Look at you with all that fancy equipment! That reverse limb is smoking for such a compact bow. Good stuff
Lol I had to borrow that gadget! I agree that thing is pushing those bolts fast for such a small bow.
@@TheWaterSwatters that sounds more like you 😆. That’s a really good video, I watch those every once in a while and they’re super technical and long and drawn out. Simple and to the point…..great job
@TheWaterSwatters did you use a normal fishing pole handle and connect to the hell hawk? Or is that some kind of kit. Not clear enough when I zoom in to be able to tell
Thanks for the information it’ll help a lot when building the bolts
Thanks for posting the data. I took the liberty of crunching the numbers, the 80 lbs recurve is producing ~11 ft lbs ke, the regular compound ~18, except when shooting the hunting arrow the energy dropped, makes me think there was an issue with those two shots, the energy should either stay the same or increase. Lastly the reverse recurve about 30 ft lbs, very consistent energy across the board.
Sweet!
Any thoughts on the respective levels of momentum?
Energy isn't always consistent across the board, you can lose a good amount of energy from shooting too heavy of an arrow/bolt.. just a 50 grain difference can lose 20+ ft lbs of energy.. I shoot a 190lb draw crossbow and have seen it with mine.. I lost 15 ft lbs of energy with a 35 grain heavier bolt.. I went from 383 fps to 352... that actually lowered my energy by around 15 ft lbs, any higher and my crossbow would have trouble pushing it and tremendously lower my energy. There's a sweet spot when it comes to crossbows an energy
@@Daws724 this seems to be a feature of compound bows, the increase projectile mass causes more friction in the bearing surfaces. Or at least that is my hypothesis.
@bokkenwielderful it's not just compounds, it happens with recurve too.. the drive comes from the spring action of the limbs, if the arrow is too heavy for that spring action there is a lot of energy transfer loss, resulting in less kinetic energy
Very good info, ive been waiting for this, thanks man!! Good stuff brother!!
Thanks!
Excellent comparison of bow and arrows!
Awesome video bro. Trying to decide if I wanted the reverse and you just answered all my questions. Thanks man.
Great video sir, just a quick notice - when you attach the bolt and the bow is loaded, you don’t wanna put your hand in front of the arrow, there is a chance that these strings slip out of the socket.
Yeah that would be a bad day!
Dang this was a really cool video man 👊 Those Mini strikers are pushin some speed.
Yeah they're next level for sure! At least for pistol crossbows.
Very interesting, bought me a SAS manticore 150lb crossbow on Amazon for right around 100 bucks along side some 18 inch bolts and a pack of 150 grain slick tricks. Killed a couple raccoons very efficiently in the backyard and a doe this morning here in Indiana. Very impressed and happy for the price.
I bought one very similar to that years ago when they first made crossbows legal here in OK. It got the job done for me. The next year I bought a Barnett Quat 400 and that's the one I shot for years until RUclips came along. Bet I killed 25 or so deer with that old Barnett.
@@TheWaterSwattersI just looked that crossbow up and it was recalled for injury hazard💀
Thanks for the info 👍
I just put a 341gr bolt I made through the chronograph at 266fps with my now reliable bow 😂 I haven’t even started cranking up the power since fixing it again 😮😅
Great video..everything I needed to know.. I was wondering what kind to buy..thanks
Thank you for good video!
What happened to 420 fps reverse mini crossbow! Maybe using a toothpick arrows will it reach 1000 fps!🤪👍
Thank you for that information 🙏
hello brother, you may already know it or if not, there’s an easy way to fixed your fletching if they’re warped or bent badly…all you do is just dip them quickly in a hot water and take them out… you’re plastic fletching will straighten out again.
This I did not know, thanks!
Great video thanks, I've just bought the VLAD crossbow seams great for squirrel etc,
I'll have to look that one up.
New to your channel, you seem like a pretty cool dude and knowledgeable, thinking about getting one of the mini strikers...thx!
I've had a lot of fun with it!
That’s interesting I’ve got a supersonic rev on it’s way but my drakon with recurve limbs is pushing 327fps with 130grain bolts 😮
Where are you buying it and for how much? And when you get it, can you tell me if you can attach the wt mini striker magazine upgrade to it
Show an accuracy content please
Do you have the more powerful one the 420 ? How far can you shoot a deer with them?
