I started out with a clean test hood and applied this fluorine resin based polymer wax to half of it. It was easy to apply, though I accidentally put too much wax on half of the test area. It made it a little difficult to remove where I over applied. The areas where an appropriate amount of wax were used had no issues in removal.
Once cured the wax was tested for slickness. It was very slick, I could see comparing it with the Wolfgang and Jescar products. The visual quality of the product was also pretty good. Its depth reminded me of Wolfgang, but it wasn't quite as vibrant. Overall there wasn't as much pop as I wanted from the paint, but it looked good.
Measuring the gloss levels of a test panel after an application of the Fusso wax was my next test. I used a gloss meter to read gloss levels from a panel that normally reads 90GU with nothing on it. Unfortunately the Soft99 wax knocked the gloss levels down by 5.9 points on average to 84.1GU. This is why the paint is not popping!
The only thing that would keep me from selecting Fusso over a ceramic coating or ceramic wax over is the gloss. Unfortunately this wax just isn't that shiny, but it does look very deep. Ceramics will make the paint pop more, but the installation difficulty of a coating is usually beyond what most home waxing diy-ers will entertain. If you don't want to invest in the time to coat, this Fusso from Soft99 seems like the most durable wax on the market, at least in my tests! I'm looking forward to testing their new formula which I've already ordered.

Hey Dmitry, I was wondering if you might know the answer to this question. After watching a few different videos of the soft 99 product, everyone seems to say you should apply it as thin as possible. I’m wondering if they are saying that because it’s easier to take off that way OR because it will actually perform better? I want the results you got so if that means I apply a little bit more product and it’s a little tougher to buff off, I’m ok with that. Also, with the new formula do you know if it’s ok to apply to a front clear bra material, or will it stain that? Thank you in advance
@@willfuller7177 It needs to be applied very thin because a little goes a long way. It makes the product hard to remove if you use too much. It shouldn't affect performance in terms of durability, looks, etc.. if you use a little too much. I haven't tested the new formula yet. However as a general rule if it's not clear coat car paint I would test a section that is inconspicuous if possible. I generally trust spray waxes including ceramics over pastes and liquid waxes when it comes to plastic and wrap. Pastes are more likely to stain or have abrasives in them for added polishing. You can definitely wax a wrap/clear bra, but I'd test it.

Those unfamiliar with Fusso, it's best applied with a quality, lightly damp foam applicator. Air temperature should be above 15C. Do 3 panels at a time. When you finish the 3rd, you can buff off the 1st already. Maximum waiting time should be 5 minutes (@15C and up). The amount per panel is achieved by touching the wax with the foam applicator with light pressure and giving it a half turn. Cross-hatch application ensures uniform coverage. Sonax BSD is widely known for being a great topper/sacrificial layer that can be applied once every month. This will keep Fusso protection going for 12 months+.

@@KisKano5 it depends on how you want to use it, how often you wash the car and how long you want Fusso to last. Bear in mind that you don't need to worry about topping up Fusso in less than 3-6 months if the car has been prepped well. You can introduce BSD after 1 month if you want to use it neat and apply it once a month. If you are planning on using it as a drying aid diluted in water or mixed with another QD like Megs Last Touch though then wait at least 1 week to use it after a wash. Hope this helps.

I actually enjoy the glass and shine it produces in my car, it may be not the shiniest but it always looks clean for longer time that any other wax, sealant or detailing product I have ever used.

This is why i use fusso. Its also great to coat wheels! You can maintain it with their speed and barrier which extends durability , or their luxury gloss to get a warm wet look.

