Standing together for the right to live and die with dignity
If I were on a desert island and I could only take 5 songs, this would be one of them. How I loved it then and how I love it now!
Id join you 😊
Jimmy Sommerville, whether in Bronski Beat, the Communards or solo has such a talent in tying strong and meaningful lyrics with important messages with music so joyous, energised and uplifting that you can't help responding to it
Un mec comme lui il y en a qu'un ❤
"So we'll shout (Shout!)
As loud as we can
And we'll shout (Shout!)
'till they hear our demands...." We are in a social crisis in Chile, so this liryc is perfect for it!! and Sinead O´connor 2:18, This is Great!!!
LEGEND!!!
I was just a kid when this track was released and I'm not gay. But the Jimmy Somerville/Bronski Beat/Communards stuff is really great!
Thank goodness I watched totp 1990 on BBC 4.
Same here!!
He's fantastic dancing
Great singer !!!
Great dancer !!!
❤
This magnificent song takes me back to the nineties, a time in which another pandemic devastated not the older but the young people, how many friends lost their lives in their twenties or thirties and with the impassiveness when not the contempt of the majority of the Society
Thanks Jimmy
Jimmy Somerville forever!
Ein unsterblicher Klassiker!
Fantastic song Jimmy, very meaningful and what a tune, I love it! And I could watch you dance all day, I hope you still sing this 1 live because I’m definitely going to try my best to see you again 😀
Jimmy best dancer ever, know the song meant much more
I have forgotten how bloody brilliant red hot this song still is! #bestbritishtenor.
Sweet life when i was a kid

Great song by a great singer
Absolutly geniues. His Voice is anbelievieble. Sorry for my Bad english. Greetings from Germany 😊😊😊
I remember when this song was released in 1990; I was in my local Woolworth's (aged 7) and this was blasting out over the speakers. I always remembered it. Then I discovered it again - 8 years later - when I bought a second-hand VHS copy of NOW 17 from a local record/music shop and re-discovered such great tracks/videos as this one, and a lot of other gems from the beginning of the 90's that I remembered from my childhood.
I bought my copy in Woolies!! x
The power within we can use it to win !!!
One of three UK Top 30 hits from his debut album"Read My Lips", the title track reached No 26 in Uk but was one of four AM Top 10 hits and the first of two No 1's for Jimmy Somerville.
Fab song. Still uplifting today as it was then.
Jimmy can sing
Great feel good song.
What a voice x
Absolutely !
gorgeously uplifting song x
For some reason this song popped into my head whilst I was daydreaming at work today, so glad it did, I'd forgotten how many great songs Jimmy has written!
Saw him singing this at Trafalgar Square at Gay Pride
Absolutely brilliant
Fantastic singer simple as that 👍🇬🇧
Magnifique 🌟💎💖😇
2:19 Sinead O’Connor wearing ACT UP t-shirt ❤
I love you❤
AWESOME
Wanna go back. Today is all scary and just crap.
Desert rose.
Saw him live, he was brilliant.
SAME HERE
Okay DesertRose, fuel up the mini bus and let’s get going. I suspect there will be a hell of a lot of us wanting to go back.Today is scary and more so every year. But never mind, we have Jimmy to keep us cheerful.
So relevant now with covid, every single word
One of my favorites love it
Its GOLD ! ( one Off) :) :) :) Its a Power !!!
Me encanta este tema...
2:18 es Sinead'o Oconor

Great. Song.
Still a love his music
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
😑😑 🎧🎧🎧 oups!!!! Jimmy sommerville
Sinead O´Connor!!!!
His dancing would have made him the star on any gay dance floor in his time. Maybe it did. I never saw him in person. The videos don't do him justice. All closeups, very few long shots showing how good a dancer he was.
Love it 😅 0:33
Ace song
excellent ...comme toujours !
BUENOS TEMAS PARA BAILAR ,SOLO MUSICA DE LOS 80 Y 90...
Fred Smith,he certainly is !

