Ive always liked Breuer he seems like a genuine guy......i feel like when he tells a story hes telling it how it happened, instead of telling it in a way to make himself look better.

I feel the same way, He must be a tyrant and he used the old 'divide and conquer' method to further his career. SNL has been a joke for the last 30 years or so and not a good joke either.

Also, they have about a 10% hit rate on actually being funny. And I mean since the VERY beginning. These days it is more like 1% are funny. Compare that to something like Key & Peele. Consistently funny, rare misses.
I like how Jim gave us the real stories behind the scenes at SNL. I always wondered why some really good sketch artists always seemed to leave at some point from the show. Sounds like it ruins a persons love fir the craft.
If you keep your ideas to yourself, how would you ever do anything in entertainment? This is a dumb comment. Yeah people try to steal but how could you ever make a movie or a show without telling other people your ideas so they can all make it like any complex production does. You must be like 14 and naive or something because keeping your ideas to yourself will give you literally nothing in life lol.
"If any job, no matter how much it paid, makes you a miserable human being, and changes the person you are, you aren't gonna work there." FANTASTIC quote, and something everyone should take to heart. I have left horrible jobs in my career and never realized how miserable I was until I moved on.
I was on a different Tab looking up how much time is left on Joe's spotify deal and my Speaker went nuts with Jim screaming that shit. I love you Jim but FFS bring it down a notch Jim.
He has always come across as such a down to earth guy. He’s likely pushed to an unreal stress level - heard him say on his podcast his beloved wife is battling some scary health issues. love him so much as a comedian and who he seems to be as a person.
Listen to any of his stories on his family and father on O&A, Breuer is probably THE best storyteller on that show, if not, one of the best, and doesn't shy away from most things either, tells it pretty much like it is, he's a very good dude.👍
@@johnabillz4457 that's cool, your dad's a lucky guy 😁I'm going to one of Breuer's show this year hopefully,if I can find time, been watching him since his SNL days, very funny then and very funny now, one of the very few celebrities I look up to 👍
Great insight into why SNL went from being a life-long favourite into something I can't stomach. I am going to watch more Jim Breuer stuff. Very good artist and hilarious.
Had the pleasure seeing Jim live a few years back. Dude did a skit about bringing his family on an African safari and he was doing all the animal noises and how freaked out they were. Shit had my and my wife dying.
I actually went to Dan Gables wresting camp when I was 10. Him, Tom, and Terry Brands were awesome coaches. Not only did it make me a better wrestler it gave me good fundamentals and a lot of discipline that I still use in every aspect of my life. Really cool to see him on Joe’s podcast.
Jim Breuer endured the toxicity of SNL, and gave the world Goat Boy. We are forever indebted to you Jim. When it comes to stand up, he is legit the G.O.A.T
When Breuer was one of the funniest dudes on SNL back in the day. I taught myself how to do Goat Boy as a twelve year old. When I took an improv class twenty years later and we were animals I let out his goat sound, it crushed every time. Pretty sure I owe him royalties on those laughs.
I love how he's trying to be nice and not name names in the story about how somebody stole his sketch, and then from the impressions you can clearly tell it's Kattan ;')
He refused to detach himself from being a loving human being. That's what it takes to make it in the fame game. The higher up, the more miserable they become. Much love and respect to Jim! I just watched his other JR appearances and yeah, he's just a good human being with a good logical head on his shoulders.
If you're ever driving or just have some time to yourself, you can the absolute best Breuer stories are of him on Opie and Anthony, ones called Pizza Man (about his mafioso neighbor) the and his crazy elderly mother secretly abusing his father who had dementia, whom had to move into Jim's house whilst his mom lived alone but had like day nurses /maids over. Sounds dark but Jim's so funny and has a heart of gold.
Jim is not only really funny, but also just a really nice guy. It's not often that you get that combination. Usually when someone is really funny it is because they have serious boundary issues.
One of my favorite things about Joe is that he’s a good friend to his friends. He had so much respect for Phil and he makes sure to keep his memory alive with his audience. A true friend.

