    Tip: use two valve cover bolts and thread them in reverse (from botttom of engine towards the oil pan) they will serve as alignment bolts and your windage tray won’t shift and well as it helps in aligning your oil pan. The tighten all bolts and lastly remove the two valve cover bolts and install the last two oil pan bolts. Thank me later ;)

    That's a lot of RTV. I can see it dripping @17:55. If it's dripping outside, isn't dripping inside too? Isn't RTV inside the engine bad? You are the unquestioned expert but that makes me nervous. I have to do this soon so I want to get my head in the right space.

    I'm loving the videos! I started watching because I've got to pull the motor to fix a leaking oil pump, any chance you have a video on pulling the motor out of an NA?

    • @aracing
      @aracing  2 года назад +1

      Most of the time it’s the front seal. I do the camshaft seals at the same time. I wouldn’t pull the engine till I did those. If you jinx me and I lose a motor, I’ll grant your request

      @@aracing When I got the car I did a valve cover gasket, cam seals, timing belt, front main seal, CAS o-ring, coolant hoses and water pump.

      And it still leaks after all of that? In my oil pump video I talk about the crank seal cutting a groove in the crank. Yours didn’t do that right? If you still want to pull the engine shoot me an email and I’ll spell it out to you as beast I can. I’m going to tell you now to pull the engine trans as a combo, it’s way faster coming out and going in alangulo530@gmail.com

      @@aracing It had a leak before I bought it, and the leak is the same after replacing all the seals. I planned on taking them out together, and replacing the clutch, clutch master and slave cylinders and the rear main seal. It's getting close to winter here so I'll have plenty of garage time

    Thank you for the videos. Do you clean and repack hub bearings or just replace on SM's, and how often?

    I noticed you installed the pump without RTV. Is RTV necessary in this case?

    • @aracing
      @aracing  Год назад

      No please don't put RTV on a gasket. Hope this helps

      @@aracing would you be able to tell me the part number for the oil pump gasket?
      I thought the 1.8 oil pumps didn't have a gasket and just a rubber o ring?

    i oil starved my mazda speed miata that has a built forged bottom end and dual valve springs top end, stock cams, i oil starved it for about 5 seconds when i was cruising at 80mph on freeway, oil shot out of the oil cooler feed line cuz it some how came into contact with the harmonic balanced, i have solid lifters with the little shims on top but i have this knocking sounds that kinda seems to go away after 3k rpm and is only on acceleration never deceleration and doesnt make any weird sounds, it doesn't sound like rod knock, sounds like a lifter is stuck but the thing is, they arent hydraulic lifters any idea on what it could be? my clearances where all mainly in spec for valve lash too, only .001 off spec,

      First off I would get it to make the noise, then start unplugging the plug wires one at a time and see if you can make the noise go away. If you do that’s the cylinder with the problem. Oh be carful to not touch the car at all or you could get a good shock
