I keep coming back to this, even though it's a bit of a chonker. I bought way too many Linux handhelds but nothing really comes close. It charges reliably even with a type C charger, doesn't drain in sleep mode, Bluetooth audio works, plus I can use whatever Android app I need for a bit of extra utility. Performance is way better than anything in the $50-$80 range, totally worth the extra over those. Also I had no idea vita emulation was good now, guess I'll have to check it out.
I come back to this video because it is absolutely amazing how detailed this review is and I am glad you show the settings you play each game in. I am impressed. Instant sub from me
I picked this up about a week ago, really like this one, for multiple reasons, The screen, able to download anything from play store, it just runs really good. I love all game devices tho lol
The 505 is an under appreciated handheld. It came out in the middle of a bunch of devices and really has been overlooked in favor of the 405M. Everything on this is better I love it
I bought my RG505 2 weeks ago for just 120 euros. I love this thing! especially this brilliant OLED display! everything runs perfectly, I can even play ps2, gamecube and switch on it! with GammaOS it's just a very cool handheld! ps: where did you get these controller buttons (red and blue)
I really like the 505 and the value with recent pricing makes it a no brainer. The sticks are skull & co. I use them on a lot of different devices in different colors
When this handheld came out was in the middle of a 3 week dump of both more powerful as well as cheaper handhelds. This fit right in the middle and got left behind, that’s why I decided to revisit it. Everyone likes the 405M but the 505 is in my opinion a better handheld with the same SOC and a bigger screen.
Thanks man, after doing the unbricker and reinstalling gammaos 1.5.1 I found that the issue is gone, although I have the wifi disabled so need to test it with wifi on just in case.
Really depends on on how big of a screen you want. I would recommend something like the RG556 for the OLED screen when watching Netflix or the Retroid Pocket 4 Plus. I’m guessing you don’t want anything smaller for screen if you are going to be binge watching in it along with gaming

@@CellPhish i checked the bench marks 9825 has more power than t618. it has enough power to emulated up to psp, ps1 and more depends on how emulator optimized though.

My biggest issue with this device is just how generic it looks. Like so style or anything that really sets it apart. No disrespect to anyone who loves this device. It's just not for me. Good video tho. Sorry about the gamma situation
It’s surprisingly basic that is very true. It works well now and is only about $100 which is why I snagged one to do a video. If I ran correct when it was launched they would have come out with a metal version

I think if you were to look at new videos a lot of this has been fixed. I appreciate the time you took to provide feedback after how much you disliked what you saw. I think you will find with the addition of a second camera and me attempting to get over my life long speech impediment you might get more out of my content. If not thanks again for watching. 😀

All true but Vita emulation is getting better but it’s not great yet. It is actively being updated though

You hit the nail on the head. It's really joystick is on the left side should be at the top. That does change the way you play.

I have and I like it, could it be better? Yes with a body of RG556, but I believe the initial reviews were a bit harsh.

Great video man, quick question, are you running gamma os 1.51? My Rg505 keeps shutting down from overheating in nethersx2 on high performance mode.
I am running gamma 1.5. I haven’t had any issues with overheating yet

I’ve collected a few. I’ve been meaning to put it together but I have a back log. I should make sure the buttons work as well kinda guessed.

unisoc t618 chipset better than phones with exynos9825 for emulation?
I’ve no tested a 9825. Which is odd because I worked in that business a long time. I’ll put it on ,y list of things to checkout

The RG505 is one of the only,y Anbernics that doesn’t do that. Oddly most other brands don’t do it at all

It does cast like any Android devices but it has a delay for gaming.
