Hey guys! I’m seeing a lot of people asking about the music I used in the video. End song: Isobelle Walton - “Autumn Glow” She has another song in there “Silence is the Key”. Found her on Epidemic Sound, fantastic artist. During the bounty hunter section is a live version of the GOAT Jose Gonzalez’s “Far Away”. (Featured in Red Dead Redemption 1) Thank you to everyone watching! The exposure on this video and to my channel is truly overwhelming ❤️🙏🏻
Hey dude this video was awesome, clearly a lot of effort went into it and you seem like a really chill likeable guy, just subscribed and can't wait to see more of your content :)
That was exactly what i thought about it and tried it the first time i got into read dead online, went to the shops and killed everyone and tried to rob the stores but turned out you cant so i was dissapointed
Huge let down! This game could've been so much better if we could rob trains and banks ect. I find there's hardly anything fun to do. Just sams old crap over and over. Its rather boring. I guess atleast there's hunting animals 😝
i find it kinda hilarious really how in a game about outlaws and gunslingers, the online portion is spent behaving like the sorts of the people those bandits would rob.
It's typical Rockstar fashion. The entire story of GTA V revolves around how the dream of one more heist can allow them enough money to buy happiness, while the underlying message is that cars, money and fame just is superfluous and not really worth chasing. GTA: Online is a celebration of the same things that the story makes fun of. It's absurd.
Red Dead Redemption was never about robbing banks, it was always about what the name says, redemption for your character, to turn from the life of crime. There are a few missions with robbing, but that was never the point of the game. As for robbing banks online, I already knew it wouldn’t be a thing for a long time. GTA 5 didn’t get any bank robberies until damn near their 6th update which was about 2-3 years after GTA Online. If you want to truly enjoy the game, just download a online trainer and play around with mods. I run around playing as different npcs doing crazy stuff, having a blast right now.
I remember reading an article about 3 years ago about how Rockstar's CEO was replaced with a former casino executive who was in charge of making slot machines more addictive and I instantly understood why Red Dead and GTA Online were so terrible.
It’s painfully obvious that red dead online has been incredibly neglected in favor of the cash cow that gta has been and it’s sad to see such a beautiful and interesting world full of potential be abandoned like that just because the micro transaction value is low.
Dude it’s also because red dead online was so boring, it’s so slow compared to what you can do in gta online. I really loved the story but at least for me, I enjoyed more the online from rdr1
@@jaimevogel8869 yea red dead 3 should follow jack marston right after WWI I bet my life on it lol. So automobile travel will be in there. Should be the greatest video game ever made by far if my estimation a are correct on the time period: still so much open land yet vehicles too. Bootlegging missions in New York and Chicago and Miami and shit (Jersey, Boston, DC) (new addictions to the map). I can’t wait for that shit fr fuck gta 6 lol they can hold that. This time period has baseball too Babe Ruth missions. This game will be it and don’t forget that Jack Marston is a writer so that’s a whole other dynamic that can make this a game unlike any other. Every choice you make makes a different boom you get to read at the end. That’s if the game ever ends. I saw what they did with some things changing over time in this game and I fully expect them to take it to the next level in 3. Im talking maybe we see it run from after WWI all the way thru the end of Jacks life to carry the tradition of the first two. That should take us into the 70’s hopefully. I mean just imagine the possibilities. This game should be stalled until atleast 2030 to realize it’s full potential lol I’m out
I am having a hell of a time playing Red Dead Online rn, I think a big part of that is that there is almost nobody else online anymore, although it would be fun to have friends to play it with
I watched the whole video dude and I subscribed . I tried so badly to support this game and am still trying but I’m losing hope because of the lack of support from rockstar . I remember when they released outlaw pass 5 with no dlc. For 2 years we have had terrible updates. The final good update was moonshiners in 2019. Since then we have had naturalist a really boring role a bounty hunter expansion , an outlaw pass with no content and the boring blood money update . To answer your final question the reason why rockstar screws red dead online is because of gta online. Rockatar released the casino heist and made so much in shark cards from it . They think they can put little effort in red dead online and still milk it when so many players have given up. It’s such a shame. Red dead online is a perfect example of a great game being killed by corporate greed.
But, rdr2 is a single player game at its finest, and I believe that no matter what rockstar does with rdr online, it’s not gonna beat the story mode. And when most people play rdr 2, they grind the story mode; since it’s much more immersive.
I played online with my friends and we started to lose interest, then there were rumours of robberies and train heists and stuff. My friends didn’t have gta but I did, so this would have been good for both. It then released, and was pretty disappointing, so then my friends bought gta and now we play that instead. Still a great game tho, just not as interesting anymore
@Stephen O'Brien LOL dude have you seen the stuff you can purchase with the role tokens. I have a shit ton as well and really only saw a few things that were worth the purchase, and I wouldn’t be surprised if that was common. You can buy everything in the game and the problems that plague it would still be there. Money isn’t a issue if you just grind collector for a few days mixed with a few of the roles so you don’t blow your brains out collecting your 100th tarot card set.
The economy is specifically designed to be like this. Rockstar doesn't want you to earn money/gold via gameplay, they want you to buy it with real money. The game obviously has massive potential but Rockstar just doesn't care. They want the most amount of money for as little work as possible.
I literally stopped playing RDR online on day 2 of it going live. A GOLD WATCH was worth less than a can of beans! I was like nope, rockstar ruined it. Sad to see they haven’t fixed the economy in 3 years.
@@Dr.Oofers This, and TakeTwo is omega cancer, it's honestly a miracle Rockstar even uses them anymore, surely they're big enough to publish their own games now
It’s honestly so depressing because they have solid gameplay and awesome open worlds, but then you are hit with these massive tedious grinds to get the cool stuff that just kill the whole fun of the game. Why can’t we just enjoy games anymore and not just have our wallets sucked dry :(
@@pgames3playerHMxblame Take Two Interactive. They're responsible for everything wrong with Rockstar, from Online to them having to release early. Don't be confused and assume that Rockstar is at fault here, they really love their hard work but they're slaves of Take Te'o Interactive and will be whipped every second that they try to do anything against Take Two Interactive's greed for money.
I was diagnosed with cancer shortly after the release of this game, and have since fully recovered. I preface the comment with this information because it greatly impacted my absolute love for the title. I became lost in the story. I cried multiple times throughout & played the game like it was a book, thinking it was the final gaming experience I would have in this life. This game brought so much light into my life, when all I could do was sleep, shit & eat through a straw. I can't emphasize enough how beautiful the base game is. I'm confident this game will have a special place in my heart for the rest of my life. I wish I could wipe my memory and play it again. I hope that over time RDO gets the attention it deserves, and I hope I'm around to see that come to fruition.
Finally someone said it. The only reason Rockstar doesn't care about red dead redemption is because of gta 5. They get much much more money per month on an 8 year old game than on rdo. Personally, I love red dead redemption much more than gta. Great world, great characters and as a history enthusiast, it's just great for me. If people finally stop playing that stupid ass gta online then red dead will rise, but until then... Be patient
@@balefire3874 we've been patient bro, it's already been 3 years the only player base left are hard-core fans and everyone else probably won't come back and they can't really be blamed for that, I've been playing rdr2 and gta5 since the very hour they were released and I'm completely beyond bored with gta5 have been for a few years now, rdr2 definitely needs the love that game has had since the start but they simply don't care. "I ain't got much to say no more" Dutch Van Der Linde.
