besides shoulder button issue it is 99% great...but for anyone new to rg405m...I recommend them making sure the shoulder button switches are blue not black
I'm ordering one of these as soon as they become available. I got my first retro handheld, the RG35XX, a few months ago and I'm loving it so far. But I want a nice, compact horizontal layout that can run N64, Dreamcast and a couple other platforms that I can't play on my 35XX.
"Green is the new color for 2023." I really hope so! My favorite color needs some love! It is insane how fast these retro handhelds have evolved over time! This handheld looks very sleek! The new Fantastic SN30 controllers (the non-Pro) from 8BitDo are very nice and I want both colors or at least two green ones!
I really wish they would use 3DS style circle pads instead of the joysticks, and just put dedicated L3 R3 buttons on the back. It's much more ergonomic for flat devices like this. Where you're really using more the tip of your thumbs rather than the interphalangeal joint.
I agree that Anbernic's D-Pad is King however this Controller layout makes perfect sense because most people will be playing PSP up to PS2 games on this device.
@@MrOwais21 Anbernic did this a few times last year as well, it usually meant the launch date was days away. We often don't get a lot of communication leading up to these landing in our mailboxes, and then all the info drops in a flurry. Stay tuned!
Thanks Stubbs! 2023 the year of t618 😂. It's the new rk3326... At least it's a decent enough chipset though. Hopefully, whatever the next chipset that gets used in a bunch of devices is should be good enough to get to that GC PS2 tier (more than a handful)
I have a metal rg353, and I don't like it as much as I thought I would. I wish I got a plastic version instead. No hdmi output is a deal breaker for me. Think I'll get a retroid pocket 3 plus in clear purple.
I wish they'd have released this instead of the 505. This looks a lot more polished. I'm not buying a device every time they do an incremental upgrade, though.
If you don't like it, cut the retaining strap out of your case lol then curse the gods when your device accidentally falls out when opening or closing it. =P
It gets warm starting at PS2 & GC, but never got "hot" while pushing the CPU. Not enough where its uncomfortable. I do look forward to the Pocket Flip which has active cooling, just to avoid this issue entirely.
Just get an Odin Lite instead. I have both and the 405M will now be sold because it just can't match it. Awesome console but 640x480 and only 4" lost it for me.
Part of me wanted to order the KTR1 but I was hesitant and now i missed out on the first batch shipment :( Im assuming the KT will be more powerful than this device?
Yes the KT-R1 is far more powerful than the RG405M. The KT-R1 has a Helio G99 Chipset. Which is far more powerful than the RG405M. However since the Handheld's not made by a Company the Build Quality may be Questionable. I bought the GameForce Chi and my L2 Shoulder Button broke. I NEVER received a replacement.
The KT-R1 is already better with a 7000 mah battery that is said to last up to 7 hours on ps2 and a more powerful processor as well as 8gb instead of 4gb
Do people buy metal shell devices because they like aesthetics or because of a perceived increase in durability? With no IP rating, I can't imagine durability is an actual factor. And what's up with aluminum chassis devices when magnesium chasis has been a superior choice for like 5 or 6 years? It's lighter, and costs are similar. It's 2023, I'm blown away that nobody is making carbon fiber shells or using a carbon alloy for the chassis. I do like the look of the metal, but I don't see it adding any actual value beyond appearance and hand feel. I.e. it's a gimmick.
If you never held an aluminum handheld you don't know. Much like crack, I would imagine. The feel is like stepping into a nice Toyota or a high-end Mercedes. Both will serve you, but you constantly feel the CNC cut soft cold metal. It's just...
@Archolm so, in your opinion, most people purchasing the metal shells do it for aesthetics and not durability? I agree that hand-feel is important. I'm a big fan of re-coating my console controllers in a matte top coat because I hate the feel of that finished plastic.
uuuh no.. nothing on this thing looks gorgeous . The screen looks like @ss. looks like the screen of a 20 year old, cheap phone. bad contrast, bad colors. i sent mine back even though everything else is great on this thing. how do you get the idea that it looks "rich and vibrant" i have no clue
Why buy any of these when Steam Deck exists? It doesn't make any sense to even consider these tiny underpowered jokes of handhelds. Your phone can do everything these things do with a controller attachment. Don't waste your money on these. Get a Steam Deck or a controller attachment for your phone.
You know people can own multiple devices right? And some people prefer dedicated hardware rather than their phone? I own a steam deck, but im not carrying it around in my pocket.
These steam deck apologists are getting really tiring really fast. These people are so poor they can afford only one device to do everything and bash something that is in a completely different market category. I mean, why buy a sink or a dishwasher when technically your bathtub can also clean dishes right? Playing steam deck means carrying an 800 gram device that dies after two hours that you have to charge another hour for. You can play with the rg405M for 7-10 hours on a single charge and not have cramps. Having a dedicated device means also not worrying your phone is dead, when you know, you actually have to use your phone for important stuff. If they still fail to realize why there is a booming market of cheap retro handhelds then these people really have single digit brain cell count.
I'm sorry but this isn't a review...it's just a video rambling a lot and taking a jab at a fellow youtuber. Tired of this "reviews" not having battery, input latency, audio latency, dpad tests, how are the heavy games to emulate from each system...etc. Always a superficial video and next! Forgot to add that you should call out that roms comes preloaded with these devices even if it's convenient, a call out on every review should be made.
We love our Taki ❤ (not meant in any mean spirited way). A longer format review video is on the way, this is focused on the hardware and stock experience. I did call out the roms (as I usually do). Thanks for watching, don't have to be sorry!

Right?
Me too, but then also there is an influx of generic devices and reviewers.
If the Chinese don’t make them nobody will since larger companies fear of lawsuits from the usual suspect.

Nice and fast review.
The handheld also looks ok and nice to see no widescreen but 4:3 because it is mostly for playing retro games.

Man, if only the KTR1 had that 4:3 aspect screen.
KTR1 actually has a better screen imo, that aspect ratio works well for both 4:3 and 16x9 games. 3:2 is awesome!