1990 LGBT Anthem....🏳️🌈 Jimmy was always a frontrunner. We miss artists like this....
Is that Sinéad O Connor at 4.02? I'm pretty sure it is 💕
I thought the same.
Me too, I’m sure it’s her
Yes! She is also at 2:19 wearing an ACT UP t-shirt ❤
A Jimmy somerville / Pet Shop Boys collaboration please 🙏🏻 ♥️
Unlikely to happen as PSBs where focused on pop and JS on message. This means that a collab is unlikely to happen between the two.
My song against Corona
Now 17 :)
Dancing and mey living room 🤓
this song has just the same meaning today as it did back then thanks you jimmy
Does it, though?
In honor of Larry Kramer...RIP
This is the perfect song for NOW 2020
No, it isn't. Stop misappropriating history! If you have a message to convey, articulate it yourself!!
M I love you
NICE What they were starting in Thacher's England we were already doing in America, run by Reagan. First time and last ever thrown several Molotov Cocktails. Miss those days of protest
Wait, did i just see Sinead O’Connor in that vid at 2:20?
U kudnt possibly now that , #Jimmy u kudnt , when Enough is Enough
kuz i quite frankly dont even now that 1 either when Enough is Enough
so haw u now that 1 then , when enough iz Enough
Whatever sweetie, whatever.
PS: It is "couldn't" by the way,
Когда была аудиокассета и мы "колбасились" под эту весёлую песянку.До 1990-го года я думал,что это дамочка поёт.
This is for all the politicians, whatever party
It's hard at the moment to read anybodys lips due to wearing facemasks :)
lol
Figuratively!!
I remember seeing this performed on 'You Gotta Be jokin'' (long-forgotten BBC Saturday night amateur comedy show from 1991) and my mother - neurotic religious anti-pop music prude - said "Yes, enough certainly is enough !" Looking back, I can't blame her considering the song !
LOL you're right... this song is shite.
@@DeepScreenAnalysis lol, yup, so is the 'dancing'
Sinead O'Connor😁
Anyone know who is the woman in sunglasses at 1:26 ?

My friend years ago met him in Amsterdam and asked my friend where the gay cruising areas were 😂😂😂
That's male bovine faecal matter there is no need to ask as they are rather open about it. I mean I was surprised as a Brit passing the play cellar to get to the loo in a couple of places. Without even going on about the saunas. Such things were very furtive here to avoid a police raid, I mean one club changes it's lay out with stud walls every month to avoid a raid. .
The worst thing is now we are entering complacency with PrEP. This means those on it think they can go bareback without consequence which is not true. Even before PrEP became a thing it seems the younger generations thought HIV could be cured so they became complacent. AS someone who lived through the original outbreak, though I was a kid at the time and lost an "uncle" I find it abhorrent.
A condom is the one thing, if used properly, that protects you 100%, There are "super" variants of STIs spreading now and that will mean at some point antibiotics will do nothing to treat them and so we will see people dying of those instead. I mean come on super gonorrhoea has been in the news where I live, now I would hate to see the world go to the point that the treatable STDs stop being treatable.
As my mum used to say when I was a teenager, "If your little fella ain't wearing a wetsuit then he ain't going diving", and I repeat PrEP is NOT 100% effective. Please prioritise and protect your own health, a lay no matter how hot is not worth your life.

here's the song that inspired leggings but embarrassed more men than women CLap clap clap
Anybody here from NWR SafeWords 17?
Les victimes de la mode des annees 80, 90 mdr
❤
This is an old memory... I am not sure that some today know how much we added to the gay movement... I was part of Act-Up and very political in High School and college... Sadly, many hard days are still to come.
Joseph A. Hancharik ; this song still feels relevant today, I think even more so. We should play this song loudly in the November elections!
I used to dance around my bedsit room, before going on night out in Edinburgh, it is such a powerful song. Love it!
What a powerful song and a great video. Feels relevant today.
I was also part of ACT-UP back when this song and video was released. A great song and just what we needed back then.
@@craigrobertson1235 Me too, way back in the 80s in Leeds. 😀✊
❤
Maybe the best one from Jimmy! A great track! very PSB...
Swear, you took the words out of my mouth about being so PSB-esque. :)
Just discovered this track from listening to Now 17. Wow! More energy than a Duracell battery! Fantastic :)
brilliant comment!
hahaha I love your comment :))
The backing singers and the way he just starts belting out 'the power' are impressive. If you don't like this, you're dead.
As relevant now as it was back then. Superb track!
Jimmy ticks all the boxes
His awesome
Miles better than erasure
