  • Join me as I dive into some of the most exciting probiotic research for cardiovascular health. Bacillus subtilis, a very common, but powerful probiotic not only enhances gut health but looks to play a crucial role in cleansing our blood and supporting our heart.
    Clinically backed to support healthy lipid levels, and endothelial function, Bacillus subtilis may also produce the heart-protective enzyme nattokinase right in your digestive system, while also synthesizing Vitamin K2, prebiotics, and other beneficial chemicals for heart health.

      If one wants to eat beets they are welcome to them, but they at least need to be aware that Azetidine-2-carboxylic acid (Aze) is a non-protein amino acid found in beets and other plants that can be toxic affecting collagen, keratin, hemoglobin, protein folding and cause congenital malformations. Also, something else I learned, Huitlacoche known as "corn mushrooms" is a fungus considered a delicacy along the Texas-Mexico border but consumption by pregnant women has been associated with an increase in neural tube defects in newborns. Tortillas made from corn infected with this fungus is also a source of concern.

      The only negative about beets, for me personally, was that they contain a non-protein amino acid called Azetidine-2-carboxylic acid (AZE) which is a proline homolog which can cause improper protein folding. There is possible evidence supporting the hypothesis that AZE misincorporation may result in disorders of neurodevelopment and autoimmunity. Its fine if people like to eat beets; they can have my portion. As far as the effect of fermentation on AZE, I have no idea.

      Before I had a minor heat attack I ate whatever was available. That life changing event 6 months ago I never heard of Nattokinase. Was released from the hospital the doctor gave me a short list of what to cut out of my diet which included things I ate regularly. I was told I had 43/5 blockage of an artery and given a 2 item list if of things to take daily, one was a statin. When home my GF one doctor suggestion was to cut out sex at 75 but my 47 year old beautiful GF was sure he was wrong, and also cut out working out at the gym 3 times a week. For someone with such an active life, like twice a week going dancing in clubs, working out, long hikes in the forest, walking 5-10 miles a day, and not driving a car for 24 years(I was a car nut back home in California and had a large collection of classic Italian GTs of the 1950s to 1980 vintage but I gave everything away when I moved to St Petersburg Russia in Jan 2000 at age 51. Living in the city center of such a beautiful and cultured city, with excellent safe fast public transport there was no need to have a car. so with such an active life style I ate all that looked interesting. I sought a second opinion and the result was the same. I look up the statin I was to take and did not like the side effects of taking them the rest of my life as directed. I stopped taking them after reading more and changed my diet completely. So with new diet and suggested supplements and one item I had to order, NattoKinase. After 2 months I went back to the testing clinic and again wore a portable EKG for 24 hours and performed a set of activities such as running up 6. levels of stairs. The result was 18% blockage. Two more months of my new diet and Nattokinase daily the blockage was barely measurable. That doctor said to do whatever I was doing because it was working. I asked about whether sex was dangerous and if so I would be dead and that doctor, a female, laughed and asked why anyone wanted to live after cutting out sex.

    Glad to see I was ahead of the curve when I started making and eating (~50-60 g daily) my own natto about a year ago. Not only am I getting the probiotic b. subtilis strain specifically for making natto, but I'm getting the prebiotic it grew on at the same time, potentially allowing some of that to survive the first parts of its digestive journey and establish colonies. It took about six months for me to screw up the courage to even try natto, so many people hate it. I was delighted that I find it delicious plain, with asian mustard, or even with a dab of A-1 sauce. (Based on "try this" results, apparently I'm in a small minority in the U.S.)
    I also make homemade sauerkraut and low-carb yogurt (incorporating l. Plantarum as well as the usual s. thermophilus and l. bulgaricus). These are so delicious, it makes me sad how long I put up with store-bought products at 3x the cost and half the wonderful flavor and healthfulness.