@@balefire3874 To my knowledge, GTAO Online also suffers from the same kind of issues RDR Online suffers. Long patches of nothing only to get lackluster content that barely entertains people, extremely long and nonsensical grinds to afford an equally nonsensical inflated economy, and a system that doesn't reward fun or efficiency (at least, until recently where you just grind Cayo Perico forever). iirc, Heists weren't released until 2 years after Online launched, and to make money in Online prior to Heists, you had to do boring escort/kill/deliver missions while killing NPCs dropped sub-$100 and finishing the mission too fast would net you 1/8 the money. To get the full amount, you had to kill at least 15 mins. Same as the Bounty Hunter role. Each job would give something around $20k but the best cars cost $1.2 million+ and clothing can cost several thousands to a couple hundred thousands. 8 years and the available content is PVP, variations of essentially the same escort/kill/deliver missions for various NPCs, Twisted Metal but worse, racing, stunt racing, and like 8 unique heists and 8 "mini heists." You can experience most of the content in a week or two, depending on how long you like to grind cash. imo, Rockstar just makes unfun MMOs in general, as its always been a long ass grind for little to no content, and I think the only people who stick around are basically only doing so because of the sunk cost fallacy. Your end game is buying property to basically grab supplies and deliver it to your base, wait like 4-6 hours, then deliver your drugs/guns to the other side of the map in a slow semi-truck and repeat. Basically the Trader role in RDR Online. All to buy the flying motorcycle with missiles or the next multimillion dollar car. tl;dr imo RDR Online is already getting GTA Online levels of support.
I used to play Red Dead Online everyday with all of my friends, we would laugh, yell, lasso each other and have a great time. Except eventually everyone started getting bored because they weren't adding anything and whatever they did add was not nearly enough to entertain anyone. So unfortunately we all fell out. I came across this video and it's nostalgic but it's also very sad.
I am very disappointed that it took all of you three years to realize these issues with the online. It took me three minutes. I want every single one of you to apologize to me below by 5 AM Eastern time tomorrow. Thanks.
idk if i speak for myself here but i only want a rancher role, being a cowboy is the reason i bought this game so it would be cool to add the ability to herd cattle, break horses, produce livestock and sell your livestock. this would be a good opportunity to implement the Outlaw role, being able to rob banks, trains or rob cattle, herd them to the mexican border and sell them. i hope i dont speak for myself when i say these are the two things i really want.
The health and stamina bar actually create more of a survival feeling, having the need for hunting and cooking better food at your camp. Red dead 2 has the potential for an amazing comeback, to get rockstar games to give it another chance.
To me the statement of the game being dead is false for almost any game, because it just doesn't magically dissapear the moment you uninstall it, if there is a worth while update with more stuff to buy, the game will come back to life eventually
@@spike5499 I get what you say, but this isn't an indie game, l4d2 for example: 8 Years without updates, 1 single update made BY FANS brought the game from 12k players regularly to almost 100k and now after 3 years the average player is 28k just to give an example
@@spike5499 they are currently working on gta 6 which is going to be bigger and possibly just as detailed as rdr2 I doubt they are gonna take a break to add an update to rdr2 online while they are still working on gta6 so just chill out it ain’t over
I played RDR2 during quarantine, and being on lockdown just made this game and its open landscapes and possibilities a million times better. It really meant a lot to me, i wish rockstar would take better care of it.
My god, I played this with my father and his online friends for hundreds of hours, we had a posse called the Regulators, we Bounty Hunted and helped people out for the most part, most importantly we all wore the same badass outfit… rest in peace Dad…
Rest in peace. Sounds like an incredible experience with your father. I hope those fond memories carry with you and his memory is a blessing in your life. I only wish my dad could have seen this masterpiece. Good health to you and yours!
I literally took a week and a half off, stocked up on baked beans, bread, cheese and random time accurate goodies, Whiskey, Kentucky Bourbon and legitimately played in a cowboy hat until the credits rolled. Best gaming experience I've ever had.
I will still never wrap my head around how rockstar can make such amazing single player story games like gta v and rdr2 before completely neglecting the story and focusing all of their efforts into making a crappy half assed online mode that cares more about making money and wasting time than being even remotely good despite having a dedicated community of people who want it to succeed and even suggestions to make it better.
rdr2 and gta 5 online are both f2p p2w mmos packaged in and disguised as online versions of the singleplayer games - roped everyone in to a type of game they'd never have played. very smart con. after getting burned by a f2p p2w mmo i noticed it immediately and got outta there. it was done on purpose
Love the Lawman idea. Introduce the gunslinger as a counter role, and pit the two against each other for organic and constant meaningful pvp, and that it would alter a few things regarding NPC's and available missions from Bounty Boards and Trader missions.
Yea but the lawmen role in this iteration just kills npc gangs because there's an end goal. There's not a good enough incentive to run into real player bases and have a real risk of getting killed. Also the gunslinger would need a way to get money from not just fending off lawmen attacks but also other activities because having a role where the only time where you could use it was when another player interacts with you seems not fun. Maybe actually add heists to your wild west outlaw game.
@@oscarwang7227 Yes, that's the entire point. A mechanic that had a fleshed out PVP/Faction element could have rather easily been implemented, but alas, it is for naught, because Rockstar announced July 13 that they will no longer be releasing content for RDR2. Best open world game in many respects, but a project left unfinished in my estimation.
The greatest pain I felt was when Jack just randomly thought out amazing cool ideas R* could add in the game. Like, it's not even that bloody difficult to add cool content to the game. All it needs is care
Just like what Dice did with bf1, they put in plenty of heart into the game and it's pretty good because of it. But then started caring less and less and now we have bfv and bf2042
@@TrickZ_Retz It shouldn't be all about the money. They should make good games even if it cuts their profit by 10%. Game making should not be moneydriven, like big companies have made it be. I also don't get how you're saying GTA Online is trash lmao it's far from trash there's so much to do and they update it constantly.
too bad they dont give a shit about red dead online and are putting all effort on GTA 5 online , despite people asking so damn much for more red dead content and GTA 5 story mode content
@@luuttaja it wasn’t trash but they added certain things that made the online trash. And rockstar is a whole corporation. I promise they don’t give a damn about anything but the almighty dollar. They still make good games though.
I would absolutely love a rancher role. Buying your own ranch and being able to buy and raise different types of cattle or even bison. Then being able to sell calves and beef. With the potential of you having to protect your stock from bandits. Being able to do cattle drives to take back to your ranch. God I would fall in love
It’s sad because we all know what their doing. They made a well liked, beautiful, and fun game only to ditch it. Why? Because it’s basically a back up plan. Once they can’t beat GTA for any more money, they’ll start to care about Red Dead. But only to add pay to win features. Rockstar is known for beating cash cows to DEATH.
Once GTA stops making money they will release GTA6 and promptly start making money again. I am one of those people who thinks GTA6 might already be finished but they will not release it until GTA5 slows down sufficiently.
This game was quite something, the single player being an absolute masterpiece of it's genre, then the multiplayer being one of the most obnoxious, outrageous and outright fraudulent scams of the decade all in one package. It's like ordering a three hundred dollar Michelin restaurant meal prepared exquisitely and being asked "Would you like a side of shit with that sir?"
@@pastorsleep and gta 6 won't be online so why care? you can assume gta online 2 will be shit but not gta 6 itself, gta 6 is going to be one of the greatest games of all time most likely

