Thank you god that I only took simvastatin for a few month, then my doctor switched to ros....something, and then I started investigating statins and so I told her I was still on it but I stopped. I instead cut out all sugars, most carbs and started excercising, eating nuts and veggies, cut down on meat and no more processed foods. Lost 25# in a few months and all my prediabetes, high Cloresteral scores went away, good went up, "bad" went down and basically I became healthy, again.

Its is the soft plaque that is dangerous and which burst and causes heart attacks. Calcified plaque is considered stable plaque. You can watch Dr Brewers videos on this as well as many other Functional medical Doctors. You also need your LP (A) checked and AP0B. I refused to take statins for about 20 years despite constantly high LDL, based on the absence of other risk factors such as smoking, obesity or lack of exercise. Going low-carb has in fact raised slightly the ldl, but lowered significantly triglycerides and Hdl, thus lowering cardiovascular risk. I do take supplements, such as Apple cider vinegar, but ldl got back within the guidelines with daily red rice yeast.

The brain NEEDS cholesterol. It's role:
Component of Cell Membranes: Cholesterol is a major component of the cell membranes of neurons and glial cells, ensuring their structural integrity and fluidity.
Myelin Sheath Formation: Cholesterol is essential for the formation and maintenance of the myelin sheath, which insulates nerve fibers and facilitates the rapid transmission of electrical impulses along neurons.
Synapse Function: Cholesterol is involved in the formation and function of synapses, the connections between neurons that allow for communication and signal transmission.
Neurotransmitter Release: It plays a role in the synthesis and release of neurotransmitters, chemicals that transmit signals across synapses.
Brain Development: Cholesterol is particularly important during brain development, influencing the growth and differentiation of neurons.
The brain synthesizes most of its cholesterol locally, as the blood-brain barrier restricts the uptake of cholesterol from the bloodstream. Thus, adequate cholesterol production within the brain is critical for its proper functioning.

    • @dragons_red

That's because nurses and doctors are human body mechanics, not scientists.
Like auto mechanics, they are taught a trade and "this is how you do" with only very basic science explaination in schooling as to why (which can be incorrect).
You wouldn't think of a car mechanic as an automotive engineer.
But our modern society is obsessed with treating them as "heros" thus get this incorrect thinking of them as smarter than they are, and lots of them let it go to their head.
I'm not saying there AREN'T docs and nurses that DO know better (smar with auto mechanics), but they are far from the norm.

He gave me a prescription for statins which I took for 3 days. I felt like crud & also my libido was affected for the first time in my life. I later talked to the experienced cardiologist who told me I should never have been prescribed it & that he generally used it for 70 year old men. I highly recommend using herbal medicines to replace "advanced" modern prescriptions, because they don't have the side effects & health risks that the long term use of prescriptions have.

I know a man who had a 90% blockage in a major artery to his heart. His doctor was opened minded and did not buy into the Statin craze. He immediately put the man on Vitamin D3, Vitamin K2 and CoQ10. In six weeks the calcification had reduced by 32%. In six months the entire blockage was gone! No stints, No surgery! Also the flexibility returned to his blood vessels. It is not cholesterol that blocks your arteries it is calcium! As blood vessels become rigid they can develop tears. Cholesterol acts as a natural bandaid to cover the tear, however calcium deposits around the tear and the vessel starts to clog. D3 keeps the calcium in motion, K2 takes calcium from the blood and puts it in the bones and teeth where it belongs. The CoQ10 greatly improves heart health! More and more doctors are discovering this supplement trio packs a punch for cardiovascular health!

But additionally GP's don't have much choice but to comply with the wishes of their industry bodies (which are fully controlled by big pharma) lest they lose their licence to practice.
This was made crystal clear from the onset of the plandemic. A lot of GP's have to now wrestle with their conscience and only some will choose to change careers.
Underpinning much of this 'problem' is the fact that nearly all of the GP's (and other medical specialists) were literally indoctrinated throughout their university learnings and in their literature. The health [wealth] system takeover was put in motion many, many years ago by corporations controlling pharma, political lobbying, licensing bodies, etc.

He used to complain about muscle aches too. So be careful with statins. Reducing cholesterol definitely not working for my family.

