    This is a really great, informative video about tackling a very satisfying job. Personally, what I do after the used engine oil has stopped draining from the sump, is pour a small amount of new engine oil into the engine and let that work its way to the sump. In doing so it flushes the remaining dirty oil from the sump. Your new engine oil starts off clean and stays cleaner for longer.

    Perfect! I recently just changed my oil and filter, but I wish I had found this video before, because it had all the information needed, down to the torque needed, nut and washer size and it was very straightforward.

      I looked at many videos before I done mine for the first time. None of them said to be very careful tightening the sump nut, or torque it. To my horror although I was very careful I then found out how easy it is to over tighten those sump nuts.

    Thanks reply earlier IAT built into Throttle housing. I’ve noticed oil gloop at the pcv breather hoses which being brittle cracked. Given I’ve p0105 p0113 and gloop at throttle body and into breather hoses I’m thinking my stuttering is all to do with lack of servicing ? I changed the MAP and with air filter removed awaiting new filter and hoses breather and throttle lightly cleaned I’m guessing my codes aren’t on for failed sensors but the gloop throughout the system. Maybe the oil passage ways blocked and has/had PCV problems. The gloom wasn’t excessive at the throttle or air filter but was in the breather hoses. It’s all a mess. Car is already driving better. I’m guessing the codes are in the scanner from oil in the airways??? Thanks

    Put a cable tie round the sump bolt after cracking it then spin using cable tie, no more oil on hands and sleeve and cable tie keeps sump plug from dropping in oil😂

    At 0:01 what is that sticking from the exhaust heat shield? I want to take mine out to restore,.but have to remove that first. What is it?
    It looks like a sparkplug. How do i safely take it off and put back again?

      The recommended oil in the Haynes manual is:
      Multigrade engine oil 5W30 to 10W40 to ACEA A3 or API
      SH/SJ specification: Total Quartz or Esso Ultra/Ultron

    Drain it for 30 min? Why?

    • @screwsnutsandbolts
      @screwsnutsandbolts  2 года назад

      To let as much of the old oil and gunk as possible drain from the engine.

    • @adrianvasile4683
      @adrianvasile4683 2 года назад +1

      @@screwsnutsandbolts I know, you don't want to contaminate 5 liters of fresh oil with 2 spoons of used oil. If you want to remove gunk, use engine flush. Many shops use a pump to suck the used oil and doing so maybe a half one cup remain in the engine and is no problem.