I absolutely loved RDR2 2 years ago, just installed it again to check out the multiplayer.. couldn't hurt. Saw that you had to PAY MONEY to actually get the "main missions" and quit again, I'm way too cynical not to see the way they designed the whole game around microtransactions, it's awful.
Its a real shame. Ive played online a fair bit, but tbh thats only because i had a bunch of people to play it with. Its one fo those games where something hilarious happens pretty often, but that being said without friends online is shit. Even with friends its been pretty boring for a while now, since everytime i play it i think of how its just a worse version of the singleplayer

Man you’re so right about the undead nightmare thing. Like are we missing something? Rockstar likes money right? Make a few zombie models for god sake, and create a designated server for it. I’m honestly shocked they just blew that off.
It’s just…baffling. Even if it was dog shit and only 1/5th as fun, at least it’d be SOMETHING. It genuinely feels like someone in rockstar never wanted RDR2 to be made, was pissed that it got the green light, and after it was put out, they were determined to limit and/or kill the game any way they could.
They already have zombie models, I remember coming across hackers in RDO that would send zombies and skeletons attacking me. Even had ai for the zombies.
I think the time based missions are that way so that people can’t rip through them fast and stack up money fast. They should just make them all the same base payout and not include the time as a factor. Instead pay out more for doing more things like killing, looting, collecting, and side objectives. That will make people take longer but will make it actually fun for them.
This video reflects 100% of the conversation regarding RDRonline that me and the bois had few days back. The same missions over and over and over and over. Its such a lush and vibrant world, and yet you feel alone, without a purpose. Resulting of it getting old in just 100 hours. Too bad, as its such a great game.
Yeh it sucks. When they took away thr endless dailies to cut it to 28days alot of ppl gave up then. I plugged away but I've quit playing now. Everytime they released a big GTA update I got pissed lol. Fuckem, plenty of other games I like.
I love that your critique of this game not only contains appreciation but solutions as well. Too many essays do not include constructive criticism. This was very well done. Funny, great great great editing and cinematics, as well as a killer moustache. Cheers man.
Too many essays also fail to include appreciation where it's due and I'm glad he included that (especially as someone who loves RDO simply for the fact that I can turn off my brain and do stuff for the different occupations / do daily challenges / etc.). Yes, it's certainly flawed, but it's also not really THAT terrible which is why I'm glad he focused on both.
@@TrickyTricky914 I completely agree. It's not the best game ever (RDR2 is, but RDO ain't) and it does deserve some of its criticisms, but IMO RDO is much better than GTAO, despite its many flaws.
this is an incredible and accurate analysis of the game from the player's point of view- amazing work. We can only hope that rockstar will eventually put some sort of effort into keeping this game alive.
@@mistersandman5811 they don't wanna risk their golden goose, which is why their isn't a gta 6, and gta 5 has now been on ps3, ps4 and ps5. Because microtransactions is the focus of Rockstar. They made a billion dollars last year, and most of it is microtransactions.
I spent over 450 hours in RDO (yes, really) and I have to say Ive never been disappointed in something more in my life than in Rockstar for basically spitting into players faces and completly abondening this game. I remember having soooo much hope in Blood money back when it was announced only for it to become a laughing stock. For a long time the only small drops of "content" were weekly updates with discounts, and they even nerfed that, making it monthly updates and that just killed it for me. I hope that one day I will come back to RDO, but I dont expect it tbh
Been playing since the second week online came out, took probably a year long break and got back into it recently, while it's super disappointing from what we all hyped it up to be and expected it to be, as long as you have some friends to play with I have a good time. I just wish rockstar would give it an update
I honestly had no intention of watching more than 5 minutes of this. Your personality and charm kept me until the end. Very well done video, you have another subscriber.
The thing that got to me the most when I first played online was when I realized just how many characters that should be alive in the main story at this point weren't there at all. Not even a mention of any one character that had such a huge influence on me. No O'Driscolls, Lemoyne Raiders, Pinkertons, Braithwaites, Chelonians, not even the Wapiti Indians are in online. Those guys had so much life to them that I felt betrayed to see that none of them were there at all. And when they were there, it felt like they were added in just to appeal to whatever new content drop was coming that I would later have to pay for out of pocket due to the absurd price of roles.
Things to add: Train robberies Bank robberies More story missions Reduce prices and upgrade payouts Easier ways to buy wagons and more wagons More roles like Native American (credit to some guy in comments) Lawman like you implied Bonuses for being in a posse Posse only missions A town up north Guarma and the penitentiary available More stranger missions Better payouts for fishing and hunting Being able to steal wagons and horses and keep some of them (like npc cars in gta) Having missions with John marston?? Missions with strangers from story mode And that’s it, according to me
Not adding new stuff is the thing that destroys this perfect game. Most griefers are either people whove done everything and just kill people or new people who don't know any better. It has so much potential, yet so little care.
Imagine cinematic heists with each heist member having a unique task, imagine building your own house or even farm and raising cattle and crops to sell, imagine your mentioned lawman role, imagine nuevo paraiso unlocked with yet another revolution going on... there is so much that could be done to get players back but i guess rdo doesn't make nearly as much money from microtransactions as gtao does...and that is all take two and r*care about while destroying their reputation and pissing off their fans more and more. Edit: they should bring back a slightly younger landon rickets and make us help him on his journey to mexico while the general diaz or whatever his name was is on his conquest, finish the already existing main quest, bring back beloved characters and not just make them generic mission dealers again...
@@retrosrobloxreviews9564 well i guess we will need some sort of base of operation or similar which will cost money and can be bought with gold aswell, prep missions that you can skip with gold probably, something like that
"each heist member having a unique task". I assure you, normal matchmaking is going to be a nightmare, playing with people who don't know english and think using their feet.
I want to mention that hideouts used to have almost a guaranteed $50/treasure map/ or crafting pamphlet. It was cut the same time they cut consistent random stranger activities(that cut the monotony of traveling the map and paid pretty well) along with absolutely nuking animal encounters (at the least animal encounter got fixed with naturalist)
One of the largest things in GTA online, one that keeps people playing to this day is heists. If we could get massive buildup robberies with your posse, doing missions like finding the dynamite, or different ways to come up with a plan like we had in the campaign. Heists would add a whole lot of content and bring a lot of people back, myself included.
