    RE: My recommendations for the type of Niacin. You won't have options for buying this vitamin (synthetic or natural). The only thing to keep in mind with buying niacin, to get the benefits I described is that you want the one that creates the flushing response. The non-flush doesn't give you the heart benefits, however, does give different benefits.

      @Drberg ,
      My mother has atherosclerosis, she is now on a tough journey to quit smoking due to the cause and effects it has had on this disease. She does take a prescription for it. I also have her taking super beets for the nitric oxide, and since she has been on it consistently, she can walk longer and farther without her legs cramping as much.
      Is niacin a viable option for my mother to take to help with her disease?
      Can she take niacin with her current medication? I am assuming it shouldn't react with any medications, but I am asking because you are the expert?!
      Where would I get it? A health food store? I'm in Canada, so I'm not sure if it is different up here from the US!

At first they said because I had kidney stones at the time, (because of the chronic pain) I had high BP. However, after the stones were removed, BP went down, but... not as much as I (or my Dr.'s would like). I was still around 140(145)/86(90). Lost 10 pounds, no change in BP. Went for a CTA heart scan with contrast, ZERO plague all is clear, no issues at all. BUT.. BP was still high. I have been taken Losartin 25 mg the whole time.. After 4 days of Niacin, BP steady at 117/71, my Dr. wants me to stop using Losartin and see what happens... Thanks Dr. Berg!!!

He would have me go into Kroger‘s and buy every bottle that they had on the shelf at the time. I don’t know how many milligrams he took each day but it was a lot. He would experience that red flash after taking him and explain to me that it was a proof that “the niacin was doing its job.” He died at 84 from cancer. My father took simvastatin long term and his health was worsened everyday, he lost all appetide to eat, everything tasted bad to him, his muscle became so weak he lost his ability to walk, he won't eat anything and then he died.
      I didnt know simvastatin caused it until my doctor prescribed it for my cholesterol, i consumed it for 1 week and i felt so bad. I started googling and i found so many side effects, doctors didnt say anything about side effects when they prescribed it.
      I stay away from statin since then.

    Dr. Berg is correct with his info. My cholesterol numbers were terrible about two years ago. My doctor wanted to put me on a statin. I did a bit a research and found that niacin had potential benefits. After six months of taking 1000 mg of niacin per day my cholesterol numbers have been perfect and I’ve never felt better. My total cholesterol dropped from 286 to 152 and my LDL/HDL numbers are perfectly within range.

Seems dumb to me because I’m pretty healthy & I’m young for my age. My BP is a bit high, but not alarming & 10 mg per day of lisinopril is the only med I take. I think Dr Berg is far more knowledgeable than my Dr, so I’m going to start the niacin asap & see what my blood test says in 6 months.

    Wow thanks Dr. Berg. I just turned 50 and lost both of my parents who had relatively poor health quite early in life. Dad had diabetes in his 40’s, several heart attacks and ultimately died of cancer at 53. Then my mom suffered from Parkinson’s in her 40’s which she succumbed to last year at age 72. I feel overwhelmed and anxious about my health and try to approach my lifestyle differently than my parents so deeply appreciate all of your helpful tips that are affordable! Healing shouldn’t make someone break the bank. Would it be ok yo take niacin if you don’t have known heart issues but for prevention?

      Eat healthy, exercise and meditate with breathing exercises to state the obvious that’s all we can do eh? Worried about cancer? Look into turkey tail mushrooms…

      Yes, I took it for years. I start at low level, like 100mg a day until I have no flush. Then I increase to 200mg, ect. At some point, it’s needed to increase also the other b vitamins, electrolytes, ect. For better results ❤

      @@lexcappella I’m experimenting with different brands. Vitalbulk, vitaking, lifeextension, so far. Hoping that Dr Berg’s makes his own because I find it impossible to find local niacin without maltodextrin.

      @@lexcappella Dr Berg recommended the brand “now” and at 500 mg a day. You must get the one with the flush because that exact same brand does one also without the flush and it is the flush that provides the protection the heart needs. Make no mistake you will panic with your first flush, I did. I thought I was going to combust but you won’t you will be perfectly OK, just persevere through it. Your body gets use to it after a week and then after a period the flush becomes less. I now take into 1000 mg a day. It’s absolutely fine to take up to 2000 mg in a day. However, Dr Berg says 500 mg which what I started with.

    Thank you Dr. Berg! I will include niacin in my daily regime. It's always great to know a remedy that can do many things for the body at such a small cost. 🥰