This is the best paste wax/sealant there is out there, period. Nothing comes close to Soft99's product.
I think it's pretty incredible, the durability seems nuts. The only let down was just the gloss, I wish it looked prettier, but man you can't beat that durability. Let's face it though, you can't have it all. It's like asking an engine builder to make it cheap, powerful and reliable. Pick two!

it is truly incredible, coated 3 cars and there is like 95% left in the can, one purchase should last a lifetime ( well at least the cars lifetime)

If your car is garage kept, you will get 12 months out if this! My car is washed once a week and us outside 24/7 and I get a solid 6 months out if it. Excellent product! But the key to me to application is using a thin layer as you wax.
Fantastic product. You don't need much at all per application so it should last some years for most. I still buy the original version here in the US. Preparation with chemical decontamination and claying the surface, prior to applying is very important.

Great video, the wash test is really impressive but one thing (which I appreciate time doesn't really permit) is allowing the panel to dry in between washes. That's a really good test regardless!
I used this fusso 12 month's head to head with turtle Ceramic + Graphene Paste Wax anniversary version . the truth is fusso 99 kicked turtle ceramic 75yr anniversary version in the ass 100 % made my silver color car look like a color chrome car it was gleaming so bright i had to put on my sun glasses just to look at it NO LIE . I love love this stuff OOOHHH and i also have the old original formula .
Fusso is the most durable consumer paint sealant I have ever used. It can be temperamental and tough to apply/remove (if the user is not used to paste). It does also knock down gloss BUT I love using Soft99 King Of Gloss as a topper or Sonax BSD if I am in warm conditions or in a hurry. Yeah, it does smell🤣
I love Fusso soft 99. It is the only thing that stays on my car.

First impression, 04/20/21
As with ANY product, wax or sealant, we must take our time to clean and polish to achieve the max possible shine and perfection, and I am doing every part of my car (a Mercedes Sportcoupe,W203, silver) piece by piece.
The hood: clayed and after polished with Scholl E2000 and 3M Ultrafine, with a cordless rotary from Flex.
After polish, cleaned with Carpro Eraser (great product)
The Fusso Coat (new version) with it’s sponge, without any pressure, and so thin that it was almost transparent.
After a few minutes, it was very easy to retire, excellent shine and slickness, but I will put another coat to ensure a good protection.

Interesting experiment, I've used this product for the last two years and it works well, but buy my experience it goes by time and not by how many washers, remember the paintwork will stand in bad weather, sunlight and in my country! salt on the road. also my car is used as taxi so it gets hammered as a work horse. I get about 8 month before I need to spend a day and do the treatment all over again. Don't get me wrong. The test you done does proved that u can wash it as many times as u like and u still get great results.
Yep, so you're absolutely correct. This is durability testing, not longevity testing. Longevity is much harder for an enthusiast like me to test. Environments aren't constant, even in the same location they vary, maybe one panel gets more sunny days, other gets more rainy days, etc... So this is kind of as good as it gets. The rule of thumb I've used, which mostly applies to lower durability products (i.e. not coatings and other 50-100-500+ wash products), is one wash a month and compared it to amount of months claimed by the product. That metric was largely more useful when I was starting to test, because durability of products is rapidly increasing. Back then I used to find tons of stuff that you wash a few times and it's gone, can't possibly last a year or multiple years like promised. But I completely agree, this does not prove longevity. However, in my experience durability does strongly correlate with longevity. It's reasonable to believe a product that is hard to wash off will last and they do tend to when I personally use them (outside of testing). I have looked at other testing people do, such as simulating longevity through exposure to various chemicals as a torture test, but I also don't find those particularly interesting. Pouring brake fluid over a car's hood isn't something anyone does in real life. So for now the best I can do is give as many data points as I can to show how a product might last based on what I can test. I really appreciate your insightful comment and you watching the video!
Thank you for mentioning the ppe and health hazards. I see too many videos where guys constantly test these car chemicals with no gloves, mask, glasses, poor ventilation etc.
Absolutely, I think people get a bit carried away with all the fruit scented products and forget that there can be risks.

