    "Staying inside my comfort zone" is the one that really got to me. Im 19 and Its so easy to stay inside a box that youve put yourself into although right now I feel like I am existing more than I am living. I know in the back of my mind that I need to push myself into situations where I feel I am uncomfortable like getting a job and learning something new to try challenge myself and grow as a person, but at the same time I just dont think I have any real belief in myself. Im pushing myself everyday though. If I stay like this, I will regret it. Thats a damn fact.

      +doobieshrum That you know this now is a good thing. I suddenly "woke up" age 35 and wondered how I got here. There are good things though. I am alone but not lonely. I didn't go to university but I taught myself everything I wanted to know. I have a home, a job. More than most. But there was so much I wanted to do and so many opportunities I did not take. Push yourself more or you are going to blink and 15 wasted years will have gone by.
      Start slowly though because that decision will affect the next few years of your life. What kind of job do you want?

      +doobieshrum Pretty much sums up my existence also.. But we have to remember we have a lot to live for, the world has endless possibilities and we just gotta get up and go out! And remember that not everything happens at once, things take time to progress, the point is... Don't stop living... (Can't believe I just wrote that, I'm writing it down and putting it on my fridge lol)

      ***** That's the thing, I know it is never too late, but I end up thinking about all the things I could do and then never actually do them. Because I am too busy thinking about doing them... xD

      I turned 20 just over a month ago and sometimes feel the same way, I often don't have the belief in myself to try and do better, just the constant thought that something will come along and shoot me down. The world isn't much of an encouraging place.
      However last year was probably one of the best years of my life, around about Spring a friend began questioning what I'm actually doing with myself and made me realise how little I've accomplished, I couldn't help but want to blame her for making me feel so much worse about myself.
      It took me about a week to realise it but what she effectively did was remove my comfort zone; before she spoke to me I was comfortable, after she spoke to me I wasn't comfortable...but I hadn't moved or changed at all - I didn't leave my comfort zone and get myself out there, I had my comfort zone taken away from me, and so the only way to find it again was to get myself out there.
      It feels weird to say this but anxiety can be a fantastic drug, you just need to figure out how to steer it. The key is to figure out how to can get rid of your comfort zone and try and make having a job/goal the new comfort zone.

      Nothing will mess you up in life like a fucked up family. Sometimes you just have to cut your ties and run away. As somebody who grew up in a toxic family, the only ones who are doing well in life are the ones who cut off
      Communication completely with my toxic family and made their own life.

      That's what my support group told me. Yet, I live in a country that they value family image so much that they disregard "emotional abuse" and if you were physically abused, it's called discipline and the child deserved it even (even when they werent at fault), raised to submit no matter what.

      +Beatrice Villaflor yeah, I can relate. One side of my family is Peruvian, where "family is everything". Yet, I've seen co dependency, enabling, mental abuse, people just plainly taken advantage and being used in the name of "family values." It's tough dealing with dysfunctional families when cultural values play a role.

Look into the ages that some of the amazing musicians, actors and other admirable people reached their goals and you'll find that they weren't as young as you might have assumed. The key is practicing, improving and never giving up. Lots of people give up waaay too soon

    I followed my dreams: I went to law school. Realized I made a huge mistake--I really didn't want or like to be a lawyer. And now I'm having a difficult time getting out of it. And this decision will haunt me for the rest of my life with the huge debt. So, following your dreams is great, but these could be the wrong dreams. For those people who regret not having applied to med school or gotten an MBA, just be thankful for what you have. You could be like me, trying to get out of a career path that simply wasn't for you...

      Hi.Just want to simply asked, how are you now? Do you remember writing this back two years ago? And I am in the same shoe as you were feeling back then. I took my ACCA, and thankfully I realized that that wasn't actually what I wanted to have to be happy because I used to think that i need to have ACCA so I can get a better career. As I merge myself in accounting for 2 years. I know that this path wasn't for me. I cancelled my class and still clueless but at least I know now that ACCA is definitely not my source of happiness. But I still have to go to work since I need money :)

    The "Not Saying I Love You" Regret still breaks my heart even after all these years of seeing this video. In fact, it inspired me to confess to my first love, and yes, I did say "I Love You" in my 12 paragraph love letter confession to her. While she may not feel the same about me and my feelings are unrequited, I'd rather live with a broken heart than a heart full of regrets, just like the person who wrote the "I Love You" Regret.

    I am 21 and the only three things I have really regretted up until now is:
    1. Staying in my comfort zone
    2. Not loving people enough
    3. Highly esteeming peoples approval/disapproval
    That is it. Life is full of mistakes and opportunities missed. What truly matters is that the sooner you realize this, the sooner you can pick yourself up and pursue a more "dangerous" life by daring to follow your passions and dreams. Right now, that is where I am at. I'm writing goals, visions, and teaching myself new skills. My only problem is the breaking away from the social anxiety that has been the source of many years of loneliness and isolation from a normal social life.
    That is something I am striving to overcome and it is the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. Working hard is honestly nothing compared to facing your personal fears in life, reaching a new milestone and becoming victorious. Fear and stagnancy are the most dangerous things to grow accustomed to, get out there, challenge yourself everyday, love and respect people, and you won't have any regret twenty years from now.

    Being overweight was my biggest regrets during my high school and college years. Since then, I lost 38lbs (going from 183 to 145 lbs). I am so proud of me and this video makes me want to continue even further and not giving up, gaining all the weight back... I am sometimes so afraid to fail, afraid of me actually... but I know I will be devastated and regret to stop my effort for a better health and live... Cheers from France!