I remember when Jim was on SNL. Goat boy, in my opinion, is the absolute most hilarious skit/s I've ever seen. The "free drinks at the bar" story, whether true or not, is pure comedy genius. Between SNL, Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, and Price is Right which one has been on TV the longest? Does anyone wanna take a guess at when will SNL end if it ever does end.
I never knew this about Jim. I photographed him when he was on Sirus and he was really great to me. I was in the studio with him while he was taping his talk show with his 2 co-stars and it was a great experience thanks to Jim.
Always loved Jim. He seems like that kickass coworker that makes a place better just because he works there, and then you get really sad when he leaves.
I used to love SNL, but haven’t watched it in years. I never had any idea that writers had so much pull there. Jim is hilarious, went see him perform locally a few years back. Was a great show!
Yeah, I was under the impression the cast wrote most of their own skits and made up their characters as well. That the writers were there to tidy up the loose ends, right?
I got a borderline panic attack listening to Jim. I know what it’s like to be in a toxic workplace. It’s agitating just listening to and knowing that feeling.
That sucks. Is that usually with work thats competitive? I'm scared of having a job like that because I'm so sensitive lmao I would probably cry everyday. I've always just kept to myself, been cordial but thats it and it seems to work against me if I want to "climb the ladder"
Just listening to how they treated him was very well said . I have been treated like I didn't matter while ppl were getting credit for my work. It's an insult to know what they're doing, yet they try to hide it or act like you're crazy. They will rip you up and make you out to be crazy, like they've done so many times before.
Well what do you want him to do, stop the guy and tell him to calm down? He let's his guests express themselves how they want to and he reacts as respectful as he can. But who the fuck am I? Lol

To me, it goes back to Tina Fey pushed up the ladder while an NBC big shot bullied Norm out of SNL over OJ Simpson jokes. It's always been political on SNL. Chevy Chase admitted they were all liberals using the show politically, actually trying to affect real-world outcomes in US elections. He mocked the nonsense obsession they had in destroying Sarah Palin, where the motives were obvious. These aren't nice people. This is also New York, so the scummy elitism is off the scale.
always thought he was ok, but HUGE fan now! has the balls to speak honestly in this day & age. hope more & more celebrities see that there’s a huge market for real comedy & patriotic normal entertainment !
That culture is top down. Whenever I have seen people lose their shit at work it's always been in a toxic environment that is encouraged by the boss or upper management. Never happens in a happy workforce with a mature, good boss.
Nothing is ever done about it either, because no one ever questions why the person blew up. Even when the person is a long term employee, with no history of disciplinary problem, or it happens with multiple people in a short amount of time.
My theory about Lorne is he doesn't lead not because that's a clever strategy but because he doesn't have a talent for leading. Met Chevy, Dan, etc. at the right time.
Jim Breuer is THE MAN. He just did a show at the comedy club that I work at and gave THE BEST message about not listening to the news and just love and support another.
Breuer is one of the all time greats right up there with Norm and Sam Kinison. Best of all he just revealed he will refuse to perform at any venue that tries to enforce the tyrannical vaccine mandate! Hell yeah!!!
Breuer is raw in this one, but it’s what we get from the candy store on this Rogan Experience, …lots of goodies. This segment tells us that being a comedian is still work n not a world of jokes & laughter behind closed doors when I thought off stage the comic still continues. It’s just what I was used to seeing on stage thinking it carries over in the back rooms. JRE great show! Very real from a human side of things
Shout out to Jim’s wife, you know how many women or men would just blame their significant other for being miserable cause of a job and letting it ruin them as a person
They both sound like good people. She was understanding and talked through her concerns, and he quit chasing that start to listen to her while he was at his most angry and bitter. Sounds like a great marriage.

I used to smoke weed like it was going out of fashion but stopped abruptly as it wasn't enjoyable anymore but after six months I came out of the weed-bubble and I now think more coherently and positively.
In 2011 I picked up some part time hours on nights and weekends at one of those pop up Halloween stores and Jim came in with his daughter and was super friendly and respectful of people talking to him and asking him questions! Really down to earth human being! He’s too nice for hollyweird!
I'm sure it's always been like that. You're in a business with tons of individuals who have giant egos, then there's favoritism and kissing ass. I had to deal with the same shit in college when I majored in art, it was garbage. Most businesses environments are the same, especially when it comes to creative decisions and projects.