I've used this for a few years, kinda sad they made a newer version it's lost most of what made it popular with the change. I started using it when I was living in North Dakota (very long, very cold winters) with a ton of salt on the roads every day. Corrosion was a big issue and this really seemed to last the full winter for me even tho I was normally paranoid and would top it up with turtle wax seal and shine about 5 months in.
I really liked the applicator tho, it's cheap, it's not great, but if you want to put an insanely thin layer on with it you could. It would get so cold there I would clean the car and park it in the garage and apply the wax, get cold go inside and remove it in the morning. If put on very thin it's insanely easy to remove and honestly I kinda liked giving it the night to set up -30 tends to make most waxes cure slowly anyways.
Guess I should add this but I've never actually achieved 12 months with this sealant, for me 9 months is about the limit but that is still really respectful when so many other products claim a year and 2-3 months later virtually gone.

As far as 9+ months in such rough conditions that seems excellent for a sealant. I bet here in Texas if it survives the heat (synthetics usually do) it could last quite a while.

I put this on my car last October before the winter set in here in the Midwest USA. It is STILL beading and made it the entire winter with all the road salt they generously throw on the roads where I live.

The most important step, as you already know, is prepping the surface. It feels really weird not applying another coat of wax since it is so durable. I will try to post how it handles the heat of summer since I have to park outside at work.
Hi Dmitry, just discovered your channel and been liking and watching several of your video's and subd. I hope you are doing great? I liked your review on the soft99 and wanted to ask if its still as good as you showed in this video with respect to shine, or if there is something you think has come out better since March 28 2020 when this was made. I have a knew white truck and want to start out with something like this, I was even considering doing the Adam's graphene coating but if the shine rating is better on the soft99 will go that direction. Appreciate your time, great youtube channel! I respect your opinion :) Want to make sure I use one of your links for whatever I chose. Plus, I did watch your video comparing the original Fusso to the new one but I think that was made in 2020 as well.
Thanks for subscribing Robert! I'm doing great, obviously current news is awful, but in general things are good. I really liked Soft99, but I think it's strong suit is the durability and cost. I wouldn't say its necessarily the super shiniest thing out there. It is very easy to use though.
Comparing it with the Adam's Graphene Coating (liquid or spray) is a bit unfair as they're different product types. Adam's is definitely harder to use. You need to have good lighting and really take your time to lay the product down cleanly without high spots. It will retain more gloss than Soft99 by a good amount, within what the eye can see. It is also massively more durable than Soft99, but the skill level involved is definitely higher to apply correctly. Furthermore if you have no machine polisher and you apply it and make a high spot, you won't be able to get it out easily if you let it cure. You can get it out quickly right after with more of the product as a solvent, but once it's cured you really need to polish it out.
There is a light version that has more gloss, this one is supposed to bring out deeper color, according to the guy in the store where I bought it at least.
By far the best non coating protectant I've ever used. It's definitely not one of those high gloss, super shine, warm glow enhancing products upon application. But if it is applied to a highly polished defect free surface, after some time in the the elements it does maintain a good appearance better than most other sealants and waxes. The gloss and color enhancing components added to many other products are prominent with initial application, but break down quickly.

Put a layer of Soft99 King of Gloss on top of the Fusso Coat and you will have amazing gloss. Best of both worlds.
Over here in the states i use purple power rv & vehicle wash its a high ph wash. I strictly use this as a strip wash. Cant beat the price $7.00 a gallon you might find it on Amazon. This does not suds up to much i do wipe down panels with ipa or dedicated product. Soft99 great products as you can see.✌

Something interesting about Fusso coat: after the extremely easy wash of my car, the drying towel seems to “fly over” the paint.
Seems that it becomes slicker after the first wash, and obviously the repelency is simply amazing.