    • @yannickm1396
      @yannickm1396 Год назад

      I have never been overweight. I do gain weight quite easily though. What helps me make it easier to eat healthy without constantly thinking about it is eathing a few big meals instead of snacking the whole day. Especially something like oats fills you up for a long time. And this way it is also easier to keep track of calories. Drinking a lot of low calorie drinks in between your meals also helps craving food less and feeling full. What also helps is staying active because this way you are less likely to eat out of boredom because your mind is occupied with something else. Last but not least is building some muscle. With more muscle you can eat more calories without gaining fat (i myself am also a musculair guy). I can see it has been a while since your post. Maybe this will help if you are still struggling, or maybe it will help someone else who reads this.

    • @Chris_t0
      @Chris_t0 8 лет назад +11

      If you guys aren't going to go to college just don't get stuck in a loop. It happens to me in my holidays, you wake up late, achieve nothing all day, stay up late, wake up late, achieve nothing all day.
      The biggest thing you can do is plan what your doing the next morning, the day before. Use this as your motivation to get up and achieve something.
      When you don't have a degree time is more valuable. You need to use your time as if you were getting a degree. You just have the choice of where you put that time instead of lecturers telling you how to spend it.

    My biggest regret is when I spent my time regretting over something that I've lost and failed. I regret the time that was wasted, that I should be pulling myself up again instead of crying over things that weren't really for me and being unable to move forward.

    My biggest regret is that I spent a big chunk of my young life in long exclusive relationships that eventually faded out and instead of committing to myself's own development like doing well at school, making friends and working on my projects, I fully committed into making "love" work. Here is an update from the future: love yourself FIRST then it will be a piece of cake to love and receive love from anybody else the RIGHT way. Commit first to yourself and then to anybody else. Life is not an unrealistic poem or romantic comedy. We might be a few billions on this planet but everybody is on their own and no matter who might be relevant at this time in your life, essentially, eventually, practically, there is no body else that cares about you like you do. Don't waste time expecting to be loved unconditionally and forever, demanding attention, seeking for a full-time caretaker. Learn to take care of your self and needs on your own. Be happy on your own. That will make you the attractive person that will receive love, attention and care.

    At 64 I am where I want to be in my life and doing exactly what I want to do. I try and remember each day how lucky I am and how few people can truly say this. My current life might not look like a huge success story to a lot of people, but it is to me! I am happy and content and thankful.

      +Yumi Grab a hold of life and hold on. Live your life the way you want(but do not hurt yourself or others in the process). Your parents will get over it and love you; you'll lose friends but gain new ones; if there is one person who stood shoulder to shoulder with you through the good times and bad, marry him(or her, whatever); save some of your money, but spend wisely; choose an occupation that'll make you wish Monday came sooner over the weekend. I'm 49 years old, and I wish someone told me this when I turned 18 years old.
      Good luck!

    The funny part is, all of the people here, judging simply by their ability to write on a chalkboard, have one other thing in common, too:
    They are still alive. They still have days. Yet they regret not following their dreams, never doing this or that.
    So do the damn thing. Apply to med school. You're 50? So what? That's 30 years left to go at least. Many of the people on this video aren't even 30. They may have 60-70 years left. An entire human lifetime just a generation or two ago.

      I spoke with a radiologist about him being too old to pursue parkour because he was 28 at the time, I told him you are never too old to follow your dreams this was quite a few years ago, so not sure if he did start to learn parkour or not.
      I was given the chance in 2016 to go to a brain injury camp in 2017, well I ummed and argg for weeks to the point where I honestly considered telling the people that I wasn't ready to go and I never really would, but part of me said you may regret not taking that leap, not going to the camp, and do you know I went to the camp, and can honestly say it was one of the best decisions I've took in my life and I'm so much happier than I was before finding out about the camp :)

    I don't allow my job/career to define me, so whether I'm a garbage man or a lawyer, It doesn't really matter to me. I made the decision a long time ago to just try and be happy, even if it means sacrificing "success" in the traditional sense. I have the potential and skills to really "be someone:" (whatever that means..) but I'd rather just live a much more stress-free life, and just do my 8 hrs and go home.

      I could never do what I love as job, because a big part of why I love doing them, is the freedom of doing them when/wherever I want.Once you at the obligation and "structure" of a job to it, it's not fun anymore, it's work.

    • @Kiwinnit
      @Kiwinnit 7 лет назад

      James Bauer find and create a business then. I'm the same, I love freedom. A structure waking up everyday is terrible. Give yourself freedom and create a business.

      Creating a business isn't for everyone, just like going to college. I don't want to run a business. Didn't you read my original post?
      Work to me is drudgery, regardless what it is I'm doing. It's a means to an end to make it in this antiquated sociol-economic model we currently live in.

    Biggest regrets at 28: Never having had a girlfriend or romantic relationship and being so lonely that it physically hurts. Squandering my time and what little money I did have on worthless things. Not drinking or experimenting with drugs more when I was younger. Being so shy that leaving the house was difficult. Not trying harder and working harder.

    Wow, this was uploaded 5 years ago but saw a clip of this from a zoom meeting I attended just a few minutes ago. And yes the responses were alarming. Sadly, I had the same regret with one of those. Biggest regret? Staying in my comfort zone. Wasted so much time convincing myself that I was in a "fixable" relationship until I finally decided it really wasn't. Had to gain courage to walk away and now in the process of acceptance and moving on.