The reverse limb bow is the one advertised as being capable of shooting 420 fps. I'm not real sure where they get that. I've shot deer out to 15 yards with the reverse limb bow and a forward limb bow with 150lb limbs. That's about as far as I would try it. The forward limb bow with 120lb limbs I won't shoot any further than 10 yards at a deer.
I think the 420fps is bull it’s the same crossbow your shooting with reverse limp with a different brand name. Just so people can buy it
Great Video very informative.
Looks like reverse striker has decent speed.God bless.
I did not know that the Xbow fma Supersonic and Supersonic Rev are called Mini Striker and Rev Mini Striker for the American market. I bought mine under the first name over her in Europe and was wondering why I couldn't find it in any American shop.
It also goes by ballista bat over here
I think we put to much into speed and not energy delivered at the point of impact. Remember there are folks that kill pigs, bear and deer with wooden bows. Thanks to your videos these modern mini crossbows have proven worthy hunting tools.
Another just Awesome crossbow is the EK Archery RX Adder !!!!!!!!
I've been looking into those EK bows.
Hey could you test the vlad but single feed a heavier air like 400 gr. plus through the chrony?
Judging by your figures the adder hits close to this crossbow?
Or am I missing something
Very nice crossbow 👍 I miss hunting for sure and get harder when I’m watching you buddy 😕 happy thanksgiving 🦃
Happy Thanksgiving Gary!
That soo cool test man!!
Here’s an interesting idea I’d like to see you do, how a speed test with & without the multi shot magazine, I’d bet it loses about 20 🤔
I didn't even think about it but I bet you're right. The friction probably takes a little off of it.
Hella cool keep the cool shit coming
I just bought the forward limb Mini Striker. Which is better?
Night vision goggles next yr an it’s on!!
Lol I'm leaving this one alone!
Good video. I going to buy me one pretty soon.
They're pretty slick, them rabbits around you won't know what hit them!
Surprisingly enough with the 355 bolt you took the deer with out of the bat you were only getting 13.5 ft lbs. The reason it was so effective is momentum! The least looked at part of the archery penetration equation.
I noticed one of my comments got taken down. Did you get to see it before it got taken down. I went through which bolts were producing the most kinetic energy for each bow.
I didn't see it but it wasn't me who took it down. That would be pretty cool info!
@@TheWaterSwatters I've got this for you. The alligator produces its most with the 295 gr. Bolt with 13 ft lbs of kinetic energy. The supersonic produces its most with the 295 grain bolt with 18 ft lbs of Kinetic energy. While the reverse limb model is the only one getting the highest kinetic energy with the 355 gr bolt at a whooping 32 ft lbs of penetration.
@@john9147 sweet! I'll have to do another speed test with the bat. It has 150lb limbs. The bolt I used with the bat, when I shot the deer, weighed 325 grains, I made a mistake in the video when I said 425. Should've included that bow too. I think I've confused people by using the Striker and the Bat in separate videos since they are the same bow just branded different.
But when I shot the deer with the Striker I was using 120lb limbs and the bolt I made. When I used the Bat I had 150lb limbs on it with a custom bolt Ballista sent me.
@@TheWaterSwatters Oh and sense I said this in the comment you didn't see earlier I'm citizen x.
After watching a bunch of your videos, my question is, which one do you think is the better one, the Ballista Bat Reverse or the Mini Striker Reverse?
They're the exact same bow, branded and sold by different companies
@@TheWaterSwatters Thx man, I really appreciate it, specially the freaking fast response, less than an hour.
I recently bought the same or similar crossbow to the first 80lb 1 you shot. I would like to know what is the maximum range you are shooting this at and getting reasonable accuracy.
I recently subbed to your channel and have been binge watching for the last few days. Thanks for sharing it is an awesome channel. Kind regards from Tyrone in South Africa
If I'm using good bolts I do good out to about 10 or 12 yards. I had some cheap aluminum bolts that I couldn't get to shoot consistent at any range.
