    I think avoiding poor matches by maintaining a clear mindset to find ways to win is one of the major keys to success at the highest level. No one plays at a high percentage of their potential in a match every time. That's something I certainly have trouble with, as well, particularly against a pusher...

    This is a super encouraging video to watch. Thanks for taking us through a constructive look at a rough day. It's interesting you mentioned feeling like the net was a mile away shifting indoors. I live in a cold area and spend long parts of the year indoors and it is always hard transitioning between indoors and outdoors. Going from indoors to outdoors feels like I have to tighten up to keep things under control, outdoors to indoors feels like I have to work hard to keep things in depth. Crazy how our eyes trick our bodies like that.

    Followed you live at ITF and was pulling for you. Dude, just one match as you know happens to everyone. I'm guessing your 3 hour plus match from the day before was very draining and not something you've had regular experience with recently. M25s have a higher caliber of player than the 15s (typically) as well. Shoot, you have just started your comeback and already won a futures tourney and are back to being ATP ranked! Amazing work in a few short months. Having said that, looking forward to your match comments as I'm guessing Cash is a player that you would typically beat. Great channel enjoying vicariously watching your journey!

    Hey Karue - thanks for the great and thoughtful recap. It can’t be easy to be so vulnerable and honest about your performance especially cuz you’ve been kicking ass so much lately! I think Sabalenka said, “you’re either winning or learning”. Good luck on the next one.

    Its crazy that this happens at all levels. Thanks for sharing this, you have no idea how it helped me mentally to watch this, just to know Karue even goes through bad days. This is a reminder we're all human and we all have bad days. In the days of instagram and linkedin where everyone just post their success, no one posts their bad days.
    I'm going through job interviews and feel interviews and tennis matches have a lot of in common. Watching this helped me to relax before the interview, because I realized you cant control having a bad day. Just get back up and do it again. Same as tennis matches.

    You’re disappointed and we’re disappointed for you, but love how you started the video, awesome that you can poke some fun at the experience. Really appreciate your frankness about everything, especially letting the bad calls bother you. I’m a much lower level and lost my last match because I let my opponent’s unsporting attempts to hinder and distract annoy me. Glad I’m not the only one who has those focus issues at times.

    Great breakdown Karue, we learn much more from our losses than we do our victories. I tend to get so much more internal development from losing, and much more external development from winning.
    Win or lose, it's developing an aspect of our lives that is required to move forward into the next level.

    I remember an interview with a top professional in another competitive sports (Go aka "Cinese chess"). The journalist asked: "Why do like Go so much?" to which he responded: "I HATE Go". Being a pro is not necessarily boosting your love for the game. :)

    That out serve call was pretty wild! Def is tough to deal with especially in a crucial point/game.
    Good insights and thanks for sharing!
    One question: in general- If you could put a number 0-10. How aggressive are you mentally planning to hit when you’re returning second serves?

    RF once said at IW after a tough win against Borna Coric, "Some days nothing feels right, and just hitting the middle of the court is a win". In that match he was playing first match in the day session, I think, unusual for him. The challenge is recognizing the situation and making those adjustments in real time. You looked a little flat Karue, not quite your usual. Give yourself a break, Robert played awesome, and some days are tough at the office!

    Cheers for this video! Win or lose, your viewers and I always learn from your experiences. The serve is very much like golf. Just the littlest mechanical movement can *uck up the swing. Usually it's unconscious. TigerWoods says it's important to know what you think you're doing is what you're actually doing. I.e. the conscious must match what the unconscious is doing.

  • @fnecessity
    @fnecessity 10 месяцев назад

    Weird timing this. I played my third league match and couldnt finish it because of a right pec injury! Without the first serve its really difficult to win points especially when you keep feeling you have a mountain to climb the moment it comes back on return. 0-6 i lost that first set. And had to stop because injury was getting worse. Will resume the match with ice, rest and stretch cycle. Luckily I can take a positive by knowing what my opponents strengths and weaknesses are. The rest is down to train and execute. Onwards and upwards Karue. We've got this 💪

    Hi Karue, you probably don't remember me, I wrote you like a year ago here in the comments under another video that I had a possibility to be a coach of a certain sponsored girl. You told me to go for it, so I did :-) We started together when she was around 1000, and now she is almost 500 now, so yeah, progress is there. Recently she played very close matches against girls inside top150 (in the end she lost both of them) but in certain stages of the match, she was even better than them. What caught my attention here are the words from the end of the video, when you talk about shifting the pressure to the other side of the court, but that you can't reveal all your secrets etc. That´s such a shame because I think that´s exactly what my girl needs against these higher-ranked opponents. Usually, she loses just because the pressure they've been creating throughout the match is just too much for her in the end and she just can't sustain it, especially in the deciding sets. I am trying to figure it out on my own how to shift the pressure, but maybe my knowledge is just too shallow. Is there any possibility to just give me a hint, push me a little bit?
    Thanks a lot, good luck next year!
    Tomas

    One tip (for amateurs) to find your serve again is to really slow everything down. As if you're serving in slow motion. Stand inside the baseline if needed. Then slowly build up the pace and move back. Obviously only recommended to do this in practice between matches. But it eventually helps you get out of a rut and build confidence again.

    I asked ChatGPT why you lost, and this was the answer:
    The color of an object is determined by the wavelength of light that it reflects or emits. Red light has a very long wavelength, which means it has less energy. This is why a bright object can cause eye strain. An extremely large, red and bright object viewed continuously and particularly for more than 10 minutes can cause extreme eye strain, eye floaters, and a phenomenon known as eye to brain/body disconnect. It is very likely that somewhere between your eyeballs and your brain, something went wrong.
    If there is a disconnect, what we see and what we think we see don’t match up. Not only is that disorienting in a cognitive way, disrupting our ability to ‘trust what we see’, but it can also create other physical issues as well.
    Also, your opponent may have been more used to playing in that extremely red environment, allowing him to be unaffected by it, causing minimal negative effects, and allowing him to play virtually unscathed.

    • @audiopluginz6126
      @audiopluginz6126 10 месяцев назад

      ChatGPT Response continued:
      The red color could also make the player more distracted and irritated, as red is a stimulating and attention-grabbing color that can increase blood pressure and heart rate. This could impair the player’s concentration and accuracy, especially if they are prone to frustration and anger.
      The brightness of the court could make it harder for the player to see the ball, as the contrast between the yellow ball and the red court might not be enough to distinguish the ball clearly. This could affect the player’s timing and reaction, especially if they have poor eyesight or are sensitive to light.
