to Harriet. Do a lot at once cuz they give alot of xp.
Not gonna make a lot of money there but the wilderness camp you get at level five is pretty cool it's just like story mode now some

I no longer can get money from legendary bountys and missions. I can't pick up fish, my friend had a treasure map and got NO money from it. They need to fix this.
I just wanna know if Legendary animals can be found more than once. I messed up today I found the Marble Wolf and I took the whole carcass and sold it to Gus when he only needed the pelt so I couldn't craft the new coat. I hope Legendary animals are like collectibles and can be found once a day.
They should spawn more then once . It’s impossible to complete the guide without skinning and sedating it. They just seem to have a cool down .

I got the sick-ass bear coat like, five minutes after unlocking the role because I got spooked by a black bear going up to the Big Valley Trapper see what Gus had. So it's basically all gravy for me from this point on.
Yawntastic role. Could've done without this role entirely. Outlaw Pass is nice, as are the bug fixes.

Note once you hit level 5, it’s a breeze, legendary animal mission can be as short as 3 minutes and as long as 9, but you get about 350-400 naturalist xp for completing it and sedating and giving the thing to harriet will reward you another 350-400 xp, and once you level up it gets 3 missions I’m at 11 in one day and the refresh for new missions is 45 minutes

I just realized something about the weight loss tonics Harriet gives you. She quite literally gives you a super laxative there's no way you can just shed half your body weight that quickly. So when you keel over and there's a black screen it's just your character crapping themselves over and over.

Best rockstar guides on youtube by a country mile, at least for me and my grinder friends. New role very welcome but slightly disappointing, wanted properties/law and order type of role
The killing part isn’t part of the role btw. U should shoot and sedate the animal, sample it and then sell the sample to her when the sample is sold you will get the animal stamped once a whole category is stamped then you get the cash. The photo, track, study, kill and skin are ALL OPTIONAL and not what the role needs you to do.

For the photographs I usually wait a minute or two for the animals to wake up and then i snap a quick photo. i find it much easier to do it that way.
I'm really enjoying this role and I'm saddened to see so many people disappointed with it, seems like the general consensus. Had they packaged this role in with 2 more roles (like we got last summer), then I think it would've been met with very high praise. I'm still trying to make sense of how we only received 1 role this summer in comparison to last years.

When you drink a antique alcohol, no matter what you drink, it takes away from the London dry gin. Also, when you loot enemies after an ambush, or even just a random kill of NPC’s, every time it says “you cannot carry any more of this item.”

so once you get an animal sample, you can give it to Harriet for a couple of dollars. Once you do this you get a stamp for that animal. Once you get all the stamps for a category, you will see the option to trade the whole collection. You can do this from the animal field guide itself and it will provide a moderate amount of money.

I recommend you to get the game for the single player, online feels like a chore even with friends
You can't sell the samples as a set, but for every different sample you sell, the animal gets a stamp in your guide. Once a category has all animals stamped, you can turn it in for cash. Basically, instead of collecting samples, you're collecting stamps.

Could you sedate then sample an animal, then once you revive it, you kill it and skin it to get all that done at once?
Unfortunately, things aren’t that easy. If you revive it after taking a sample ((you don’t have to revive it, it’ll eventually wake up)) the animal can’t be skinned for some reason. You also can’t take a photo of the animal when it’s unconscious or dead.

If you get a completed set and sell the animal samples you can then trade in the category for $80 the first time and keeps increasing in price every time you complete it and get over 1k xp in the naturalist role every trade in.