@The Water Swatters so the key is the quality of the bolts. In South Africa we have warthog which are pretty tough, similar probably to your hogs. Do you think the 80lb with a broadhead could take a warthog
Well it’s all about the shot placement and being close enough to get the right shot done @@African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner
awesome video but do you know if the 80lb pistol bow can use 3 fletch bolts?
Not really....maybe if you put the third fletching foward of the retainer clip. There is no slot in the rail for the third fletching to go into like on bigger crossbows.
Question, which mini crossbow would you recommend for hunting, the Ballista Bat reverse limb, or the Striker reverse limb?
They're the same bow just branded and sold by different companies. I use the Strikers these days!
@@TheWaterSwatters is there any particular reason why you are using the Strikers?
Thank you for your test. What is the pull value of the last test object in pounds?
Both the Strikers have 120lb draws. The reverse limb has an inch and a half longer power stroke.
@@TheWaterSwatters The kinetic energy of the anti limb crossbow finally tested is 32J?
On the 80 pound bow dont u have to use smaller dia carbon arrows? Do u have a site u buy or u can post what u buy to make up those arrows yourself?i cant find any good field points to fit those smaller dia cause cant find inserts to fit them to screw in field points or broadheads into.thanks . and do u think the striker bows will last awhile i noticed on the site that sells them they have reconditioned of those bows just curious what happend to those if maybe limbs break or other weak parts .
I make my bolts by cutting down standard crossbow bolts. They don't seat all the way against the string but I haven't had any problems with that.
I'm not sure how long they last. I haven't had any trouble but probably haven't put 100 shots threw any of them. If I have problems I'll make sure I let everyone know.
Did you zip tie the fishing reel attachment on the hellhawk? Or was it on the rail?
I use to zip tie it but now I attach it to the rail with a scope ring
@@TheWaterSwatters great idea. I’ve bought the hellhawk since watching your videos. The striker too expensive right now sadly.
on the reverse was that the 150# limb? Id like to see if they come out with 175# limbs then test
I'm honestly not sure I'd have to put it on a scale. When it was sent to me I was told it had 120lb limbs I was later advised that was a mistake and it has 150lb limbs. I believe they are 150lb limbs.
yea they 150# on reverse bow.@@TheWaterSwatters
Hello...I have a question, did you remove 1 flight from your arrow??? I see these are a standard size for a regular bow.....It would help me if I knew how to get an arrow with 2 flights....Can I just remove a single flight from the rear of the arrow?
I cut the arrow down then fletched it.
Price kitna hai
thank you for the great content.
Thanks for watching!!!
Probably not good for the reverse draw bow to be shooting those light bolts
Yeah those are about as light as I'll go. I won't even shoot those small plastic darts out of the forward limb bow.
@@TheWaterSwatters i still wanna see the little hell hawk drop a pig
Now you gotta shoot em into ballistics gel!
Lol I tell ya what if this video gets a million views I hunt up some ballistics gel!
3:20 - you should be more careful how you load the bolts. This is an accident waiting to happen.
Fun video nonetheless.
You're very right, thanks!
Do you know if there is any difference between the William Tell Bow vs the Balista?
Not a thing. They're the same bow branded and sold by different companies.
@@TheWaterSwatters Thank you SIr. Just found your channel and Subscribed.
What is the trigger block made out of because I bought a few crossbows and the trigger block wears out overtime. Is this thing future proof or has it got a time limit?
I haven't had problems with the trigger block on any of them yet. I think they are made with a combination of aluminum and plastic. The strings are under such tension they wear out quick. Even if they aren't frayed they stretch putting the bow out of tune. Once replaced the bow shoots fine again.
@@TheWaterSwatters Can the strings be changed without a bow press?
Isn't this a Supersonic REV imitation? The Supersonic includes a stock. It's the same thing between EK Archery (Cobra) and Cold Steel. I wonder what's that all about.
Yeah I'm pretty sure they are all the same bows. Striker, supersonic, ballista bat ete all bows purchased from a Chinese Company and resold under different brand names.
