When I removed my left joycon from the switch, it would act like it had never seen a switch console before in it's life and not even try to connect. Doing the disconnect control feature featured in this video fixed this issue which I have had for a long time. Thank you!

Thank you so much for this video! Nintendo really needs to fix this in a firmware update. There is absolutely no reason this should be happening to so many people and require a DIY fix.
Thank you so much I was literally trying to play a game and I noticed my left joy con was not working! I really thought I broke it, I searched up millions of tutorials of how to fix this problem but none of them worked, ONCE AGAIN TYSM!
Man! I’m just another stranger who’d like to thank you 🙌🏽 your second fix worked for me! I don’t know why I tried everything else first, even cleaning with isopropyl alcohol, the toothbrush, removing the controls…But yeah, leaving it overnight connected on the dock did the trick, once again, you are awesome, thank you so much!
FYI I had an issue where the left Joy Con kept disconnecting during handheld... tried different joy-cons and realized it was the left rail on the tablet itself that was not working correctly. Had to buy a replacement rail to fix it. Relatively easy fix and there are some videos online on how to do it.
Thank you for the information! I've now been able to diagnose that it is in fact my right joycon instead of the Switch itself. Much appreciation, my dude. 👍
The 3 ways to fix your joycon. Step 1: Restart your joycon and pair it 2 times and then sleep on it. Step 2: Blow compressed air on the connector and port like it's an old gameboy. Step 3: If you still have a warranty. Ok so with the first step my controller won't connect because the controller is dead. On step 2 the controller still makes that click sound when I put it back in and the 3rd step DON'T YOU THINK I WOULD HAVE ALREADY ASKED FOR A REPLACEMENT BY A WARRANTY IN THE FIRST PLACE!
Man as a dad I was trying all the tricks and nothing worked. I was going to call Nintendo service for help and your video worked? The option to power it down then plug in the joycons worked for me.
Hey dude thanks so much you literally saved me I thought I had broke it the third method completely worked but I didn’t have compressed air so I just had to very aggressively blow into the joy con and switch 😂
