- These Anbernic handhelds are insane! Every iteration better than the last. The RG505 has been out for almost a year, and I really wanted to see what it could do. Is it worth the squeeze? Let's take a look and compare it to the SupaBoy Hyper Beach Edition, RG353V, and RG353P. Better option than the upcoming Switch 2?

I have the Supaboy too. I was also a bit disappointed with the quality of the screen.
As for Anbernic, I have the 280V but the RG505 seems awesome. Anbernic has definitely come a long way.

Just ordered the smaller 4:3 one, the rg405m. These cheap handheld emulators are so much fun.
I think the 505 would look great with a custom skin. I wish it could also be consolized. I always get a big kick out of the little handhelds being able to have the extra option to do so. No biggie though, most people have a way to play these games on a big screen.
Great review, I’m playing mucho on my RG505 than RP3+, it’s direct competitor. One advice: Try to flash the custom Android Gamma Os, it gives a whole new level of experience and performance to RG505.
I got the rp3+ and it's amazing! Jw, What makes you prefer the rg over that? I prefer the stacked shoulders and layout (except select/start, not ideal)
I think I wouldn’t mind getting the RG505 looks pretty descent and the control pad needs to feel right for my fighting games it’s amazing how so many good handhelds there are now
You can toggle the aspect ratio of the Supaboy screen by holding the brightness button for a few seconds. I don't know why they make 16:9 the default.

My front end doesnt work. I have lots of games but non of them show up in the front end. It scans for them but they dont show up. Weird.

Yes the OLED screen from the PS Vita. Along with hall sticks and if you put GammaOS on it then it will fix the over saturation and get ride of Anbernics silly front end

I installed custom firmware on my 3DS, so i’ve been reluctant to jump into getting one of these, but dc emulation sweetens the deal a bit, but why does it look like it stretches everything to 16:9 ? Maybe a future model will have hdmi out or a dock ?
Not sure, I think the 405M (which is the same chipset) may have HDMI out
yeah supa boy screen doesn't look that good, I suppose 6 hours of play on anbernic is good enough, a 5000mah battery is really big and expected it to last longer, chick at the end sounds like fran drescher lol