No mess no fuss, turtle wax seal and shine,
With this you gotta make sure you don’t get it on any plastic/rubber trims, as well as little nooks and crannies that you might miss or the sealant dries into a thick chalky substance.
Thanks for watching, I like Seal N Shine too, but it's not as durable as this product. So if you want more durability it may be worth it to deal with the installation.
I wash weekly and 2 times a week in the winter. I'm in Minnesota so you get heat, below freezing temp and road salt. I might do half my car in this and coat the otherside with meguires hybrid coating both rated for 12+ months.
What product would you recommend as a top off for this wax to make it more glossy?
I've got 3 cars and I've been using the same can of Fusso Coat, for almost 4 years.
I reapply every 9 or 10 months, whether it needs it or not.
A meter might indicate that it doesn't shine as well a P21s, but I want the durability.
Its funny but I just tested the new formula of this wax last week. I mentioned that I bet people were using the original formula as a lifetime supply, especially if they had one car ;).

It's off 99 Fusso it's one of the best waxes I have tried so far but I live in Florida so we have a lot of sun rain sap so I get probably six to seven months out of it

Glad you enjoyed the video! You can apply this to painted surfaces. So if the bumpers are plastic but painted same as the rest of the car it's ok. If the bumpers are however matte or unpainted plastic, then do not apply it as it will cause discoloration.

Used Fusso on my old Mercedes S211 and I like that it isn't boosting the gloss because my cooler was the Black metallic with a Green tint to it that's hard to show off with a high gloss.
I'm now going to se how the Dark Fusso looks on a Light Silver Passat 3B5 (I know I've has taking a marathon of steps back from driving a Mercedes to driving af VW but it was unfortunately what I had to do 😕)

This is Flourine based correct? If so, flourine is a popular coating for high end camera lenses that helps with dust/dirt/oil repellency, as well as something that is easy to clean.
Yep it's supposed to be a ptfe coating. Interesting! Sometimes there are really good synergies between industries.

Teflon is PTFE. I doubt it’s applied to camera lenses.

Thanks! I generally only recommend ceramic or silica based products on plastics. Some pastes and liquids, unless otherwise indicated on the label, can stain plastics.

It should be ok, but I recommend testing it out since chemical interactions could occur (i.e. top wax strps the bottom wax).

I would expect it to cure quicker, once it seems hazed and wipes up easily it should be fine.

I put Soft99 on my wife’s black Mazda Tribute SUV. The car is driven daily in our harsh Chicago environment. The coating was still beading after 14 months. I’ve worked with just about every product out there and none have come close to Soft99 for longevity. Most of the products I’ve used that claim 12 months protection have lasted 6 months, at best(and that includes many big-buck sealants).

Hey, I know it's kinda late lol but I'll help you out. I had the same question before buying Fusso and did some googling. Somebody on reddit claimed they talked directly to somebody from Soft99 and they explained that the "light" version of Fusso contains a higher ratio of solvents and "cleans" (whatever that means) the surface better. The "dark" version we see here could be considered a purer, stronger form of the wax, from what I understand. Just FYI, I've used the dark version on white cars, and on many other colors, and it works great every time.
@@fdu6 I used the light on a dark blue car. The car was lighter in color, it looked like another painting. But as the wax comes out you can see the different shades through the painting.

Thanks for the suggestion Derek. I will look into the product and see if it is something I can review. I do already wonder about their claims; "CUT CAR WASH TIME TO 5 MINUTES" You're definitely not doing a good job washing your car if you do it in 5 minutes, don't care how good your coating/wax is.

Yes, you can polish this off later, it should come off with a light compound.
What is your opinion comparing this product to collinite 915/845? Waxes i prefer. Is the beading/sheeting much better than this all american classics?
John, Ive not tested 915, but the 845 is much weaker than this product as far as beading and longevity.
do not apply on the bumper ? even with paint on it ? or do not apply on raw bumper?
I believe they mean an oldschool bumper, like a vinyl, rubber or textured plastic trimmed one.
how to strip or remove fusso coat?
could this be used as a ceramic topper? I did hear some waxes/sealants could clog the ceramic coating ..which is said, it is not good
Tom, I would not use this as a topper, because it has a lot of solvents in it and it's likely to dissolve the ceramic coating.
Was your test panel glass? Isn't this product designed for application on paint only or can it be used on windscreens?
Padma, thanks for watching and commenting! It is a glass panel, but we're only testing gloss on it, not durability. That being said, I've found the vast majority of products do work on glass/windscreens. Some better than others, especially when wipers and bug/de-ice spray are involved.

