I love it when Jim Breuer does Pesci. John Goodman was fantastic as DeNiro. And hands down to Darell Hammond impersonating Richard Dreyfuss. I actually thought it was Richard himself. The voice was spot on

Think they wanted to stay away from "Little bit" lines bc every other TV sketch show with Deniro impression does that line to death! In 90s, there were shows like SNL, Madtv, HBO Hardcore TV , etc..which all did Deniro characters using that phrase. Plus, Alec Baldwin already did it on SNL, before Goodman
Jim Breuer is often underrated as an actor but he was superb in this sketch along with John Goodman of course. That takes skills to maintain this dialogue, live, without making a mistake, going.

You're kidding, right? Hammond did EXACTLY what he was hired to do. He was the everyman who could be counted on to nail his parts...he was not the bombastic chaos of a Ferrell, or a Breuer, but his impressions were top-notch, his subtle performances lent the air of believability to nearly every sketch he was in... Run of the mill??? Hardly. I think you're thinking of Rob Riggle and Jerry Minor (among others...)

These season, this cast, and THESE skits is what my Saturday nights as a child/teen consisted of. Jim, Chris, Molly, Cherri, Tim, Darrel, etc. This is my my favorite cast by far.
This was one of my favorite sketches from that weird transition period where most of the cast was new and everyone was complaining about how all the good cast members had left. It was before Will Farrell had proven himself and the third great era of the show. I thought this sketch was going to be lost and only those who saw it at the time would remember it. My friends and I would do Goodman doing De Niro. He nailed it. I wish his Wilford Brimley was online, one of his funniest bits.
Well...not exactly. This was the FOURTH great era of the show...Original Cast....brief "comedy stars" period with Crystal, Short, and Guest....and then the Hartman, Carvey, Hooks + young bad boys era.... AND...the only true "good" CMs to leave after the 94-95 season were Sandler and Farley... And finally....Will Ferrell (correct spelling) PROVED HIMSELF IN EPISODE 1 of the 95-96 season. He, along with Cheri Oteri, Hammond, and Breuer (and Molly, held over from the previous season were already killing it LONG before this sketch aired in March of 1996...
