    Good tip a friend gave me. Put studs in the valve cover where the coils bolt. It made it so much easier to mount and remove.

    great video. i admire your work. i watched to see if i would do the same because i found an oil spot on the floor from my 1993 Miata. i would change the upper gaskets but what you have done is beyond my skill and courage. thanks again for posting such a good video. all the best and enjoy driving your Miaya

      The upper gaskets are beyond easy. Literally just unbolting and rebolting easy to reach bolts. If you feel confident turning a ratchet, then you can do it.

    One more seal would be the rear main seal, but that should be included on the clutch job video if you plan to do that as well. Flyin' Miata have specific tools to help with these seals and makes life easier.

    I have a 1990 NA and I need the front crank seal and rear main seal replaced I don’t have time to do it myself and all the local Mazda specialists want 3-$4,000 for the job 😂 so she’s been sitting for 3 years 😢

    By changing the crankseal i also ruined the oilpump. All in all a €1500 repair. Including cam seals, timingbelt and clutch (replacing the oilpump is easier with a removed engine) parts and labour.

    • @QuincyStick

      By being an diy-er. No professional knowldge about materials and procedures. And brutal force. It is called learning from mistakes (the hard and expensive way) but in the end sheer joy from a great fun car 😊

    Hello, I have a Mazda Miata MX-5 1995. We bought it about 1 year ago from a third party. It's been leaking oil and it seems it's from the front of the engine as we can see that with speed and the wind, the oil spreads towards the oil pan. Would you be so kind to help me identify the source of the leak? Any clues or advice based on your experience would be very useful. Thanks!

    • @QuincyStick
      @QuincyStick 8 месяцев назад

      If its on the front lower section, its almost certainly your front main seal.

    New clutch and oil leak repair cost me $2,800 2 weeks ago for my NB 2005 miata. I think it was very expensive but i don't know

    • @wake777
      @wake777 10 месяцев назад

      That's insanely high, unless the gasket replaced was thr oil pan or rear main seal. Then it's a little high

    • @QuincyStick
      @QuincyStick 8 месяцев назад

      @@wake777The rear main seal is a peace of cake if the transmission is already out. It's like 5 extra bolts, and you're done.

    How do you keep the camshafts in same position when you remove the camshaft gears? I guess do the camshafts need to remain in same position when you remove and reinstall the camshaft gears?
    I will be doing a timing belt change in the future so might as well replace all the seals and I do not have any experience doing this level of work.
    Great video by the way, subbed. Thanks!

      You don’t. They always move a bit. Just lever them over when installing the belt.

    I bought an old 1.8 anniversary nb.The engine looks amazing only the under tray and around the camshaft things look oily and dark. Should I be worried or could this just be the camshaft gasket? It’s not loosing any oil noticeable on my gauge.