They even did this in the single player in a small scale. Cornwall's train - you find the info, dynamite, Dutch plans it and you execute. Train in the Scarlett Meadows - John thinks about the plan, you get the oil wagon and then you execute the job. Last train job - first you get the dynamite with Bill, next blow the bridge and in the end rob this train. To be honest the only thing that I like in GTAO is heists with all this work you put as a team to make it.
They don't give a fuck. Unless GTA online bitches stop paying so much they won't go out of their way to do something for the fans if they have stacks of money keep going down the chimney for low effort.
I know I am a year late, but a major flaw in RDO is the fact that all of the grind can become circumvented with an injector and script. You can cheat the online-experience for FREE. This immediately kills the economy as a lot of players that do this will have an infinite supply of gold and money. That's assuming those same people don't also act malicious and ruin the experience for other people.
Appreciate the opinion, but still not sure what you meant by that. From what I saw anyone who cared to play rdro more than a couple of hours appreciates it but eventually leaves because of the issues. Everyone knows it's a grindy drag designed to milk your muneh
I can understand putting more attention into GTA since it’s such a lucrative money maker, but the way Rockstar has just completely left the game out to dry is inexcusable. The game has the potential to be one of the greatest multiplayer experiences out there
Well, i think for them it is just a job. Today we make this, tomorrow we are moving to something else or we are concentrating on the last project that was way more lucrative. I started my gaming with ZX Spectrum, than moving on c64, amiga, some segas and nintendos on the way finishing with PC as a main gear. The Rdr 2 is the best game ever made. Period. But golden chicken needs a golden stew
You know what would’ve been cool imagine buying and building a stud farm for noble stallions that way you can make money by betting on them, maybe even be able bribe the Jockeys to lose and you’ll make even more profit, so much wasting elements.
As someone who's only been playing RDO for a little while, I agree with most of these points. I ended having to buy gold just to unlock Bounty Hunter and Trader, and I got hit by the "Too fast, low reward" issue just today on a Bounty I did for the daily reward. I'm okay with Trader tbh, as it's more of a slower paced distraction with the focus on hunting. Only do long deliveries with friends, and even then they're boring. I do short ones just for some quick and easy money. Blood money: did one once. Might poke at another, but that'll be it. I do like the idea of the the Lawman though. I would certainly get behind that job
Probably wasn't the same people. The story mode was a world-class model of grace and beauty, who, when they were finished with her, Rockstar handed her off to another team tasked with turning her into a money-making whore.
You hit the nail on the head with the inconsistent cost of “things” in online. If I was grinding for $4 dollars at a time and the new gun I wanted was $12 dollars I’d have no problem. If anything I’d be happy with the cost of things relative to the time period… but a $50 gun compared to a $1000 gun belt… 😂 what
We legit need a fresh new update for this game so that it remains in our hearts while GTA 6 is in development. I legit want Arthur Morgan to have a poncho so that I can masquerade as the Man With No Name but no. Rockstar is too busy caring about GTA Online which is legit mid as hell.
I’ve put a lot of hours into RDO and this really hit home. Every point you made is something I’ve thought/said over the past couple years. I can’t understand for the life of me why they’re letting so many opportunities just pass them by. Thank you for a great video that expresses what a lot of us fans have felt for a long time.
After the release of GTA “Definitive Edition” and totally abandoning RDO I have lost all hope for Rockstar. I mean, I’ve been a die hard R* fan my entire life, but fuck me they threw all of my faith in them into the trash and pissed on it.
This video really hits all the marks. The game is beautiful and went through a ton of development in order to masterfully craft a game world that feels alive and real, yet the whole thing is left to dry with half baked updates and a repetitive loop of grinding for literal pocket change. I remember somebody once said something about the games economy that went something along the lines of "You earn money like the 1800s but pay modern prices". It sucks that you have to grind your soul out, literally, just to get another gun that's slightly better or a piece of decent clothing and then repeat it all again due to a lack of meaningful content.
If you place your horse on top of the animal you skin, typically it will skip the animation either outright or swap it for a 4 to 3 second one which helps out a ton
Here's the funny part. Rockstar announced they were not going to update the game at all save for some seasonal things. Reason? Here's a hint: What game is Rockstar constantly updating that has been doing pretty well for almost 10 years?
Rdr2 was one of the deepest, most compelling, and emotional toll taking game I’ve ever played. The story is tear jerking, and well written. Honestly, a great piece of game designing here.
R* is known for creating one of the many greatest singleplayers of all time. But when it comes to online and the controls mapping, R* is pretty incompetent in that nature. Just look at the controls of the other R* titles like GTAV and RDR1. Same with online, look at GTAO, same shit, different day.
Thought I was watching a big huge RUclipsr an entire 15 minutes in the just realised im the 200th view. This is a great video man! Probably the best examination of RDO in the most entertaining, cogent, and productive way I'd seen. Not just a complaint, but actually suggests real, plausible and genuine changes that'll turn things around. More stuff like this, and this channel is gonna be huge in no time at all. And would love some videos on RDR2 story mode, though as time goes its getting harder and harder to squeeze some content out of that lol. Subscribed. I took a break, loaded up into a random posse and one of the posse members roped me while taunting me. I rope him back and the posse leader seen only me and turned off friendly fire just for him to kill me and then turned it off. I went to write her about the misunderstanding, while typing she kicked me from the posse and they all killed me. The guy that originally roped me, sent me a message that I'm trash and to get good. The girl who's posse it was acted like I was a liar and said, "I'm not reading paragraphs, loser." I quit to my Xbox menu, baffled as to wtf just happened lol
My biggest issue with the game remains the timer in missions. It absolutely kills the vibe and immersion when you have a game that is so masterful at creating atmosphere and so fantastically captivating, and you just end up constantly checking a meta timer to see if you're playing the game too quick or too slow. It shouldn't matter if I wanna take the mission slow and immerse myself in the mood, or if I wanna rush through it like a gun slinging action hero. It's especially frustrating because the singleplayer allowed for some very slow pace in gameplay, which I always found to be a very strong suit of the game, and it often was what sucked me into it. Yet in online you're both rushed, simply by the existence of a timer that's constantly ticking down, as well as forced to go slow, because that means mission rewards are higher. It simply kills any kind of immersion, and to me, the immersion is one of the most important parts of a Rockstar game, and Red Dead 2 is the game that is both doing it the best as well as relying on it the most.
The timer is especially retarded because you actually make more money if you take longer. Me and the crew end up chilling for 5-10 minutes two meters from the end of the mission to get an extra 100$ Bad for gameplay man.