I'm sure the question has been asked but just 2 vain? I have a crossbow and use 3
Nope first time anyone brought that up! The pistol crossbows don't have a slot in the rail and the retainer clip on top so there is nowhere for the 3rd vain.
What will be the difference between bat 130lb vs mini striker 120lb?
I don't think there is a difference I think they started saying 130 for marketing purposes.
Makes sense. I just bought the mini Striker today from WT to use it for small game and fishing. thank you for your response and your videos. They are very helpful.
It is possible to shoot a 14" with 3 fletches
Not really there is no groove or slot in the rail because the cocking pulleys are under it. The top has the arrow retainer so unless you put the 3rd fletching way forward of the other 2, then....not really.
best overall performing bow was the 295 grain, performing with optimal 18~21 Joules of energy out of the bows. but the last bow performed the best with the 355 grain at 202 fps for a total of 43 Joules! thats a lot a joules with a sharp broadhead arrow it should more then enough the kill basically anything within its range! from deers to bears if it hits vitals. at 60m/s I recomend not shooting after 30m of distance!
Thank you for all that info
Good crossbow but In mainland of China that is assault weapons so want to get it not easy I think that is very cool sports!
They're a powerful weapon. I've killed three deer with them so far. Twice the bow shot the bolt all the way through the deer.
They call it the balista now that who is sell the last bow you shot.
Yeah there a couple companies selling them here now. They have different names for them but there the same bow.
Gearhead woops
That reverse limb mini Stryker is a bad mamajama says online shoots 60 + meters
They'll sling a bolt that far but there will be several inches of drop.
In my opinion the effective range for the reverse limb bow is 25 yards for small game and 15... maybe 20 yards for large game like deer.
@@TheWaterSwatters you should know better than anyone being you are actual owner of one and have experience shooting the mini crossbow , but I still want to believe shooting at a deer broadside 20 inch area of target from belly to backbone that you could hit a deer out to 35 - 40 yards pushing the limits of the mini Stryker... I would like to believe that it would hit and penetrate a deer 🦌 at 35 - 40 but the most ideal shot would be within the 15 - 20 yard mark ... I shoot THORN RIFT 2.2 BROADHEADS in my Centerpoint sniper and they are bad ass and I've taken alot of mature bucks & does with that particular broadhead and it's even came threw for me on really bad shot at a buck chasing a hot doe and I hit gut and the bolt exited the rear and inbeded into the inside offside back ham bone but it did knock deer down, he took a seat briefly and when he got to his feet the bolt worked itself out and there was a major blood trail for 100 yards to his final resting place , anywho what I'm getting at is the THORN BROADHEADS truly shoot better than my practice/ field points and I believe if you were to shoot a THORN BROADHEAD not necessarily a RIFT but the smaller cutting diameter broadhead that out of the mini Stryker the bolt & THORN broadhead set up would be accurate and deadly out to 35 - 40 yards... long story short 😆 I WOULD REALLY LOVE FOR YOU TO CHECK OUT / TRY OUT THE THORN BROADHEADS SHOOTING OUT OF THAT LIL BAD ASS MINI STRYKER.... I WILL EMAIL THE OWNER OF THE BROADHEAD COMPANY WHICH IS HERE IN N.C. WHERE I LIVE BORN AND RAISED AND SEE IF HE WILL SEND U A SET TO TRY OUT OF YOUR MINI BOW AND MAKE A RUclips VIDEO... I REALLY THINK YOU WILL BE SURPRISED AT THE ACCURACY AND THE KILLING CAPABILITY OF THE THORN BROADHEADS, I AM A ADVOCATE OF THEM NOW AND I STOPPED SHOOTING ALL OTHER MECHANICALS LIKE, RAGE , GRIM REAPER , SHWACKER, ETC. & THE THORNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED IN MY QUIVER ... I WOULDN'T WANT TO GO AFTER MY TARGET BUCK WITH ANYTHING ELSE ! I AM CONFIDENT IN MYSELF AND MY SETUP WHEN I AM ARMED WITH THORN ... THE RIFT 2.2 CUTTING DIAMONDS HAVE HIDDEN BLADES UNTIL CONTACT & THERES NO RUBBER BANDS , O RINGS OR ALL THE RIFT RAFF THEY HAVE RIP TIPS ON THE RIFT AND THE NEW THORN "XV" BROADHEADS BROADHEADS HAVE MORE TRADITIONAL POINT, BUT I THOUGHT IN BEGINNING USING THE RIFT 2.2 WITH A RIP TIP POINT THAT I WOULD LOSE FPE & PENETRATION BUT I'VE NOT HAD A PROBLEM & HAVE HAD ALL PASS THROUGH SHOTS MINUS THE GUT INSIDE BACK HAM SHOT , BUT U WOULD PROBABLY SHOOT A DIFFERENT BROADHEAD FROM THORN , LIKE THE ( CROWN ) FIXED BLADE THATS AWSOME ACCURATE/ DEADLY CRAZY WOUND CHANNEL LIKE NO OTHER , THE XV , IG , IG ETC. THERE ARE MANY OPTIONS TO CHOOSE FROM SO PLEASE DO US BOTH A FAVOR AFYER READING THIS LONG DIALOG OF A BOOK AND CHECK OUT AMERICAN MADE THORN BROADHEADS. ... THANKS AND I SUBSCRIBED, LIKED & FOLLOW U SO KEEP THE VIDEOS COMING ! TAKE CARE PARTNER !
