After 25 years on statins my father was like a zombie and could barely walk. Doc said it was "absolutely necessary" to keep taking them to prevent heart attack or stroke. I asked the doc why the Lipitor warning label says their product does not prevent heart disease or heart attacks to which he had no answer. Stopped taking statins 6 months ago and he has gotten strength in his legs back and regained memory. Statins are poison. Your body needs cholesterol.

In fact, she takes an entire SHOEBOX full of RX meds. You can't reason with her, though. I'm glad your father listened and got off those poisons.

I quit rosuvastatin after listening to Dr Berry. And I'm so glad that I did. My wife, at the time, demanded that I take it, as well as my PCP and I did at their very strong persistency. My husband literally just had a CC score that was about 800 so the doctor had him do ultrasound on all his arteries and veins which came out clear. His blood flow is wall-to-wall. He has no calcium in his carotid arteries none in the aorta I think there was a minimal tiny amount somewhere but nothing she said to be concerned about. It literally comes up as nothing, next is a nuclear stress test. He has never had high blood pressure or Adema or any signs of anything like heart related but yet they’re making him take Crestor 40 mg and now he’s having muscle cramps I think after the stress test he’s going to get off the Crestor. The pain went within a month. I’m now 64 and 6 months ago my GP wanted me to start atorvastatin after blood tests showed raised cholesterol and triglycerides. I said I’d try other remedies. A years ago I was referred to a cardiologist due to my chest pain plus shortness of breath, Doctor doubled up my crestor dosage to 10 mg. I felt that my muscles and bones, particularly the chest ribs pains were getting worse. Without talking to any doctors I reduced my crestor dosage down to 5 mg daily. It seems that I am feeling better after a month. In today’s regular visit to my family doctor, I requested his approval to reduce my dosage to 5mg (of course I didn’t tell him I have done it myself), he refused and said it is good for my heart. It's ridiculous how many medications so many patients are on. The worst is the antibiotics ordered without any gut support. Without fail, tons of our patients end up getting C. Diff, which of course means MORE (harsher) antibiotics. I can't wait to look into studies more and build up my credibility so I can start pushing back against some of these things that worsen patient outcomes. But ultimately I'll have to get out of the hospital setting and into home care because hospitals do not provide holistic health care.

But what really tipped the scales for me in terms of deciding that I didn't want to continue on a statin was a podcast discussion on RUclips between Dr. Mark Hyman and Dr. Robert Lustig. They talked about how LDL is what we treat in medicine because it's what we've got meds for. I was on ststins for 30 years to lower cholesterol. It did. It lowered my LDL from 190 to 50. Then I read the drug trials. Lipitor says reduction of CVD by 36%. But that is relative reduction. Absolute reduction is 1.1% and no change in ACM. An LDL of 50 is considered abetalipoprotenemia where you body does not make enough cholesterol and you die early. Side affects, brain fog, skin cancer, T2D, ED, parkinsons. I fired my doctors. Our body requires cholsterol and recycles the cholesterol. Our brains make their own cholesterol. Older people live longer and have higher brain function with higher cholesterol. I'm happy at 300 total cholsterol.

I had an MRI of my head on Monday and it was clear for any signs of stroke. At least this doctor listened to me. I chalk it up to a major health crisis in June of 2023. I was admitted for testing because my b/p was too low. I hemorrhaged from a malfunction of my Swan-Ganz catheter, Code Blue and 7 medical staff rushed me back to the cath lab, fixed the tear in my pulmonary artery and put me on a ventilator for 2 days……then 10 days later I had open heart surgery to remove my natural valve and a TAVR valve and give me a new one……..then, 8 days after that, I had to have a pacemaker. All this in 22 days in the best hospital I could have been in for living through this. So, my point is that I don’t know if the Zetia is messing with my brain or this is the new me. I’m 72, live alone and pretty much back to normal now. These other responses were scattered over 20 years or so and was not affected by any health crises. I bet they would say you are doing better continue with the treatment.. 😂😂😂instead of giving people drugs they should discuss diet first.

My wife had a stroke 5 years ago. To this day, no-one has ever been able to explain why. In fact it took 10 weeks and a brain scan before the stroke was diagnosed. She was extremely fit, of ideal weight, a non-smoker, had perfect heart health and a vegetarian with very low cholesterol levels. Her doctors put her on statins, as they really had no other suggestions. She had monthly blood tests. Within weeks, her liver function deteriorated rapidly. Her doctors stopped her statins and her liver function returned to normal levels. I would not take statins under any circumstances. If my cholesterol level is high, I'll cut all dairy and reduce it naturally.