I hate p2p servers, no second character and the main story with Jessica isn't done 3 years in...honestly to me the game is still in beta. How is Rockstar so damn rich but they can't afford dedicated servers, a second character slot or to even finish the damn story. IDGAF about updates or DLC I just want them to finish the game.
For the Lawman role, once you fully completed one mission, you get given the police badge (that you can add or remove through your wardrobe). Maybe the more missions you do, the better the badge. Bronze, silver, gold, platinum, etc
This hits so close to home... I love RDO and I want it to be so much better. It would be so easy to make it the best online game out there simply by making it closer to the story mode.
This was extremly well made and I entirely agree. Without a doubt it feels like there's just sooo much untapped potential from this game. The multiplayer system and modes, zombies or aliens DLC, there's so much they can do but whatever I guess.
The Grindy game paradox: You want to grind for better gear, but the better gear is just for more grinding. It feels meaningless and boring, unless it’s done very well (which rdr2’s online isn’t)
Yeah, I uninstalled after Harriet’s rabbit morph. I did NOT pay money IRL to have a game job I don’t enjoy, earning pixels for a game I do NOT enjoy. 🤣
Play Diablo II. When you reach end-game, you grind for better magic-find gear so you can find better gear for your main build/gear loadout... but you never wear it because it has low magic-find.
@@Batmannerz But it still carries the reward of being fun to use. Having an absolutely busted tesladin to go walk around with and passively wipe screens at a time is a fun reward, even if it won't be your actual primary build for gameplay. What RDO does is the equivalent of if Nintendo made players pay for the privilege of collecting all 900 Korok seeds in BotW
I absolutely love RDR2, just finished the story the 3rd time and I couldn't stop myself from starting a 4th playthrough and I'm already blasting through Valentine. Watched Nakey Jakeys video and now stumbled upon your channel and this one, and I couldn't agree more with many of the points both of you are making. The mission design in SP is a bit too strict (as NJ mentions) and some design decisions are weird, and basically everything you're talking about regarding online here is why I haven't played online more than just maybe 10 hours or so. The RDR2 world is so wonderfully crafted and the game has so much potential, and it's heartbreaking that it feels like they kind of half-assed a lot of the content and seemingly now all work on GTA6. I for one am desperately hoping for either RDR3 or a remaster/remake of the original game (hopefully released on PC). Good video Jack, really enjoy your content :)
There's so many simple things they could do thst would probably not take all that much effort in comparison to some of the crazy stuff they add to GTA and it would make the game so much better like. I've literally reached the point in the game where I've got all the clothes, weapons and a good horse so buying anything else is pointless so I'm sat on a pile of money waiting to be spent but rockstar have never added any new clothes, weapons, or horses. I legit have 1000s of dollars laying around just let me spend my money rockstar please
God damn this video is great. Really well done dude, was a great watch from start to finish and really reminded me of all the stages of gradual disappointment I'd been through with RDO as well. It's the sheer potential the entire experience has that makes its current state so frustrating. Looking forward to more vids mate, I enjoyed this a lot!
I really wish they'd add some kind of conman role, personally I really enjoy the idea of going through the process of studying an NPC to best con them or to actually scam players, might seem meticulous but I'd really love it. Also I wish they'd make some activities that actually revolve around playing with friends as a gang like thoroughly planning a bank heist or coach robbery with actual roles where you get more money for following the plan. Being able to own property would be cool too
This video actually made me really sad. I had so much fun playing this game even though the majority of it I’ve been playing alone. I really don’t have any friends. This game was sort of a self reflection of my life. Just me myself and the frontier. I guess once again, after putting so much time into something that I love. I’ll be forced to ride off into the sunset. You got it GTA. Enjoy.
I'm on PS if any of you all are interested. My posse is about four but usually we run 2 unless I can raise my brother from the dead. We live across the country from each other and are quite old. Otherwise I'd just go kick him
I’m not sure if you guys knew this but it took Rockstar 8 years of development to make The Incredible game known as Red Dead Redemption 2. The amount of attention, care and time put into the game is not something that is easily done or can be rushed. The story is well thought out and amazing. Great stories require attention, care and time as well. Putting the same effort for online just wouldn’t be worth the time and resources. The game has over 39 million sales ranking #12 All Time.
Man rockstar (and frankly most gaming company’s these days) need more people like you on their team, they don’t want to innovate, too scared to trade profit for creativity and content.
This is one of the smallest channels I’ve seen with such damn high quality content, and I completely agree with everything you said rdr single and multiplayer have so much potential yet I doubt it’ll ever have something like undead nightmare, sadly.
Funny! 20.000 subs and such high quality wouldn't be that extraordinary if the channel was in a language with relatively little amount of speakers (compared to english, spanish, indian, chinese etc. The channels with the most subs in my country have less than 20 million, top 50 average is ~ 3 million subs and 20k subs are already not bad over here 😅 Biggest RUclipsr from Luxembourgh has 250k subs.
I used to spend ALL of my free time in this game back in late 2019 and early 2020. I would just spend all day hunting animals, grinding bounties, collecting trinkets, doing the daily challenges (before they ruined streaks) and just in general exploring the world because it's so pretty. I usually played it alone and it was an oddly relaxing method of escapism (I was going through some serious health issues at the time and also stressed about applying for graduate schools). I branched out and actually started socializing with other people in the community and it truly morphed into a second life for me where I got to throw parties at my moonshine bar once a month with anyone in the community who felt like showing up. It was so much fun to laugh and talk to people while our characters were busy getting drunk and stumbling through the bar. I stopped playing because I got accepted into graduate school (woo), which meant I had to move across the country and leave behind the console I was using to play the game. It makes me sad that Rockstar had such a great opportunity with this world and... did nothing with it. Instead, they ruined the experience for the handful of players that actually kept logging in every day. There's so much potential with the game, if only they wouldn't try to force it into a cash cow (by making it extremely difficult to get the gold needed to progress) without giving people a single incentive (content) to spend real money.
What they could've done for the hunter is make it the most profitable role by far and the most risky. Here's my thought process. So, you collect enough stuff to get to the delivery part, except the destination isn't predetermined. You can pick it from different places on the map. Some are closer and more high profile(thus giving more), and others are further out of the way(thus giving less). The kicker is that other players(basically anyone) can actually rob your convoy and get maybe 25% of your expected pay out, and you lose the money. Like imagine it, you have a convoy saved up, and you need money NOW. So you go to the drop-off point in the middle of Saint Denis, one of the most high profile ones on the map for a massive pay out of like $2000 and 10 gold bars or something(as opposed to the one that's out od the way and sefer but only gives like $800 and 4 gold bars). But it's high profile for a reason. Basically, everyone will be able to catch wind of what you're doing. Now you have to defend against an army of players who want your goods for themselves and the (single) player that manages to stop you and get $500 and 2.5 gold bars.
