Fireheart is probably my favourite Ben PC of the lot. I love him so much (and in my head canon he is the skycraft character of the ben from the "Life on the internet" episode)
I'm not 100% sure but I think she's meant to be Baradun in disguise being his evil troll self in that skit. She's wearing his clothes and has his staff.
Story of Fireheart still brings tears to my eyes. That one is right in the feels. It is funny, of course. But you know... Give Ben a hug and hot drink, can you?
Yeah, indeed. That one hits like a truck. Worst part on that is, that there indeed are people who are going through same shit. That turned from lightweight to really real.
19:38 Despite all the hilarious skits, I think this may be my favourite. I really loved this. The acting and dialogue was perfect. And it ended with humour so that you didn’t dwell on the sadness of the subject. Beautifully done.
Yeah, I relate to him, and the OCD looter. They managed to make those skits both funny and tender, they're not making fun of the person, they're showcasing an awkward situation, which is where the humour comes from, while still having good lessons for the struggling neurodivergent person and the neurotypical involved. Both grow from the situation. Also, the skull being in the random box, that's my fear that I'll miss something huge like that. Although it also reminded me that you can find Meridia's Beacon literally anywhere, and I was like "you know... I just lost all desire to loot. Funny that."
I love how Viva have managed to really take the whole "what if video game characters had real feelings" concept to a much more tender and emotional level, while still being a fun and easy watch
When Brit rejected Ben's friend request...it hurt. I've felt that. Then when she sent him a friend request, I teared up pretty hard. Powerful episode. When Fireheart said he talked him out of....it, I took it as his character Fireheart talked him out of it, meaning the game saved his life. I'm sure there are millions of gamers who can identify with that, myself included.
Folks consider it "weak" to want escapism. And sometimes I'm in that boat too. But sometimes we just need to vicariously live as a barbarian whose problems are as simple as whose skull to crush today.
@@stillcantbesilencedevennow There is nothing weak about having some escapism. The problem arises when you have difficulty letting it go. I've been there.
The Fireheart skit made me realise. Watching someone talk about things like depression and anxiety and whatnot through the third person makes it sound a lot more horrifying doesn’t it.
Just realised Ben and Britt accidentally swap usernames mid conversation with Greg during the 'Low Charisma'sketch, made me laugh way harder than it should
Watching Britt take out those goons (and being exhausted) while our garlic farmer cheers her on is pretty much on par for those single hero adventures and realizing that a warrior with a sword isn't going to cut it.....
Ben is a real gem. We all LOVE to see Alan, Adam and Rowan - I mean, of course we do, right? They ARE VLDL. We of course also love Brit and Hamish and Byron and Allie, but seriously, Ben in the more serious skits is CRAZY good. Like, goosebumps good. I hope we keep him, and the others, for a long time coming!
God DAMN as a creative writer/roleplayer, Fireheart's actual creator definitely hits RIGHT in the dead center of my heart. As someone who has been socially anxious and very close to being a misanthrope even, all I really had were games or writing which I could just immerse right into and be someone entirely different. Like a better version, someone I've always aspired to be but never had the strength or willpower to do so. Anyway, that's enough of that! All I wanted to really say is: Thank you! From the bottom of my heart that you literally debunked how most of us decent roleplayers really feel like on the inside!
