In today’s video we will be taking a look at the new RG405M it’s one of the latest handhelds from China with the T6-18 chipset but this time with a metal shell and 4” 4:3 screen so for all the older systems this is beautiful. So let’s get right in to the unboxing and see if this new handheld from Anbernic is for you?

I'm still enjoying my 505 but I also like the overall slim design of the 405. Still waiting on the previews for the Max 3, Max 3 Pro, RGB30, Trimui Smart Pro, Trimui Smart Brick, Miyoo Mini Flip and ANBERNIC Win701.
Ordered mine today, looking forward to try batocera on it 🙏
Is it a developer build? I don’t think they have it up on there page do they?

I only have an RG35XX, my first retro emulation handheld. I was considering the Retro Pocket 3+ as my next device, wanting handheld N64 and DreamCast emulation, but with each review I see I am leaning more and more towards the RG405M as my second purchase.
And I keep forgetting it's $240 CAD 😬

I'm still trying to get my head round this, forgive me for being a bit thick, is this straight out of the box, with no mods, Zelda ran on the system that this comes with, without having to add it?
Dumb question, but how do you get these into the UK? Could you recommend a reliable site and whats the issue with import tax etc. Many thanks

Nice video mate. Thinking about replacing my rg353v with this purely for wii and GameCube. Do you think that’s the right way to go? Also, could you please test Metroid prime 2/1 Mario kart wii and the prime trilogy? Thanks man
the prime games run poorly both 1 and 2 sadly Mario kart Wii runs ok on sum trades not on others so I would get a Odin pro or Odin light for them games. or a steam deck. or wait for a much more powerful chipset to be honest with you.

Well for me Metroid Prime 1 works almost perfecly exept during cutscene like 30% drop for game speed and 35-70% for fps at worst. I use the same emulator I guess Dolphin MMJR and the daijisho frontend. I may have better settings. I haven't tested mario kart yet but Ill do it soon
Mario kart Wii run pretty well for me 51 to 60 fps and 95% game speed
Can we get a video of PSP long play? I know that majority everything should work well. I’m more interested in seeing how it looks on this screen since the resolution isn’t as great the rpg3+. Would like to hear your thoughts on how it looks ok this device.
Sadly mine stopped working not sure why I have sent it back so if I get back I will do a video on psp but it dose play well and looks ok on it
What do you personally prefer 505 or 405m or 405v?
Am waiting on the 405v to arrive and really excited about it having that display I know it’s a chunky one but I personally would go for the 405v but that just my opinion! I do think the 405 and the 505 are solid handhelds but again it’s what you like more than me they are very well made but I think for me the 405V wins the show

Does this Handheld still come with the Skittles Buttons? I actually like those.

I also prefer the look of the metallic mint green with the skittles colored buttons!
Screen size is good.. let down by low pixel density. Shame, could've been a great device

Is the game killer instinct in it?
I got one without the tf card how do i start downloading roms this my first time emulating anything i need help completely clueless on how to get the games on a sd card
It's a legal gray area so you will rarely find people giving you direct instructions. I will just say there is a subreddit "/r/roms" with a bunch of guides linked in the subreddit info section that should eventually lead you to where you want to go.
does it come with games installed?
It depends if the seller includes them but they normally state it if they do

No games come with it sadly you have to add roms yourself! But that also depends on what seller you buy it from
I will pass on this,I prefer vertical hand held more. I wonder if there will be one with a bigger screen than 3.5". Also I have the 505 and it's too heavy and the games are not even alphabetized. The game selection is not to my liking for the most part and if you mess it up in the settings, it's a nightmare to restore it. Even anbernic themselves didn't know how to help me. I don't think I will buy anymore from them unless they improve.
Be nice to see a 4 inch 4:3 display like in this but on a vertical handheld if anyone is going to do it Anbernic will
Switch to diajishu front end for the emulation over their rgmode.
Retro has a great video on setting it up.
Looks nice & compact machine with the T618 in it ,like to see how super mario sunshine fares on this ,i get about 30 fps on my oppo A97 which seems okay enough,but a handheld with physical controls is better than whipping your phone out and setting up a external controller which is tiresome for me
I think once the new set of handhelds arrive with a higher chipset you will start to see better all round performance with higher end emulation but I don’t think it will be this year, I think next year we will get better high end emulation on handhelds and I hope some are Linux based to

Seriously though I dont needa large amount, just something with a 'decent' screen size, ergonomics, and plays what I want.
The win600 still isnt a perfect handheld but it suits most of my wants/needs, and the best Ive had so far.
@@fonzitheman Would you be interested in the Win701 whenever it arrives? It will more likely have a 7 inch display, longer battery life and a micro sd card slot (this is what ANBERNIC should have done to begin with).

If its 7" it that would already make it more expensive than the win600,even if its 6",most likely then it would have a more powerful chipset, wihich again would make it more expensive.
The win600 already cost more than I originally wanted to pay for a handheld so paying more for a win701,Im not keen on that.
Having said all that, yeah. Im still interested 😇☺️
We'll see what all the specs are and pricing eventually. So who knows.
Besides, I could always sell the win600 and put the funds towards a 701 😁😉
But I dunno.

Than you have to wait very long. Or you must pay over 400 bucks right now. Even the most expensive android phones COULDN'T handle some games.
100% that’s what I want. Not a huge steam deck (I do have one) but a smaller device like this that plays ps2, psp, n64, gamecube and Dreamcast along with the usual lower end consoles. It will happen within the next year. These new retro style consoles have come a long way in a short period of time, won’t be long

@Sonic Love Emulation did your analogue sticks make a springy noise when rocking or rotating them? I just got mine and found I have this issue, I was wondering if this is normal as my rg350m sticks make no noise after 3 years heavy play
