Frequent oil changes are most important preventive maintenance the DIY home mechanic can give the engine, because ageing oil becomes diluted, contaminated and loses efficiency, which leads to premature engine wear.
In this clip I will show you how i change engine oil and filter to my Peugeot 308 1.6 HDI 66kw. This method applies to most of the 1.6 HDI Peugeot Citroen engines.

Thank you for posting. Just done the oil and filter on my 1.6 bluehdi Picasso. Used a Pella vacuum pump through the dipstick - that extracted 3.6L. Didn’t have to remove the air filter hose, just remove the 2 front screws and lift out of the way. Whole process took about 30 mins and zero mess.

Aren't you supposed to push the filter into the engine first making sure the filter plug goes into the hole and then tightening?

To make sure i locate the oil filter plunger in the hole in the oil filter housing correctly, i insert the the oil filter in the housing first and without the oil filter cap. Once inserted, i push the oil filter cap onto the back of the oil filter and turn clockwise to screw down.

I second this, I just did it the way shown in the video and it bent the spigot and the oil light was coming on a low revs.

Few suggestions:
1. remove the dipstick while filling the oil, so the air can escape resulting less bubbling and easier filling
2. do not replace the bottom cover/drain cap before making sure there is no leakage
3. clean the bottom of oil reservoir after draining with break cleaning spray, so no dust can stick in the old oil
4. it is advisable to replace the drain plug or at least the copper ring every time you change oil
5. always fill the oil on LEVEL ground, run the engine for a few seconds (20-30) before checking the level on the dipstick

Makes me love my 2001 Toyota Yaris. An idiot with a spare few minutes and a single 14mm spanner could change the oil and filter on my car. Zero parts need removing or disturbing other than the drain plug and filter. Filter is plonked right on the front of the engine.
5:32 !!! No, no, no! Most common error out there is putting the new filter first in to plastic cap then placing all together while rotating bcs on some of those filter pin doesn't align into hole on filter seat properly and you get *NO OIL fitlering*. it's always better to put filter first and use little bit more time to put plastic cap but then you are 100% sure everything will be ok.
There is no doubt about the pin hitting the hole because if it does not, the engine will not make oil pressure. And if you do not push the oil filter up into the cup, the oil filter will remain in the oil cooler. And it would run down the gearbox the next time you need to change the oil filter

@@jepperasmussen2581 The last oil change I aligned the pin and put the filter in the housing first and then screwed the cap on and the next oil change the filter came off with the cap. It wasn't stuck in the housing. When you screw the cap onto the filter it still pierces the top and attaches it.
A good idea is to wipe clean the lub oil filter cap before inserting a new o-ring

Hello. I am very excited about both the old 308 (2008) and the new 308 (2017). The 1.6 hdi engines are very reliable but on the new generations with Adblue you need a little more attention to these anti-pollution systems.

Exact.Prima data se baga filtrul in blocul motor ptr a fi sigur ca se nimerește găurica iar apoi se vine cu capacul de plastic si se insurubeaza.

Not bad video but you didn’t mention that the locating peg on the replacement oil filter should go into the hole within the filter housing.
Did you line up the oil filter plastic fitting with the hole?? Didn't look lined up correct in the video and no mention of it either.
When threading the filter cover it will lock into that hole, so it was designed. It's the choice of everyone how he wants to install the oil filter, I think both variants are correct.
@@AdrianDragan never done it that way before as the end seams abit fragile but if it works then great.

My ford fusion has the 1.6 tdci engine (same engine I believe) and mine takes 3.85 litres of 5w30 fully synthetic. 🇬🇧

Don't install that filter because it's not good. For a maximum of $10 buy a good and suitable filter from the auto parts store.

The plastic oil filter cover (over the disposable paper element) should be tightened to 25Nm.
Hi I noticed you used Total quartz 9000 5w40 instead total INEO MC3 5w30 that is recommendable by manufacturers. Can I ask reason ? I am from UK
Hi. INEO 5w30 is recommended for cars with FAP, my car does not have a particle filter so this is why I use 5W40.

You should do a sump plug mod - pulling the recess of the plug socket out, this way you can drain the full quantity of the old oil. In the current situation you have left around 300ml of old oil in the engine in the sump, that's why even your new oil gets black immediately. In your case you have metallic shield under your engine and it's safe to fix the sump plug. Check it here: ruclips.net/video/ajFe-Jqkt8w/видео.html

Am incercat sa scot uleiul cu pompa dar nu se poate extrage tot uleiul, am reusit sa scot doar vreo 2 litri. In baia de ulei este o ransforsare (tabla) ce blocheaza furtunasul sa ajunga pana pe fundul baii. Urmeaza sa fac clipul in care am testat pompa.

I mean nice tutorial but you can do this easily even without any disassembly, just loosen the oil filter housing, pull out filter, loosen oil screw - give it back, fill oil, new filter DONE :)

Salut, probabil e o întrebare des întâlnită, dar am bagat anul trecut tot de la total și mi se pare că e cam gălăgios motorul. Anul trecut am luat mașina. Nu pot cumva sa bag ceva de la liqui moly ? 308 1.6 hdi 109cp. Noroc cu videoclipurile tale !!!
Salutare! Poti baga si de la alti producatori dar trebuie sa respecte normele specificate de Peugeot pentru motorul tau. Eu merg pe 308-ul din 2008 numai cu Total si masina are 270.000km fara probleme. Schimbul de ulei il fac la 10.000-12.000 km.

And insert the new filter element in the filter housing BEFORE the filer cap. Then you will be sure it fits correctly.

Ineo is for cars with dpf filter (fap). Unless you have car with dpf, using ineo is useless. And 5w40 is better to use in summer.

سلام عليكم ممكن استفسار عندي سيارة نوع 207 hdi 90ch تكسرلي معيار الزيت la jauge أثناء محاولي استخراجو بواسطة سلك تكسر جزء من السلك وسقط فالكارتير طول 1 ملم صغير جدا هل من ضرر على محرك السيارة
إذا انكسر الجزء المعدني وسقط في المحرك ، فقد لا يكون جيدًا جدًا. أعتقد أن أفضل شيء هو الذهاب إلى مركز خدمة لخلع حمام الزيت ومعرفة مكان تلك القطعة من القطعة.

I have put 0w20 cheap oil in this car and mys dpf blocked , any one has diesel car make sure put right oil and make sure c1 class or c2 class oil which they are good for cars with dpf
Quality oil and filters are perhaps the most important component that the user can choose for the engine to run for a long time without problems. My 308 does not have a particle filter, I think it is among the last cars to leave the factory without FAP in 2008.
what kind of oil does the 1.6 hdi use
If your car has a FAP use 5w30, if no use 5w40.
manufacturer says 5w-30, i got 1,6 tdci with out DPF and i am using 5w-40 shel helix diesel ultra for 14 years! i believe that its good
@@janklimek7666 I have been using this Total 5W40 oil for 12 years and it works perfectly even after 260.000km.
the car is on a ramp and isn't level the old oil cant be fully drained..

My car does not have FAP, so I use 5w40, it is more suitable for the climatic conditions in my country.

Salut! Folosesc 5w40 deoarece masina mea nu are filtru de particule (FAP). Pentru masinile cu filtru de particule se foloseste 5w30.
Неправильно показана установка нового фильтра. Сначала устанавливаем фильтр в корпус чтобы пробка на нижней части фильтра попала в отверстие в корпусе и только после этого устанавливаем крышку. С такой установкой чаще фильтр просто расплющивается в корпусе и НЕ фильтрует масло.