So what I meant by my question was that I thought these chemicals are meant to bond to the clear coat and then create a reaction with each other which produces first gloss/shine, then hydrophobic protection? I just assumed it wouldn’t be designed to bond to glass in the same way so therefore gloss testing on glass wouldn’t have the correct results compared with a gloss test with a clear coated panel? Sorry for my ignorance, I am new at this and looking for quality products. Your tests are great BTW 👌

Does Fusso affect microfibers towels like ceramic coatings, having to demote the used towels to less delicate surfaces?

I haven't tried Botny, but I would definitely avoid putting Fusso on plastics/rubber.
Gloss enhancer and wax in the shampoo?
It's just Adam's basic shampoo, it does not claim to include any wax or gloss enhancers. I use it for all my other tests, so it wasn't the shampoo adding to the wax. Thanks for watching!
Is it ok to apply some spray shine once it is being applied by the soft99 fusso?? Specially after car washes
You would really have to test it out. Some products play well together, some dont. Unfortunately i havent tested that!

The 2 things that keep me away from Fusso Coat are the tricky application (even the new version isnt that easy) and the near total lack of "gloss". I am currently using Soft99 Mirror Shine, which looks amazing and is by far the easiest to apply wax I ever had.
How long does it appear to last?

Why not use the gloss meter on the hood?
Sean, I used to do this. Unfortunately there are drawbacks to that plan. For one the hood is not a flat surface, so you have to hold the gloss meter carefully. Secondly it is a painted and polished surface so the GU rating varies across the surface. Finally because waxes are not usually self leveling the inconsistency between the thickness of the wax and the variance in gloss on the hood makes it harder to gauge results. This is why I do 5 measures on the test panel, so I can see if the wax has high and low spots. The test panel I use is +/- a few 10ths of a gloss unit across the whole thing. This way we get much more consistent and easy results.
can i use both fusso coat and with fusso authentic premium as my top coat
I haven’t tried Fusso Authentic Premium yet, but I imagine that it will work fine.
Haven’t tried premium, but if you apply Kiwami on top of fuso it adds a excellent layer of gloss.

Satin/matte is always a bit of a challenge. I would go ceramic coating if it were me. Its the safest bet to avoid making the satin/matte finish look polished.
@@DmitrysGarage the car that will be used for this coating has Avery Dennison Satin black wrap. It has a glossy/matte finish, a more glossy finish than Hexis Satin black wrap. So yes it might be a challenge!
I have used Gyeon q2m and Tershine Refract without any problems so far.
I have used different methods of applying the Gyeon q2m, but it would last a maximum of 1 week, and the hydrophobic would disappear.
My plan was to use fusso coat with Tershine refract to get that little bit of gloss back.
The only ceramic coating for matte wraps that I can think of is Gyeon q2 Matte. I wonder if you have used any Gyeon Ceramic coating product, and how it would compare against the fusso coat, or would you say it is hard to compare?

Can I apply Fusso with DA polisher?
I wouldn't recommend it as paste waxes are harder to dose with a DA and this particular product can be a bit tougher to wipe up. I'd go by hand. Thanks for watching!
You definitely do NOT want to use a DA. This stuff needs a small foam applicator to get it right. Be hard pushing it into the tin, twist a quarter turn, and then softly smear it on the panel…avoiding edges. Let your towel wipe-off ‘take’ the product to the edges. Trust me- this stuff is serious and cures very quickly. You have to be skilled to get the most out of it. That’s why I love it.

