For starters, I see the BLONDIE Christmas special, if one is ever to be produced, having taken place just about a year after both Alexander and Cookie have gotten families of their own started up. Alexander has a house that’s practically a carbon copy of the Lincoln residence in Springfield, Illinois. Cookie has obviously married a farmer of all people, and while Cookie has given them a grandson, Alexander is the father of twins (one of each gender), and the farm is five miles north of Alexander’s house. Ofcourse, why even bother with flying when Dagwood might as well raise a panic on the train instead? By the way, Cookie’s mother-in-law has taught her how to prepare the old European dish of roasted boar’s 🐗 head while Alexander’s wife is lucky enough to just follow the recipe for roast goose. Afterall, let Thanksgiving keep the turkey 🦃.
For starters, the goose has always been the TRADITIONAL poultry dish for Christmas 🎄 dinner alongside the main course of a roasted boar’s 🐗 head before Columbus discovered America.

On second thought, with the new branch office of the company opening in Arlen, Texas, as well as the housing tract of the gated community of Siesta Villa, I think that maybe it’s just about time that I promoted you to be in charge of the new branch office, Bumstead!
This cartoon came on at night when I was a kid I remember the theme. I also loved the comic strip. I am so glad that I grew up when I did serious memories❤
Figured this would be fun but it turned out to be amazingly good. The artwork is perfect, every character (especially Daisy) just as Chic Young drew them. Love the dialogue too. Fun fact: Blondie's maiden name is Boopadoop. When they met in 1930 Dagwood was a rich playboy and Blondie was a flapper. I think his dad cut him off when he married a common girl, but that's all before my time and I'm not sure.
@dontaylor7315, Let’s just say that Dagwood’s dad owned a few oil wells in the Texas town of Arlen where propane salesman Hank Hill lives? Now, one day Mr. Dithers decided to do a favor for his good friend Hiram Phineaus Lodge of Riverdale by building a gated community in Arlen, Texas, known as Siesta Villa? The first thing Dithers does is to contact his nephew (on Cora’s side of the family) Chris Sizemore of Sizemore Realty of Arlen, Texas, to get land for a new branch office of the construction company as well as building Siesta Villa? Pondering on just which employee he thinks needs to get out of his sight, Dithers appoints Dagwood to take charge of the branch office, which means moving from New Rochelle to Arlen, Texas? Blondie’s excited about Dagwood being put in charge of a new branch office, but upon learning that the new branch office will be in Arlen, Texas, begins to revive memories for Blondie from when she worked the lobby of Hotel Arlen, but not as a maid, but rather as a lady of shady and questionable intentions?
@@LindaCooper-i3f I like it but I can't make it fit. Dagwood in those days probably never heard of Mr Dithers because he didn't need to work for anybody; he was strictly a silver-spoon playboy. I don't think he had to make his own money till his marriage to Blondie estranged his wealthy parents. I gather you're a fellow Texan. I further take it there's a scandal in Arlen's history that I'm not familiar with, apparently a really juicy one involving oil tycoons. Sounds like classic Texas skullduggery and I'm gonna study up on that!
Actually, I’m a Kentuckian with a good knowledge of Texas under the circumstances. However, keep in mind that Chris Sizemore of Sizemore Realty of Arlen is Dithers’ nephew on Cora’s side of the family. Plus, Hiram Lodge from Riverdale is the one behind the building of the gated community to be christened Siesta Villa, which Dithers is building in Arlen will probably be housing for some of the oilfield workers employed by Minnesota businessman Gomez Addams as well as for the refinery that Hiram Lodge plans to put in Arlen. Also, Dithers is possibly planning on a branch office in Arlen, which eventually Dagwood ends up being in charge of (until the day he gets his gold watch) which then has him and Blondie settling into the house at 515 South Rainey Street at the corner of Sepulveda and Rainey; other houses on that corner include 516, 517, and 518. Ofcourse, it would probably be most likely that when Dagwood is put in charge of the Branch office in Arlen, that Alexander runs a garage in the northwestern Baltimore suburb of Lawndale, Maryland, repairing everything from regular automobiles to diesel powered semi trucks while Cookie is running her own veterinarian clinic on her in-laws dairy farm in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, just west northwest of Duluth; Grand Rapids that’s west northwest of Duluth is also the hometown of Gomez Addams.
