    Thanks for posting the data. I took the liberty of crunching the numbers, the 80 lbs recurve is producing ~11 ft lbs ke, the regular compound ~18, except when shooting the hunting arrow the energy dropped, makes me think there was an issue with those two shots, the energy should either stay the same or increase. Lastly the reverse recurve about 30 ft lbs, very consistent energy across the board.

      Any thoughts on the respective levels of momentum?

    • @Daws724
      @Daws724 Год назад +1

      Energy isn't always consistent across the board, you can lose a good amount of energy from shooting too heavy of an arrow/bolt.. just a 50 grain difference can lose 20+ ft lbs of energy.. I shoot a 190lb draw crossbow and have seen it with mine.. I lost 15 ft lbs of energy with a 35 grain heavier bolt.. I went from 383 fps to 352... that actually lowered my energy by around 15 ft lbs, any higher and my crossbow would have trouble pushing it and tremendously lower my energy. There's a sweet spot when it comes to crossbows an energy

    • @bokkenwielderful
      @bokkenwielderful Год назад +1

      @@Daws724 this seems to be a feature of compound bows, the increase projectile mass causes more friction in the bearing surfaces. Or at least that is my hypothesis.

    • @Daws724
      @Daws724 Год назад +1

      @bokkenwielderful it's not just compounds, it happens with recurve too.. the drive comes from the spring action of the limbs, if the arrow is too heavy for that spring action there is a lot of energy transfer loss, resulting in less kinetic energy

I would like to believe that it would hit and penetrate a deer 🦌 at 35 - 40 but the most ideal shot would be within the 15 - 20 yard mark ... I shoot THORN RIFT 2.2 BROADHEADS in my Centerpoint sniper and they are bad ass and I've taken alot of mature bucks & does with that particular broadhead and it's even came threw for me on really bad shot at a buck chasing a hot doe and I hit gut and the bolt exited the rear and inbeded into the inside offside back ham bone but it did knock deer down, he took a seat briefly and when he got to his feet the bolt worked itself out and there was a major blood trail for 100 yards to his final resting place , anywho what I'm getting at is the THORN BROADHEADS truly shoot better than my practice/ field points and I believe if you were to shoot a THORN BROADHEAD not necessarily a RIFT but the smaller cutting diameter broadhead that out of the mini Stryker the bolt & THORN broadhead set up would be accurate and deadly out to 35 - 40 yards... long story short 😆 I WOULD REALLY LOVE FOR YOU TO CHECK OUT / TRY OUT THE THORN BROADHEADS SHOOTING OUT OF THAT LIL BAD ASS MINI STRYKER.... I WILL EMAIL THE OWNER OF THE BROADHEAD COMPANY WHICH IS HERE IN N.C. WHERE I LIVE BORN AND RAISED AND SEE IF HE WILL SEND U A SET TO TRY OUT OF YOUR MINI BOW AND MAKE A RUclips VIDEO... I REALLY THINK YOU WILL BE SURPRISED AT THE ACCURACY AND THE KILLING CAPABILITY OF THE THORN BROADHEADS, I AM A ADVOCATE OF THEM NOW AND I STOPPED SHOOTING ALL OTHER MECHANICALS LIKE, RAGE , GRIM REAPER , SHWACKER, ETC. & THE THORNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED IN MY QUIVER ... I WOULDN'T WANT TO GO AFTER MY TARGET BUCK WITH ANYTHING ELSE ! I AM CONFIDENT IN MYSELF AND MY SETUP WHEN I AM ARMED WITH THORN ... THE RIFT 2.2 CUTTING DIAMONDS HAVE HIDDEN BLADES UNTIL CONTACT & THERES NO RUBBER BANDS , O RINGS OR ALL THE RIFT RAFF THEY HAVE RIP TIPS ON THE RIFT AND THE NEW THORN "XV" BROADHEADS BROADHEADS HAVE MORE TRADITIONAL POINT, BUT I THOUGHT IN BEGINNING USING THE RIFT 2.2 WITH A RIP TIP POINT THAT I WOULD LOSE FPE & PENETRATION BUT I'VE NOT HAD A PROBLEM & HAVE HAD ALL PASS THROUGH SHOTS MINUS THE GUT INSIDE BACK HAM SHOT , BUT U WOULD PROBABLY SHOOT A DIFFERENT BROADHEAD FROM THORN , LIKE THE ( CROWN ) FIXED BLADE THATS AWSOME ACCURATE/ DEADLY CRAZY WOUND CHANNEL LIKE NO OTHER , THE XV , IG , IG ETC. THERE ARE MANY OPTIONS TO CHOOSE FROM SO PLEASE DO US BOTH A FAVOR AFYER READING THIS LONG DIALOG OF A BOOK AND CHECK OUT AMERICAN MADE THORN BROADHEADS. ... THANKS AND I SUBSCRIBED, LIKED & FOLLOW U SO KEEP THE VIDEOS COMING ! TAKE CARE PARTNER !

      @@cray-z7404 I'll check them broadheads out! I have no doubt the bow will make the long shots you're referring to. I think the problem you will have is the deer moving before the arrow finds its mark. The bolts I use for hunting are traveling way slower than I usually like to hunt with.
      With the Mini Striker my hunting bolts are traveling around 130fps which would give a deer almost a full second to spin after hearing the shot at 40 yards. That's asking for a gut shot. The speeds are a little better with the Reverse Limb Striker but not comparable to larger crossbows.
      I don't have much room to play with either, here in Oklahoma, when it comes to the bolts I'm shooting. Laws here specify types of bolts that can be used while crossbow hunting.

    In Europe they called FMA Supersonic and FMA Supersonic rev.and claimed that first one is 330fps wirh 140 grain bolt.and REV 420 fps....lie is everiwhere

      I haven't got those speeds out of them. Maybe if ya shoot one of them 100 gr darts but I'm afraid that would almost be like dry firing it.

    I have a great idea for a video. How about getting a bunch of coconuts and test real world penetration profile at different grainage just like you did with the chrony in this video. To compare kinetic energy output with actual real world movement through a tough target.

    • @TheWaterSwatters
      @TheWaterSwatters  2 года назад

      That's a good idea! I've got some real penetration results if you watch some of my deer hunting videos. They give a person a good idea how well these bolt penerate critters on the hoof!

    The manufacturer says 420fps per out of the reverse limb but not any arrows you shot were even remotely close to that. unless they're just lying to sell a product they must have been shooting plastic straws to get that kind of speed. I detest false advertising😢

    • @TheWaterSwatters
      @TheWaterSwatters  Год назад

      Yeah I'm really disappointed in that too. I don't think they will get anywhere close to that. I haven't gotten close to the 330fps they say the forward limb bow will shoot either.
