  • 👋 In todays installation we take a look at the brand new AWE True Dual Exhaust System! This stainless steel system provides great airflow, an incredible sound and an easy installation! First you need to remove the current exhaust system on the tacoma! There are four bolts and five hangers to remove and you may have to take some of the exhaust apart to clear the rear axle (use your best judgment on that). Once that system is removed, it's time to start on the installation of the AWE exhaust! Start at the front of the truck connecting the two pipes just behind the catylitic converter. You will reuse two of the factory bolts, and use two that the AWE kit provides! From there you will install the "H" pipe and then add the main muffler section! With this true dual exhaust system, each "side" has it's own muffler from there and you will need to line those up! This will also be where you install the added length of piping if you have the 6ft bed on your Tacoma! After that it's onto the pipes that curve over the rear axle and then connecting the exhaust tips!
    Whats awesome about this AWE system is that there are two kits available depending on how you want your system to look! You can go with the full system to include the tips with a few options to choose from, or you can go the high clearance route! You can also choose to do both! If you want the tips for the streets and removed when you hit the dirt, it's a first of it's kind!
    The installation was pretty straight forward and after driving around with this kit, I truly love the dual system and how it sounds! Very deep tone for the V6 and makes it sound proper without having drone or any raspy sounds! It is a great system for the price and provides the best of both worlds!

    How loud is this exhaust? I have a mbrp black that I cut to help reduce the drone. I am looking for a good sound but not as loud.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  Год назад

      It’s not loud at all! You can definitely hear it under acceleration but it’s a nice deep low tone. Definitely noticeable but comfortable for daily driving. Message me on IG, I’m actually selling this kit if you are interested! Selling the truck so I have it available.

    How’s it compare to that magnaflow overland exhaust you had. Which was louder which had more drone

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  4 месяца назад

      Honestly they are about the same. AWE if you take the tail pipes off is a bit louder and you hear just a subtle drone up hills. But pretty close overall

    Did you ever tow anything with this exhaust? And if so did it drone?

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  Год назад +2

      I don’t think I did, but had motorcycles in the bed. You can hear it but I wouldn’t say it has a drone, a good deep tone.

    Power gains compared to other exhaust?

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  Год назад

      Very insignificant. An exhaust won’t really add a difference and they were both cat backs so they are going to be the same.

  • @RichW240
    @RichW240 Год назад +1

    I believe that the additon of the H-pipe is what gives the exhaust system the deep tones. Do you notice any change in performance with the new exhaust system installed?

    • @mustangecoboosthpp3869
      @mustangecoboosthpp3869 9 месяцев назад

      The system on this truck is way too big, bigger is not better in exhausts, 2.5 inch is the limit for these V6 and inline 4 Tacomas. Anything bigger and you kill the exhaust velocity and cylinder scavenging.

    • @robob221
      @robob221 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@mustangecoboosthpp3869this exhaust is 2.5” in diameter, please do proper research before spreading misinformation. I messaged AWE about this recently and they sent me this with a dyno: “Because we start after the downpipe, low end torque is maintained and increases a little as RPMs climb. The backpressure is relieved but not so much that is causes losses. Horsepower is gained from about 2k up to redline.”

    AWE is a first class out fit. I don't live very far away, and have visited their plant. While I have never bought any of their products, I've have friends who have used their impressive VW/Audi mods; all high quality pieces. The Tacoma exhaust is clearly well made. However, I'm not a Toyota fan, and would not have spent the scratch on a pickup of such modest capability. Your Tacoma is certainly nice and well cared for. But, it couldn't pull the skin off day old pudding. I just prefer the capacities of American steel.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  Год назад

      Thanks for your comment and sharing about the plant! I’m sure that’s neat to see!
      Different trucks for different people! It’s not really meant for towing so you can’t compare it to larger trucks that can. It can Offroad better than those trucks so different needs and wants!

      @@BrosFOURRSpeed Right you are. The closest I get to offroading is boondocking with my 5thW. Perhaps, your Tacoma could pull a Black Series travel trailer which are designed by Australians for hard-core boondocking in the Outback. The final assembly takes place in California, so they're becoming more prevalent. It sure beats a tent when one is headed back into the bush. Your vlog was an education.

    This system destroyed the exhaust velocity and the cylinder scavenging because there is just to much pipe to keep exhaust velocity high. As far putting on larger spare tire you will end up dry rotting the side wall by the tread ruining the tire. The heat from the exhaust pipes will be too much for the tire over time.

    This exhaust is a scam. 2k rpm there is immense drone when pulling, going up grade or just accelerating like a normal person. I wanted to love this exhaust but unless you drive like a complete idiot or an absolute grandpa this exhaust is extremely disappointing. I don’t quite understand how these videos on RUclips that show off this system don’t comment on its fake drone technology. You don’t drive a Tacoma like a sports car, this system is designed around doing so. If you read online random reviews like Reddit which are weirdly far and few between, you will find similar opinions.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  5 месяцев назад

      I had zero of those opinions on this exhaust. Absolutely the best system I have had when comparing to the other 5 others I’ve had on this truck.

      @@BrosFOURRSpeed I have an access cab so the resonance is different, non the less I hear my sentiment from other double cab owners, even the prior owner who sold this to me second hand said his kids could not hear him up front and complained about drone. I also have an OTT tune so it holds gears longer before shifting due to an increase in torque. There is no data showing sub 2k rpm power numbers for this system. I notice more transmission dancing sub 2k vs stock when accelerating normally. It wants to hang out at 2k under any sort of load for a while until enough power is built to press on. Everything past 2k rpm is great, but daily driving is ruined for me and any passenger thinks my muffler is broken. Non the less the drone canceling MAY be very specific to a double cab with stock tuning. Which is not stated anywhere and conveniently they hide sub 2k performance. For $1,200 I expect more, so should anyone else.

      @@robob221 Again, zero issues. Never once had a passenger say it was too loud or they could even hear it! Maybe if you bought a truck with an exhaust, they did something else to it. This was so daily driver friendly, I had no concerns and could hear just fine. Zero drone for me or passengers.