@@aus-li and that's why media hate youtubers and social media creators, and try to show them that the next step over social media is Hollywood or Mainstream media, at the end all is BS.
I agree. I personally can't stand it when people do this ish in front of me. Joe held it together well considering the confined space, volume, and his own hot head. It's transparent tough-guy bravado with a captive audience and it's gross. I love Jim, feel his pain from the story, but still, this is insane and rude especially while they're mic'ed. In the end, you are screaming at the wrong person and you probably didn't even yell that loud when you wanted to, so quit your bs and maybe smoke more weed than you do.
Yea I remember him telling that story. Dana Carvey told a story about developing a character based of Lauren Michael’s, which Mike Myers was present and Myers used that character in Austin Powers. Which became to be known as Dr. Evil. Dana still holds a small grudge about it.
I only watched SNL in the beginning so i do not know the newer cast members.. The name Jim Breuer is familiar but now I'll know his face. Love he thinks for himself!
You also keep getting the daily notifications that Spotify has deemed old episodes now acceptable to watch again? Are there any seriously die hard fans who have put in the effort to see if anything has been edited out of these "new" episodes?
Harold Ramis had a chance to work on SNL. When he saw the environment, he didn't want anything to do with it. Crazy hours, drugs, the competition. He head wrote SCTV. The essence of great comedy is collaboration, not competition.
I just so happen to be working a job right now that is making me an absolute miserable son of a bitch, but the money is better than any of my other current opportunities. I am not a celeb comedian, this job is in the service industry, but still I think I really needed to hear that perspective. Working around bitter, negative people, no matter what the profession, eventually turns you into a bitter, negative person. It's absolutely miserable.
Just keep your eyes peeled for a better opportunity. It will happen and when it does, you'll leave those wretched miserable co-workers behind and they'll hate you for it.

Mucho love to Jim and please keep bringing your comedy to fans everywhere!
Very enlightening interview, I had no idea there were so many backstabbers, kind of reminds me of my job in Civil Service. I haven't watched SNL since the late 70's, after the original lineup left it just didn't have the same impact for me. I've watch skits here & there, but never on a regular basis. So glad Jim moved on & found some peace of mind.

Saw him in Denver like 7 years ago. Yeah I laughed so hard too. Dude is so funny at stand up!
I love Jim. He always looks like he is one bong rip away from puking and passing out.
I never knew Jim had that level of aggression and anger. Makes me like him even more than I already did which I didn't think was possible.
I saw Jim live and it was hysterical! You’re watching him, and you’re like, “He has got the whole magilla figured out!!!” and within 2 seconds, you’re thinking “This is the most hysterically unhinged kaaa-RAZY guy I EVER saw!” I think he’s one of the most underrated comic geniuses out there!
Watch Jim's Somebody Had to Say it on RUclips
@@LoveQuestWithLisaConcepcion Thanks I'll check that out. 👍
If you haven't watched SNL since the 70s, how do you know of Jim Breuer? He kind of faded from the spotlight after SNL.
It was Kattan that stole the bit- on a Howard Stern interview from years ago Kattan says Breuer "thought I stole a bit from him"
What's the skit?
@@showmethedammovie He says the premise in this interview
Was wondering who the person he was referring to.. holy cow Kattan, really??
I hope I'm wrong but the voice impersonation he did sounded like David Spade to me.
@@rosswalther2538 I thought the exact same thing at first but then I saw Kattan's Stern interview- it was him
“This is why my wife’s a powerhouse. When you find someone who don’t give a shit about the industry, and they only care about you. . . I’ll never forget: she goes, “Why don’t you just quit?” ✊💪🤙 (5:00-ish)
That part stuck out to me too. The industry can be very toxic, period. To have someone able to be there for you, see when you cant, to help level or pull you out - invaluable.
Is your avatar nasim pedrad? Love her
@@coreyperdue37 that’s funny - I’ve never actually heard of her! But I looked her up and she seems cool. No, that’s just me. 🙃
My wife is like that, i lucked out so much
"Behind every great man is a great woman with a leash on her mans neck"
omg, I love Jim, man, and I've been watching the guy for quite some time and he's so chill and to bring this dude on the brink of violence is something...