@@cray-z7404 I'll check them broadheads out! I have no doubt the bow will make the long shots you're referring to. I think the problem you will have is the deer moving before the arrow finds its mark. The bolts I use for hunting are traveling way slower than I usually like to hunt with.
With the Mini Striker my hunting bolts are traveling around 130fps which would give a deer almost a full second to spin after hearing the shot at 40 yards. That's asking for a gut shot. The speeds are a little better with the Reverse Limb Striker but not comparable to larger crossbows.
I don't have much room to play with either, here in Oklahoma, when it comes to the bolts I'm shooting. Laws here specify types of bolts that can be used while crossbow hunting.
Understand completely 💯
In Europe they called FMA Supersonic and FMA Supersonic rev.and claimed that first one is 330fps wirh 140 grain bolt.and REV 420 fps....lie is everiwhere
I haven't got those speeds out of them. Maybe if ya shoot one of them 100 gr darts but I'm afraid that would almost be like dry firing it.
I have a great idea for a video. How about getting a bunch of coconuts and test real world penetration profile at different grainage just like you did with the chrony in this video. To compare kinetic energy output with actual real world movement through a tough target.
That's a good idea! I've got some real penetration results if you watch some of my deer hunting videos. They give a person a good idea how well these bolt penerate critters on the hoof!
@@TheWaterSwatters for sure.
Guess the reverse limb has more power than standard ones
I has a longer power stroke....gives it a little more ump!
THEY NEED TO MAKE ONE THAT CAN DO 600 FPS! 💪😁 ACCURACY AT 100 YARDS. TRIPPLE THE PRICE ILL BUY 2.
You might have to stick with a rifle lol for half the price.
The manufacturer says 420fps per out of the reverse limb but not any arrows you shot were even remotely close to that. unless they're just lying to sell a product they must have been shooting plastic straws to get that kind of speed. I detest false advertising😢
Yeah I'm really disappointed in that too. I don't think they will get anywhere close to that. I haven't gotten close to the 330fps they say the forward limb bow will shoot either.
If you didn't stack a second target there you would have shot a hole through into one of your tractor tires that would have been a good video
Lol a good video but a bad day!

Where is the ballista bat?
I told them I wouldn't do videos with both company's products in it. I'll have to do another one with Ballista's bows I just haven't gotten around to it.
@@TheWaterSwatters gotcha. I didn’t realize it was a single company review, thanks!
Which now has been your favorite? I’m kinda set on the ballista.
@@txdocprich_8404 my favorite is the reverse limb striker. The bat and the mini striker are the same bow just branded differently. No doubt the bat is next level if ya got 150lb limbs on it.
I think it not any faster. If it is I wanna see a video like the one you made here. I’ve been asking him for one to prove it can shoot 420 fps
Your thoughts on the hellwak ? It is good for small game?
Absolutely and it's by far my favorite bowfishing rig paired up with them metal fishing darts