Bur if we are to use science to create accountability we must cloude our judgement with our own antistatin bias. Then we shoot ourselves in the foot with the same gun we accuse Pharma of using.
      You mention high risk patients.
The meta study you mention does not clearly state the risk profile och the patients.
      Primary prevention is one group.
      Secondary prevention is the other.
One can gues that the sdcond group has a higher risk profile than the first.

A week after the surgery I stopped taking the statin. My blood sugars went back to normal. I have never had high cholesterol or blood sugars. My mother was diabetic and 6 out of 9 brothers and sisters are diabetic. I have done everything I can to avoid becoming diabetic such as healthy eating, exercise and keeping my weight in the normal range. It’s been two years since my surgery and the doctors are still trying to get me to take the statin when I do not have high cholesterol. They keep recording on my records that they recommend a statin but I refused. They can put that statin where the sun don’t shine because I will not take it and become a diabetic.

Statins also remove CoQ10 from the body which is needed by the brain and muscle repair. My pharmacist "strongly suggested" that I take CoEnzymeQ10 to replace it if I stayed on statins after a heart attack in 2009. My bodies response was the same as your husbands, so I threw them away but continued with the CoQ10. I was told my heart had suffered 20% damage from the heart attack and annual checkups indicated that was true. My Pharmacist friend also advised me that the heart DOES repair itself very slowly at around 2% per year. By 2018 no heart damage was in evidence. Since most MDs are very good in learning by heart and skipped their statistics lessons, which they would really need since medicine is an empiric science, they just take and swallow the new "knowledge" that is presented to them. That's so much easier than reading studies yourself.

It’s the SPEAKERS at these meetings who ARE reimbursed.

I had been taking statins for 25 years and was having muscle pain to the extent I could hardly walk a quarter mile, no matter how much I pushed myself. My doctor had told me "Walk through the pain". I had not made the connection that it was the statin that was doing it. But in year 2021 RUclips showed a video that clued me in. Still, it took months for me to get the courage to quit, and I was very nervous about facing my doctor. But January 2022 I stopped the statins and my muscle pain went away, slowly over months. I was prescribed Lipitor for 18 years, from the start I made complaints to my doctor about side effects, at the start he said detriment is outweighed by benefit. Over the 18 years I had regular check ups, some invasive, they found nothing wrong, which was attributed to the drug. I continued my side effects and my complaints, the doctor changed and ascribed the side effects to other (vague) effects. So, I unilaterally stopped taking the Lipitor 2 months ago, within a month the main “side effect” I had complained of and been told was a “mechanical” disappeared. The only change I made was to stop taking it, I can now exercise.

I listed of some of the things I'd learned about cholesterol in my biochemistry degree, such as all the vital functions cholesterol performs in the body. I also told her there's no such thing as bad cholesterol as the molecule is the same but the lipoproteins are different. I also told her about the alternative hypotheses to the cholesterol hypothesis. I also knew about the statistics on the benefits and the difference between relative and absolute (I'm sure she had no idea.) Then I told her about my mother, on statins for decades and with every symptom of low cholesterol in the book (they're listed as side effects on the statins drug packets). I believe I'm listed on my medical records now as a 'delinquent' because I told her she was welcome to give me a prescription but I would be filing it in the garbage bin.

Speaking to a young British doctor quite recently, he told me that if you haven't had a "cardiac event"by 45, don't worry about it. It's far more important to watch your weight, blood pressure and have a calcium score test done bi-annually. Calcium build up in the coronary arteries is far more dangerous.

Back in 1990 I went to a doctor who was shocked by my cholesterol reading. She freaked out on the spot and told me that unless I immediately took statins I'd have a stroke by the end of the month. I must admit her reaction did frighten me but I resisted and never took the statins. Well here I still am 33 years later, undoubtedly with sky high cholesterol but still alive. My mother however, was not so fortunate. That same doctor freaked her out and she acquiesced to her demands and took the statins. Almost immediately she started having electric shocks in her legs and would collapse on the footpath. This continued and in the end she could barely walk. She was diagnosed with an auto immune condition called 'polymyositis' where the body attacks the muscles, primarily of the legs. It is my view that the statins caused this condition. This was the only thing wrong with her but when she could no longer walk she just gave up the ghost at 92. There was nothing else wrong with her.