Found this channel through the Sick of Ubisoft video and I'm absolutely about to binge all your content. Amazing production, clear scripts that don't ramble, funny, snappy, love it. Can't believe you've got less than 100k subs! Nice work!
@@AlphaCarinae It depends on who you ride with. Some people have had better luck than others. These people you speak of don’t give two shits about the community so quit trying to put it in a negative light.
That's because Rockstar is still an amazing company rdr2 is an example of what Rockstar actually is. It's not that Rockstar doesn't want to make masterpieces It's that take two interactive bought them and if you know take two they own EA hence why EA gets such a bad reputation. People need to spread awareness that it's not the Rockstar It's take two
They could add in annual events. Like during Halloween, Undead Nightmare all October with 2x XP and cash/gold. They could literally do this for every major holiday.
the passion that was put into rdo’s world building is definitely there. the scenery, the weather changes, everything about the base world itself. it’s all so amazing. the fact that whether your honor changes depending on if you put an animal you injured out of its misery or let it bleed out to death? I love that small feature, it adds so much life into this game. but with all this new stuff that has come out in rdo, it’s like rockstar, when they DO do something for rdo, they focus on the lifeless, expensive, boring aspects of the world. you already built a base for the fun, lively aspects of the world- why not build on them and expand? it makes no sense to me. everything you said and all the points you made are very validated, needed things. every bad aspect of the game you brought up was something that needed to be brought up, and you gave an explanation why without just shitting on that aspect and the rest of the game for 22 minutes. you definitely deserve a sub and 200k more. 🤝
This wasnt stuff that was specifically made for RDO, most of this was simply copy pasted from the single player aspect, and most times in a half assed way.
The single-player ball kicks for both RDR2 and GTAV is the complete and utter lack of story mode DLC. The devs pour love into the games, the execs kick us in the balls.
There's no need to be conflicted when there's been a pattern of extremely bad & negligent behavior on Rockstar's behalf. It's basically like being on the receiving end of an abusive relationship. I've played their games since the original GTA on PS1, and I'm never giving them a dime again. I'd rather support indie devs that actually give a shit about their communities.
@@Shrieqer There wouldn't be a conflict at all if the games were shit through and through, or even mediocre like most EA and Ubisoft titles. The frustrating part is that the single-player stories are incredible to the point where you're doing yourself a disservice if you're avoiding them without a good reason. And even without DLC, or a fair and balanced MP, the games are 100% worth full price for story mode alone. Indies are great in a lot of different ways, but they literally can't offer you what RDR2 does.
Lawman = Bounty hunter prestige. you can go after players with a high enough bounty on them. and Gambler already exists, hit up any saloon, they all have card tabled would like a prospector role that allows you to gold pan and mine for valuable gems and gold nugs
@@theonlyMoancore This is what the Naturalist role should have been. A way to work with animals. The more you progress, the bigger the animals you can track, herd, and tame, eventually ending around role level 15 by including bears. Right now the Naturalist role literally does nothing new. Shoot > interact. Sure you sedate instead of kill, and you take a sample instead of skinning, but the effective gameplay is *literally* the same.
On the opposite side of your suggestions, I would like a "lawman" position that's mixed with the bounty hunter. I wanted to play RDRO as a "good guy", but there never seems to be an opportunity to do so.
I also have an idea for an role: the outlaw. Once getting the role every day you could meet with an npc that would give you information of a valuable cargo, once you get to that location you could prepare to attack the valuable cargo with dynamite but at expense of the reward, you could also attack the valuable cargo without preparation but be way more difficult. The reward could go from 250 to 500 based on the amount of damage you dealt to the cargo.
I recently picked up red dead 2 for pc during the last steam sale. Having already played through the single player a couple years back I decided I'd give online a try this time around. This really is an amazing game. But it's a little disheartening to see that Rockstar isn't giving it the attention it deserves.
I don't know if you wanted to replay the singleplayer but if it was only for the Online, there's a separate Red Dead game on Steam which only contains the Online mode.
Yea, 1 of the only games I can go back to and even just play the story again (I don't replay story modes often at all rdr2 other only 1 I can think of in the last few years
@Stavex honestly tho, it was far from perfect but no game has had me so sucked into the world. My buddy just moved back from out of state for the last few years and wasn't doing too well for himself so he never played it. I'm honestly jealous he gets to experience it for the 1st time
Another cool role that could be added is the “Rail Man” you buy one of the several railroads on the map then buy a mine or farm and specialize in an export you want. This would all be passive by the way this all goes on in the background while the player does whatever. Then when you’ve got enough material make it a transport mission which the player THEN has to get involved with to defend it as the train would make an INCREDIBLY lucrative score to would be train robbers.
@@blablabla798 either you defend it or idk hire an ai crew for 10$? Each car is upgradable. There’s defense cars with Gatling guns on it and there are passenger cars if you want to abandon the mining business entirely.
It's honestly heartbreaking to see it in this state, I understand that it's a money maker for the executives of Rockstar but it can't feel good to the actual artists who invested so much of their passion into creating this experience, only to be forced to not let their masterpiece transform into the greatest online experience it can be. They aren't given the reigns unfortunately.
They went so far as to add temperature-based _ball shrink_ to the horses as well as a million and one other minute details that most folks probably don't even notice. You don't pour that much effort into something without being passionate about it. Rockstar execs, respect your fucking devs and fans for once!
@@kaycee1076 But they never will, and until we realize that they only care about money, and ACTUALLY stop giving it to them, will it change. But based off how much they make with micro transactions in GTO, that will never happen. RIP RDR2 Online, to what could have been.
Me and my friends had a lot of fun with RDR Online, using tricks for better rewards like the daily missions, waiting for mission timers and doing the collector runs with the cheat map for hours at a time just talking, and then goofing around and buying clothes between our grinding. But it only lasted for a while before it dried up so we quit. We tried to return for the blood money missions. We did one, laughed about the fact that they added another currency and how the mission was just a copy paste thing and then we all left and we haven't played it since...