10:49 - 11:30 Microwave: Bumstead residence. Dithers: Bumstead! Dagwood: Mr. Dithers! (runs to the microwave/telephone) Hello? (while hysterically pressing the buttons) Hello? Alexander! Dithers: Bumstead, I've been thinking. What would you say if I offered your job back? Dagwood: Why, Mr. Dithers, I'd say... Microwave: You're half-baked. Dithers: I'm WHAT?! HALF-BAKED?! Dagwood: No, Mr. Dithers! What I meant to say is that you're... Microwave: Overdone ham. Dithers: I'm a half-baked overdone ham, am I?! (while his face turning red in angry) Well, Bumstead, you're not only fired, YOU'RE DOUBLE FIRED!!!!!! (slams the phone which makes the microwave door to open and close) Dagwood: Alexander! Alexander: Yeah, Dad!
@Shamazya, How would you possibly describe how Dagwood feels when Mr. Dithers announces that he’s opening up a branch office of the construction company in the Texas town of Arlen where propane salesman Hank Hill lives?
It would be nice if Dithers opened up a new branch office in the Texas town of Arlen where propane salesman Hank Hill lives, and with Dagwood Bumstead being in charge of the new branch office as well as becoming a new across the street neighbor to Texas propane salesman Hank Hill, the laughs would be unstoppable like a flash flood.
Originally telecast on CBS on May 15, 1987. As for Blondie becoming a working woman, Dean Young (who writes the newspaper strip) eventually decided she should be more than a housewife......and in September 1991, she opened her own catering business {with Tootsie Woodley as her partner}. She's still in business, with Dagwood occaionally helping out.
CBS also had the short-lived 1968 sitcom version, which had a redheaded Patricia Harty got cast as Blondie opposite Will Hutchins as Dagwood and the late Jim Backus as Mr. Dithers.
Blondie used to feature in many South Asian newspapers and magazines back in 90’s, a familiar face I know from childhood although I couldn’t understand strong English

Dagwood: “In all my years of living, I thought that I’d never return to Texas whether to build a housing project or anything until Dither’s nephew talked him into opening up a branch office down here with me in charge as the branch manager.” Hank Hill: “Look on the bright side, you got me for a neighbor, Dagwood.”
Until the 1997 FCC mandate demanding all broadcasters to at least air three hours minimum of educational programs. Now that was just too unfair, let alone it was an abuse of the agency’s powers.
I REALLY dislike Dagwood. Like, a LOT. I know that this is supposed to be a sort of parady comedy and all, but it bugged me how he wasn't at home when the repair men came over. That one scene around 6:28 where the repairman started getting fresh with Blondie (and then his cronies even SURROUNDED her in a predatory manner at 6:32) was straight up ALARMING. She even has to start PUSHING THEM AWAY after they invaded her personal space! 🤦🏿 Whenever we have to get work done on _our_ house (If my husband can't fix it himself) he will take time off of work to make sure that he's home when the repairman show up, so that I'm not home alone with strange men. (I work from home). I thought that ALL men did this for their wives in order to protect them, but Dagwood is just too clueless and too selfish to even notice his wife getting harassed. ☹️

@@LindaCooper-i3f Does Cookie's veterinary practice include patients as far afield as Lake Wobegon?
How about the cat of the Jack Lemmon character from the ‘GRUMPY OLD MEN’ as well as the dog of the Walter Matthau character from those movies?
10:49 - 11:30
Microwave: Bumstead residence.
Dithers: Bumstead!
Dagwood: Mr. Dithers! (runs to the microwave/telephone) Hello? (while hysterically pressing the buttons) Hello? Alexander!