Congratulations on being a critical thinker! Obviously it has paid for you. I have elevated cholesterol too but will not take statins. I feel its elevated to protect me from some other issues so will continue to ignore Doctors who only want to push the protocol. I had a heart check and I’m perfectly fine. I have a friend who is younger than me and she is going down the same path as your mum, unfortunately. But people must make their own choices.

My lipids were higher than the doctor liked so he prescribed atorvastatin. 3 weeks later I was in the emergency room with rhabdomyelosis. I told the doctor no way was I going to EVER take another statin. He said the different statins have different mechanisms of action, yadda yadda, but I held firm and switched to niacin. And my lipids are fine.

Thanks for spreading the word. To add to the adverse effect problem: many of the effects take time to appear and the patient (victim) may not recognize the connection between the adverse effect and the statin.
I also love that 3% is "high risk." Imagine if the Doctor framed the statistic like this: "You're at high risk. The chance of not having a heart attack in the next 10 years is 97%."

@elsiemorales9934 I recommend you ask your doctor for hard numbers on what your risk is and how much the statins are really reducing that risk. Then you'll have to decide if that theoretical benefit is worth the pain you have to put up with and the damage to your quality of life for what could be a much smaller risk reduction than you realize.

Wow! You actually linked studies 😍🥰 I appreciate you so much! Statins are thrown at patients so much, even healthy patients. I'm tired of having this verbal argument with physicians and would like to settle the issue once & for all. It irritates me that they keep lowering the bar for cholesterol, blaming it for heart & vascular issues so they can prescribe statins to more patients, ones who suddenly now have "high cholesterol" despite having the same numbers they had last time they were tested. I'm a nutritionist & am a big advocate for whole foods, very low carb/ketosis/carnivore/etc., no sugar, no processed foods, intermittent fasting and utilizing supplements, herbs, vitamins, minerals & compounds to help round out a healthy change in lifestyle.

This statistical trickery by drug companies reminds me of a Dilbert comic strip that shows a staff meeting where they are trying to describe a company problem in a less negative way. Problem: the company's product is killing customers. After several attempts to make this sound better, they finally come up with something like: "There has been a significant decline in dis-satisfied customers." But read the original comic if you can find it; it's much funnier seeing how all the staff members react to this.

The doc told him to buy Red Yeast Rice supplement, take it for a few months then stop for an interval before resuming. My husband goes back for his retest in October to see if his one artery plaque has reduced.🤞🤞 Doctors are quick to put people on the heavy duty stuff that has bad side effects when there might be an alternative.

Was on statins for over 20 years and during that whole time suffered leg cramping - stopped taking them when I developed type 2 diabetes and started to do some research and it was like a light switch - did not even realize the brain fog they had caused. Diet and exercise are what keeps us healthy - and for me - reversed my Diabetes from A1C 7.8 to 5.8 which it has no been for the past 5 years with no meds. I also stopped 80 mg aspirin a few years back as it caused eye bleeds. I now take daily Natto. Thanks for your posts!

Was prescribed atorvastatin, one a day, when my ldl count was slightly high. A runner of 10ks every three weeks or so for 20 years, I noticed on one run recently that my thigh muscles were aching badly after the run. A few weeks later, my thigh muscles were aching badly even during the run. This had never happened before. I was also feeling muscle pain at the base of my back. It was also taking about four days for the thigh muscle pain to ease after a run. After some research I decided to stop taking the statin daily. Within two weeks all my muscle aches and pains have disappeared. I’ll either stop the statin completely or try a different type.

Bottom line is I stopped taking it and after your information I now know this was the right thing to do. I will investigate the enzymes follow the other “blood softening” suggestions.

Thank you so much for your video and the one on Nattokinase. I was only taking 4,000 FU's with Serrap the last 3 years but have been inconsistent this past year but not sure if it helped. Possibly. But I had also stopped after taking a low dose, 5 mg, of Rosuvastatin becuase of those side effects of muscle pain and noting my BG's were higher. I already fight a family history of heart disease and DM and I do not not need this medication to create more problems. I will increase the dosage and see where my CA scoring is in about a year. Thank you for simplifiying the reason why I should not take a statin. I knew the answers but never could articulate the reason why. Of everyone I listen to regarding this topic, you have really simplified this topic so that I understand and feel armed with valuable information. Thank you again.

The Dr was speechless and said I didn’t need statins just keep doing what I was doing.