It's typical Rockstar fashion. The entire story of GTA V revolves around how the dream of one more heist can allow them enough money to buy happiness, while the underlying message is that cars, money and fame just is superfluous and not really worth chasing.

The fact that you can't rob banks is the single most mind-numbing thing you can't do in the game.
Indeed ... Cause the game is actually based on robbing BANKS first then Trains and Mansions ...etc
Yea….. it’s sad…. But that’s how businesses and markets works I’m afraid.
Oh hey professional :)
@Stephen O'Brien LOL dude have you seen the stuff you can purchase with the role tokens. I have a shit ton as well and really only saw a few things that were worth the purchase, and I wouldn’t be surprised if that was common. To my knowledge, GTAO Online also suffers from the same kind of issues RDR Online suffers.

I used to play Red Dead Online everyday with all of my friends, we would laugh, yell, lasso each other and have a great time. Love the Lawman idea. Introduce the gunslinger as a counter role, and pit the two against each other for organic and constant meaningful pvp, and that it would alter a few things regarding NPC's and available missions from Bounty Boards and Trader missions.
I could see how they would be viewed as too similar to the bounty hunter, since the bounty hunter is basically a lawman without the title.
@@overland1178 it would be really cool if you could unlock lawmen outfits. it would be amazing for roleplay