Dithers: Bumstead, I've been thinking. What would you say if I offered your job back?
Dagwood: Why, Mr. Dithers, I'd say...
Microwave: You're half-baked.
Dithers: I'm WHAT?! HALF-BAKED?!
Dagwood: No, Mr. Dithers! What I meant to say is that you're...
Microwave: Overdone ham.
Dithers: I'm a half-baked overdone ham, am I?! (while his face turning red in angry) Well, Bumstead, you're not only fired, YOU'RE DOUBLE FIRED!!!!!! (slams the phone which makes the microwave door to open and close)
Dagwood: Alexander!
Alexander: Yeah, Dad!
Heavens to hemlock!
The first one i read in the paper had blondie straightening out the toaster cord so the electricity would not get wrinkled .
Possibly.
I never knew this had an animated special
As far as I know there’s a second special in which they renew their marriage vows.
Honestly care more about Blondie's story than Dagwood.
@Shamazya,
How would you possibly describe how Dagwood feels when Mr. Dithers announces that he’s opening up a branch office of the construction company in the Texas town of Arlen where propane salesman Hank Hill lives?
Blondie is so gorgeous and so cute
Try imagining the possibility of Blondie making friends with Peggy Hill from the animated series “KING OF THE HILL”?
I never thought dagwoods voice would sound like that
It happens.
Aww the doggie is my favourite character ❤❤❤
Try imagining how Daisy the dog of Blondie and Dagwood is going to try to make friends with Hank Hill’s Bloodhound Lady Bird?
@@LindaCooper-i3f oh yeah bless her
I didn’t know there was a Blondie cartoon?!
Unusual, isn’t it?
Too bad it.was.only 2 episode specials😢😢😢 it would be a great animated series
It would be nice if Dithers opened up a new branch office in the Texas town of Arlen where propane salesman Hank Hill lives, and with Dagwood Bumstead being in charge of the new branch office as well as becoming a new across the street neighbor to Texas propane salesman Hank Hill, the laughs would be unstoppable like a flash flood.
Believe it or not Dagwood and Blondie was also an old time radio shows its actually pretty funny
I’ll just have to scare up some recordings one of these days.
Dithers.
Spits out Mountain Dew, "Daisy was *_Krang!?!"_* (Pat Fraley)
Holy Toledo.
This is even getting rarer in the Sunday papers.
15:26 angry sergeant Cora 😂 22:10. 22:21
I wish they could have made a full series back then that would have been great 📺
Well, be that as it may, perhaps maybe it’s just about time that Dagwood and Blondie became neighbors to Hank and Peggy Hill.
When need the Hagar Televison Special Pls
Now it is.
This is really cool! I wish that there were more episodes.
Obviously it looks like a lack of advertising sponsorship together with a lack of interest from the network executives was all mixed together.
Blondie used to feature in many South Asian newspapers and magazines back in 90’s, a familiar face I know from childhood although I couldn’t understand strong English
It happens.
I use to watch the 40's movie as a kid in the early 80's. I also liked the comic strip. It was created in tne 20's or 30's.
More or less, thereabouts.
the live action movies were great!!
Glenn Ford was in the movie “BLONDIE PLAYS CUPID”.
EN MEXICO LO CONOCEMOS COMO LORENZO Y PEPITA.
Si.
I Want to See All-Stars Cartoon Special with the Popeye, Phantom, Mandrake, etc.
Good grief.
The french fries are still stuck in the kitchen walls
Tell it to Felix Unger from “THE ODD COUPLE”.
Wasn't this one of the strips in the Daily Sketch in the UK in the 1950s?
Aww blondie is so cute
And somewhat klutzy herself.
I always knew about this comic strip in the newspapers but never knew there was a cartoon of it too.
Lack of the good life obviously.
Dagwood made a few cameos in Garfield Gets Real but he doesn't have any lines despite his stuttering sounds
Mel Tillis, where are you when we need you?