    The Saturday Night Joke
A guy goes to the USDA to apply for a job.
The interviewer asks him, "Are you allergic to anything?"
He replies, "Yes, caffeine. I can't drink coffee.
"Okay, have you ever been in the military?"
“Yes," he says, "I was in Iraq for one tour."
The interviewer says, "That will give you 5 extra points toward employment."
Then he asks, "Are you disabled in any way?"
The guy says, "Yes. A bomb exploded near me and I lost both my testicles."
The interviewer grimaces and then says, "Okay. You've got enough points for me to hire you right now. Our normal hours are from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. You can start tomorrow at 10:00 am, and plan on starting at 10:00 am every day.
The guy is puzzled and asks, "If the work hours are from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, why don't you want me here until 10:00 am?"
"This is a government job", the interviewer says. "For the first two hours, we just stand around drinking coffee and scratching our balls. No point in you coming in for that.

In 2012 I had a heart attack and had a stent put in my right coronary artery. I have had no problem with my heart since then. However, as a part of my treatment they gave me a Statin. Because of that I have permanent chronic pain in my calves and am on morphine twice a day. I have been able to get off all the other meds the gave me including a sleeping aide, Clonazepam, that I was on for 20 years. I stopped taking Lipitor in 2013 but the side effects did not go away and have not till today. I am pleased to say at this point I am on no other meds for any other chronic diseases.
The side effects of the statin apart from chronic pain are: Overwhelming fatigue and debilitating muscles resulting in sarcopenia, and a worsening memory. The debilitating effects from the statin along and with my age continue to ravage my muscles, and it is slowly getting worse

I am now seeing a cardiologist who put me on 40 mg of crestor (for now). I will stop taking it as soon as my cholesterol goes back to acceptable. I still have upcoming tests scheduled to see WTH happened. My resting heart rate was 58 before I started carnivore. Statins are not required. What is required is self control. Exercise, a balanced meat containing diet and a healthy weight is all you need. I am 65, no comorbitities, take no prescription drugs whatsoever, i get checks via UK bio bank. One of the checks was a carotid artery ultrasound scan. It indicated an empty pipe with no arthoschlerosis whatsoever. My secret is life long exercise, particularly cycling, regularly taking my heart to and above my aerobic threshold of 171 bpm, staying slim, no smoking, hardly drinking alcohol and no over eating. Last night i checked my pulse at 37 b.p.m. resting. I have never taken a statin in my life. Exercise and lower body weight also helps you to live longer as well as being more healthy. The secret to that is reducing oxygen intake, net per day by your cardiovascular system being made more efficient and having to feed oxygen to a smaller body, with exercise and weight control, which uses net less oxygen per day. The burning of oxygen releases free radicals with every breath you take, destroying dna. Therefore the less oxygen you use within the constraints of still having the oxygen your body requires for life, each day, the longer you live.

My doctor keeps me on Rosuvastatin. I keep complaining about abdominal pain, severe fatigue, muscle pain. I eat a balanced diet. I don't exercise because I have no energy. My A1C keeps going up, and there is no diabetes in my family she says, "Eat healthier". I eat mostly vegetables (raw or partially cooked), lots of fruit and a good amount of water. Even with ice cream I'm at about 1500 calories a day. I am a smoker (date is set to quit) and that's what she blames all of the symptoms on, but these symptoms didn't start until I started taking my statin. I feel many doctors prescribe medications to cause other problems in order to prescribe another med and so on and so on. Plants and animals were put on this earth to provide what we need. I need to find a doctor that listens and create a healthy care plan not just prescribe a pill. It also matters if you eat organic or non organic. I've worked in Healthcare for over 20 years and seen many doctors look in a pill book to treat conditions because that's what they were shown to do.

I swear some doctors are more interested in how many meds they can get you on than actually helping their patients. I've had over 20 years of my doctors trying to push me into taking statins and I've refused every time. They do cholesterol tests, have the results come back as 'normal' and the first thing out of their mouths is they want me to take a statin yet have no rational explanation of why they want to take meds with serious side effects to reduce my normal levels of cholesterol. Your list is another set of reasons I won't take a statin. I heavily rely on my memory for my technical work and I have enough difficulties with it as I age and every statin user I've met has had memory difficulties stemming from the dose of statin they've been on.

The elephant in the room is probably just do not take statins. I believe research shows that if you take Statins every day for at least 10 years, your life expectancy increases by maybe 3 days. Mostly cholesterol isn't bad, only the very small dense portion, and low carb etc reduces the incidence of that. If you don't eat enough cholesterol containing foods your body MAKES cholesterol. It is essential to your cells function.