That's been my question this whole time...why doesn't Rockstar want easy money
Just play hunt showdown
They already have zombie models, I remember coming across hackers in RDO that would send zombies and skeletons attacking me. Even had ai for the zombies.
I think the time based missions are that way so that people can’t rip through them fast and stack up money fast. They should just make them all the same base payout and not include the time as a factor. Instead pay out more for doing more things like killing, looting, collecting, and side objectives. That will make people take longer but will make it actually fun for them.

I think the online was supposed to take place after the story because you see for sale properties in the epilogue

Reduce prices and upgrade payouts
Easier ways to buy wagons and more wagons
More roles like Native American (credit to some guy in comments)
Lawman like you implied
Bonuses for being in a posse
Posse only missions

More stranger missions
Better payouts for fishing and hunting
Being able to steal wagons and horses and keep some of them (like npc cars in gta)
Having missions with John marston??
Missions with strangers from story mode
And that’s it, according to me
The thing is if you reduce the prices it would be bad the prices now are low a Mauser used to cost 1000 each
A few little houses to buy wouldn’t be to bad either
You already have missions given by Strangers from the story mode. Like Sadie Addler, before her husband was killed.
How would having missions with Marston work story wise. Rdo is set before rdr2 story mode.
Not adding new stuff is the thing that destroys this perfect game. Most griefers are either people whove done everything and just kill people or new people who don't know any better. It has so much potential, yet so little care.

Oh. I almost forgot. THE STRANGERS USED TO HAVE TREASURE MAPS THAT YOU COULD GET AS REWARD OR STEAL THEN THEY RIPPED IT OUT COMPLETELY
This idea is gold! I've wanted heists in rdo since 2019... I thought it would have happened honestly.
The girl who's posse it was acted like I was a liar and said, "I'm not reading paragraphs, loser."
I quit to my Xbox menu, baffled as to wtf just happened lol

You hit everything on point buddy. This game has incredible potential but rockstar just feeds us scraps!
Appreciate it!
Me and the crew end up chilling for 5-10 minutes two meters from the end of the mission to get an extra 100$
Bad for gameplay man.
I just feel like there’s nothing to do
For the Lawman role, once you fully completed one mission, you get given the police badge (that you can add or remove through your wardrobe).
Maybe the more missions you do, the better the badge. Bronze, silver, gold, platinum, etc
This hits so close to home... I love RDO and I want it to be so much better.
It would be so easy to make it the best online game out there simply by making it closer to the story mode.
Doesn’t seem very simple, that would take years of work...
I loved red dead 2 singleplayer, but RDO is pretty mediocre. I only play it nowadays a little bit during the holidays since it's snowing.
This was extremly well made and I entirely agree. Without a doubt it feels like there's just sooo much untapped potential from this game. The multiplayer system and modes, zombies or aliens DLC, there's so much they can do but whatever I guess.
And if they do now its way too late
Thank you so much!!
The Grindy game paradox:
You want to grind for better gear, but the better gear is just for more grinding.
GTA 5 is the same way
@@Batmannerz But it still carries the reward of being fun to use.
Absolute top notch video here! Nailed all the points and reasons I kinda dwindled out of the game
Hell yea Kev
This from the guy who played fallout 76 for a really long time 😜
There's so many simple things they could do thst would probably not take all that much effort in comparison to some of the crazy stuff they add to GTA and it would make the game so much better like.

Yooooo its the Guy!!
I sincerely hope this channel takes off. The editing is genius, he’s actually funny. This is some legitimately good content. I hope you make it sir.
Enjoy.
What platform? If we are the same, I'll ride with you.

No one is really alone, they just haven’t met enough people yet
the story mode of this game is by far the best story I've ever played. we just need the same effort put into the online multiplayer.
I stopped playing online when I kept getting killed while hunting animals or picking herbs.
The psychos even shot my horse.
100% agree, an amazing story.
if they even put in half the effort into red dead online that they put into the story, rdo would be substantially better than it currently is
I’m not sure if you guys knew this but it took Rockstar 8 years of development to make The Incredible game known as Red Dead Redemption 2.
@@TheTruth-13 this is why i always say rdr online shouldn't exist at all. It's nothing but a stain on the games rep.
Man rockstar (and frankly most gaming company’s these days) need more people like you on their team, they don’t want to innovate, too scared to trade profit for creativity and content.
Lol. I think you mean he's the type of person who should be giving devs money. Who the devs actually listen to the share holders
The channels with the most subs in my country have less than 20 million, top 50 average is ~ 3 million subs and 20k subs are already not bad over here 😅

This is one of the main reasons I no longer support Rockstar.
Nice work!
Thanks so much!! That means alot :)

you said all things I have in mind for a long time. a master piece like RDR2 has been ruined by the worst personnel
Unfortunately they made it as well tho (and it's an amazing game)
100% true.
This wasnt stuff that was specifically made for RDO, most of this was simply copy pasted from the single player aspect, and most times in a half assed way.
I'm so conflicted because they put so much love into the single-player and they just kicked us in the balls for the multiplayer
same thing happened with gta 5
The single-player ball kicks for both RDR2 and GTAV is the complete and utter lack of story mode DLC. The devs pour love into the games, the execs kick us in the balls.
Usually how it happens when the single player is great, I wasn’t mad though since I only bought it for single player
The Lawman is an excellent role idea that I've told my friends about over a year ago.
Rancher/farmhand
Mining/panning for gold
Gambler
Hell even a stage coach driver 😭😂😂😂
Lawman = Bounty hunter prestige. you can go after players with a high enough bounty on them.
and Gambler already exists, hit up any saloon, they all have card tabled
would like a prospector role that allows you to gold pan and mine for valuable gems and gold nugs
Horse Breeder = take wild horse and raise certain breeds to make good money
@@PMMillard But the Lawman role he suggested is a lot more beneficial and fun.
I would also like a role where you collect like Arthur for Strauss
Never happening good idea doe
@@jacklesmithda3rd502 Yeah, there's no way Rockstar would give you $500 for a mission. They still need people to spend real money.

This really is an amazing game. But it's a little disheartening to see that Rockstar isn't giving it the attention it deserves.
I don't know if you wanted to replay the singleplayer but if it was only for the Online, there's a separate Red Dead game on Steam which only contains the Online mode.

Then when you’ve got enough material make it a transport mission which the player THEN has to get involved with to defend it as the train would make an INCREDIBLY lucrative score to would be train robbers.