I would recommend changing your notation system. 1 point per wash does not make sense. It will mask the other criteria. Basically even an awful product to apply, no gloss, no softness, will get a high mark if it lasts a high number of washes. I'd recommend giving a point for every 5 or 10 washes instead.
I'll definitely consider it. My reasoning was that durability seems to be the biggest factor people look at. Some products do get hit pretty hard to gloss, like Last Coat 2 lost 10 points on gloss. It definitely hurt it on the top chart. I am also working on a way to do UV and heat testing in a standardized way that should help. I'm also still researching how to test slickness in an affordable and consistent way so it should start to balance out scoring beyond just durability. I will consider what you said though.
@@DmitrysGarage For slickness you could use a teflon pad you put on a horizontal test surface. Then you slowly recline the surface and you measure at what angle the pad starts to slide. Would you be concerned with running the pad along or over those lines?
Ultimately it's only 9 months old so paint just needs a light polishing before it gets hit with some Fusso...

Dave, the contours are annoying. When machine polishing avoid high siding the polisher on the ridges. Basically treat all flat surfaces separately. So hit the big flats. Then angle the polisher and hit the small vertical flats (a smaller polisher pad would be nice here) and then lightly hit the ridges. If you try to just polish flat over the ridges you’re putting too much friction/heat on them.

Consider someday developing or applying a slipperiness test. Possibly by measuring the force needed to move an object up an inclined surface. Or perhaps measuring the time a weight takes to move an object up the surface.

Frank, ive been trying to make a test for this and looked into tribometers. I tried a few sled type ideas but they’re not sensitive enough in practice to be consistent for this application. The rollercoaster idea is one i had not considered. Perhaps this is a better way to get consistency. Professional tribometers are quite pricey, thousands of dollars. Thanks for the link!

Used this on my car today. Love the product, but too bad I scratch my car up everytime applying it because it's a paste wax. Polish -> Coat (Scratchmania) -> Unable to remove the wax -> Anger -> Polish -> ... Never ending cycle :')
You might be using a little too much. Its very easy to over apply this wax. Its the worst thing about it. You gotta just go really thin. Also make sure your buffing towels are nice and soft, rag company has some great options. Also a spritz of detail spray can help. I dont use it in my tests to avoid tainting the test, but it works in practice.
@@DmitrysGarage Thank you for the tips man! I know the wax is very easy to over apply, but I think it's more the fact I own a black car and I gotta touch it to apply and buff the product haha! Could be the pads, towel too for all I know. Breathing scratches black paint lol. By spritzing detail spray, do you mean with applying and spray the pad or when buffing and spray the panel?
@@kjwakjwa8502 I mean applying the detail spray to the buffing towel when removing, it's useful if you over applied. Should help soften up the remaining surface wax to come off. Try it out next time it is being stubborn!
U V is the one of the biggest killers. Be interest to know how long in fairs / lasts in the sun...does that diminish it life and protection...
Good video. My only concern is that washing this panel over and over and saying that its equivelent to 12 months of cars washes or more. It's not real world testing you know. You dont have hours and hours of the sun beating down on it or road crap or salt and oils from other nasty vehicles. Under real world conditions the durability is probably a lot less. ty
You're absolutely right and I do touch on that in the video. In my testing I use 12 as a plausible benchmark saying that if it can pull off at least 12 it's plausible it may last a year. Obviously there are variables in the real world that can't be control tested in a comparable way with other products. Thanks for watching!
It don't take 15 minutes, 5 to 8 mons is more than enough, and don't do 3 panels at a time. Fusso is best done in small areas, if it dries to much it goes like powder and can be very tricky to remove
Soak the applicator with water and ring it out
It keeps the applicator from building up with wax
It also helps in putting just a tiny amount on the applicator which is all you need
I also work in small areas ( 2 x 2)
It flashes within a minute
No residue left over
Very easy to wipe off and then Buff
And no high spots
Its a great product
You can put a second layer on top after 24 hrs and will get a year out of it for sure
Or use Fusso King Of Gloss or Mirror shine for more gloss as a topper and sacrificial layer.
A can should last you literally years.