      @DavidRodriguez-er4rq other foods don't have this. It is in the soil and on grass and the idea is that beans were transported in grass packages which then transfered to the beans. Also different strains grow wild on grass and in soils and not all are desirable. You can add natto spores to anything which has protien in it. I put the spores or some beans into milk and put it on a yoghurt setting...I think it is higher temp than for normal yoghurt I forget cos I haven't made it for ages...it will eat the pritiens in the milk but not the lactose or sugars so you are left with a sweet caramels smokey kind pudding. Usually yoghurt bacteria eat the lactose making the milk bitter or sour to taste as the sugars are used up. The opposite when you use natto instead or yoghurt to inoculate the milk. I found this a more pleasant alternative to the beans. Hope that is of help to you. You would have to make it yourself at home because they dont sell it and actually somone already owns the patent!

      @hsamzsd no its alive in the milk but I usually have natto beans so I just use them. I did buy starter before the spore powder but it did not work well and my beans just turned to yeast. I may have done something wrong so I just buy the natto and keeo it frozen and about 5 beans in the class container makes the yoghurt overnight. I've not tried keeping a spoonful and using that. That would be good actually cos then you wouldn't have the beans at the bottom. I dont see why it wouldn't work so definitely try it. But I suggest starting with a good natto that you like thr flavour of. Even kept in the fridge they last ages and only seem to get stnker but still work to inoculate the milk. Good luck Hope you enjoy it.

      Blood thinners work by interrupting the coagulation cascade, preventing blood from clotting depending on the dosage. Like most drugs, they inhibit certain enzymatic processes. Nattokinase, on the other hand, supports normal fibrin breakdown, known as fibrinolysis. However, it doesn't indiscriminately break down fibrin. It only becomes active when the immune system deactivates specific enzyme inhibitors, helping to maintain a balanced level of enzyme activity-especially for those who are enzyme deficient.

    I am not convinced. Yes the probiotic may increase the mechanism in the gut like Natto but it is not Natto and this would eliminate the digestion process of breaking down the soybean in the gut and I believe could decrease the effect. I am not sure anyone would research it but if the culture is changed the by products are also changed. The best example I can give is the difference between using Gaba directly vs L-theanine its precursor. I get remarkable benefits taking l-theanine but not so much with gaba. My body doesn't seem to be able to use Gaba as well directly and I believe it is something happening at the gut level that causes this. However the flip could be true as well. I have low stomach acid so all the benefits may not be obtain by eating Natto since it might not be broken down as well.

    While good to know of new research, there are a lot more questions unanswered. E.g what dose? And does the stomach's digestive acids kill it? Or must capsules be coated to break only in the intestines? Plus, what food does this probiotic feed on. They grow on soybeans, that sounds obvious; but if we eat soybeans, by the time it gets to the gut it will be digested and may not be in the form the probiotic needs.

    Isn’t the stomach killing all the bacteria, including bacillus subtilis when you ingest it as a form of Natto or in yogurt?

    • @natural-informant
      @natural-informant  4 месяца назад +9

      Great question. B.sub is actually in spore form when it is ingested as a supplement. Bacterial spores don’t germinate until they are in the intestine, past the stomach. This hardiness makes it one of the best species since it is very hardy and not susceptible to stomach acid. As for food sources, some of the living fully germinated bacteria are killed during the digestive process, but with the ph becoming less acidic with food (there is more acid, but there are more contents in the stomach absorbing a lot of that acid and taking up space) many of them still survive and make it to the intestinal tract. Another interesting point is that they are finding out now that probiotic bacterial DNA provides a large portion of the benefit of said probiotic. That’s why postbiotics are becoming very popular, which are dead probiotics.

    People who can't handle dairy, how do they get their lactobacilli probiotics?

    • @natural-informant
      @natural-informant  4 месяца назад +2

      Hello, I’ll answer your question in two different ways. First, you can consume lactobacilli probiotics through various non-dairy sources. Sauerkraut, kimchi, and fermented foods contain lactobacilli. Kombucha and non-dairy kefir made from water or plant-based milks are also good sources, and non-dairy yogurts as well as fermented soybean products like miso and tempeh, provide lactobacilli. And finally, probiotic supplements offer a direct and convenient way to consume these beneficial bacteria without dairy.
      If your question was more about lactobacilli coming from dairy, this is a common misnomer. While lactobacilli are commonly associated with dairy products due to their role in the fermentation process of milk, they are not exclusive to dairy and can thrive in many other non-dairy environments.🍻