It's my favorite comic strip. 😊
Likewise.
It took me 5 minutes to figure out that Dagwood was Frank Welker
Now that’s the spirit of nailing it.
I remember the classic tv show Blondie.
In b&w or the one in color with the late actor Jim Backus as Mr. Dithers?
@@LindaCooper-i3f The B&W tv show
I used to watch this all the time it was like crack to me oh my god
Goodnight nurse.
Computers, microwaves? Not in the one original Dagwood comic I read on the front floor.
Good point well taken.
Anyone remember the Blondie movies with Penny Singleton and Arthur Lake? How about the Blondie TV shows from 1957 and 1968?The ones from 1957 had Lake as Dagwood. There was also a Blondie radio show with Arthur Lake and Penny Singleton.
Amazing!
in the thumbnail it looks like dagwood is in a prison jumpsuit. you better make a shank out of your toothbrush bruv, i think bluto is eyeballing you
Heavens to hemlock!
The house has a similar layout, except the dining room isn't accessible to the entrance, and Blondie and Dagwood pushed the beds together
Actually, they have traded in the twin beds for one big king size bed.
You noticed that detail as well obviously?
this cartoon was released in 1987. long after the Columbia Blondie movies from the 30s & 40s.
Definitely.
Loni Anderson as Blondie....😍
Just need to make her a 1ST Cousin to Jennifer Marlowe Travis, wife of Andy Travis, employed by the Cincinnati radio station WKRP.
I remember that theme song 🤣
Amazing.
Very good job dudes and well done!! Congratulations 993.73% yo throughout the 2nd sizzling week of said joyous June y'all and watch out for signs of heat warnings. Superb work by 71 bonus points.🏅🥇🏅👨🎨👩🎤⛈⛈⛈⛈⛈🤣🤣🇺🇸
Dagwood: “In all my years of living, I thought that I’d never return to Texas whether to build a housing project or anything until Dither’s nephew talked him into opening up a branch office down here with me in charge as the branch manager.”
Hank Hill: “Look on the bright side, you got me for a neighbor, Dagwood.”
Aired in 1987.
Moving yo Yugoslavia?! ;...; oh if only
Something might get worked out.
That,s when kids were kids on Saturday morning.
Until the 1997 FCC mandate demanding all broadcasters to at least air three hours minimum of educational programs.
Now that was just too unfair, let alone it was an abuse of the agency’s powers.
This stereo panning track division, though…!
Difficult, isn’t it?
I REALLY dislike Dagwood. Like, a LOT. I know that this is supposed to be a sort of parady comedy and all, but it bugged me how he wasn't at home when the repair men came over. That one scene around 6:28 where the repairman started getting fresh with Blondie (and then his cronies even SURROUNDED her in a predatory manner at 6:32) was straight up ALARMING. She even has to start PUSHING THEM AWAY after they invaded her personal space! 🤦🏿
Whenever we have to get work done on _our_ house (If my husband can't fix it himself) he will take time off of work to make sure that he's home when the repairman show up, so that I'm not home alone with strange men. (I work from home). I thought that ALL men did this for their wives in order to protect them, but Dagwood is just too clueless and too selfish to even notice his wife getting harassed. ☹️
😂😂😂😂
How would you possibly like it if Dagwood becomes an across the street neighbor to Texas propane salesman Hank Hill?!
Heavens to hemlock.
Blondie always had more common sense than her husband 🤔
That’s putting down Dagwood in the same way other people put down Archie Bunker; because praising Blondie is the SAME as if one praises Edith Bunker.
Heathcliff reference at 1:05. 😁
I think that I overlooked that detail.
In the comic strip, Dagwood's boss was Mr. Dibbles, not Mr. Dithers.
Maybe Dithers took the company over from Dibbles?
It was always Mr. Dithers that i remember from 1968 at least . Herm the neighbor . Daisy the mother dog .
The neighbor’s name was spelled H-E-R-B.
