What'd you think of these workflows? And don't forget the parts towards the end for easy / fake cloth simulations and other little tips + tricks! :) EDIT: Also, I'm getting ready to release a second channel with behind the scenes of this video! A bunch of extra content to come for that; I'd love to know your thoughts!
Nice video, thanks for sharing your process. Using nVidia Canvas to sketch out a concept is a strong start for speed, and for keeping the process intuitive for just about anyone. However, the next series of steps in Maya couldn’t be more jarring. A lot of clunky UI and technical hurdles that amount to a 2.5D scene. I recommend replacing this section with sculpting the scene in VR. Apps like Medium, Tvori and Masterpiece keep the 3D creation process expressive and artistic, and you end up with true 3D geometry, not 2.5D arrangements of planes. It’s quicker too. Something worth considering. Keep up the great videos, I always look forward to your workflows and insights.
Thanks for the video. You’d probably love the Zmodeller brush in ZBrush. This is the1st I’ve heard of Nvidia Canvas. My middle name is Wade but without the honorific attachment.
Great! As the DM in a tabletop roleplay game (like Dungeons and Dragons), I want to be able to make some cool pictures for my players without them taking ages. This looks like a very promising method!
I adore your content Wade! I would love more tips and tricks related to modelling from an Animators perspective! Always takes me soooo much time to setup my scene, which slows down my workflow and really takes away from time that I could be animating.
can u please elaborate on the camera picture projection in a short video pls.... i have seen it done in blender but thr is no utube video on projection through camera fro maya to create scenes tht r complex
GREAT video, bro! Using 3d tools like you’re scribbling in a notebook. An incubator for IDEATION…one of the most useful and raw bunch of ideas I’ve ever seen in a tutorial. I’m a paper & pencil guy, but I’ll definitely be screwing around with this. 🙏🍷🎩🎩🎩
This type of workflow, especially using images as basically models with the cut /knife tool can be abused beyond that, especially for movies /short films, it reminds me a lot of the style that Ian hubbert uses. I tried that once and it's crazy fast to get a concept, depending on what the image is for it can also work as final product, I made a scary looking hallway once with pictures and the knife tool, perfect? No but good enough for a short animation of a door opening or something. Again the speed of this is amazing, as for the topology, you need to know the rules before breaking them, no problem is horrible topology as long as you what you're doing, a rock can have any topo, it's just a rock you know?
You said you're trying to finish as soon as possible to sell your ideas, is that a thing is there a place where I can, if I come up with an idea, post it for sale😀
thank you I always fallow you but I want a tutorial for animation combine withe dynamic to make a real scene .for me I have a crocodile kille a fish and I want to make real animation .plz
I'm hyped to give Nvedia Canvas a shot. Had it installed since ya last talked bout it coming out on stream long ago. I just need to upgrade my hard drive for it to work which I am doing soon. Since I'm almost out of space. lol btw miss hanging out on the streams but its good to take breaks. :)
Sir g Reply plz I'm waiting #1.Can Animbot create rig controls Like Blender rigify And #2. Animbot create character skeleton with aromatic weight Like Blender human meta #If not I first create manually bone skeleton Rig controls driver
That goes against me in all the ways lol. I mean I get it but yeah. For me most of my concept art is in my head 99 percent of everything I make is sitting right here in my skull before being made. Now I think about it I honestly have no real process. I speak of large cube, medium cube, small cube, and micro cube but I rarely follow it. I just do things lol. I think my order is small, Large, Medium then Micro half the time Make the highly detail props and get them out of the way first etc. I work with most detail to least. Hmm... I learned something about myself.
I work with the frequency mind, there is a blender talk about it by Gleb, low frequency, big shapes big things big changes, then medium and high frequency, that's how I cut my job, however this type of workflow here is used to either confirm an idea to your self or to show to someone else like a client
I wonder if I know this previz artist (coworker of mine who went to work on the how to train your dragon tv show for a while) ... name starts with a J?
Yeah games do work with Maya it's industry standard and I absolutely hate it, I use blender wich is probably what you use too, blender is more then capable of doing this you see on video
Speed? Ian Hubert would approve.

New subscriber and 3D animator here, loving the vids!
They’re really helping me get to know the craft better!
Thanks so much :D
It’s great!

The whacking bit is interesting. I always struggle with that kind of non-regimented stuff. Thanks, mate! Useful!
2:06 that is literally the one thing that is holding me back from doing 3d art and art in general. I never know what to make and where to start.
This is appreciated, bro.
Also, please take care of your health and stay up with your fitness. That is FAR more important than work. 💯
i like it, it's ian hubert but more abstract, well ian is pretty abstract in the first place but yea
I adore your content Wade! I would love more tips and tricks related to modelling from an Animators perspective! Always takes me soooo much time to setup my scene, which slows down my workflow and really takes away from time that I could be animating.
Woah! Nvidia studio looks awesome! Thanks for sharing :-)

You would Love Ian Huberts workflow, you could also do this in Grease pencil etc in blender but i digress lol
