In reference to the two hoses that you took apart in the beginning a video. I need the hose with a 90° on it. But I can’t figure which one to buy. Any idea which one that is? Great video
Great question. Pelican Parts says about 5.2 quarts, but who the heck knows for sure? Mini wants you to take your car to the shop for everything. In any case, I got 5 quarts out so that was good enough for me. If you do the coolant change yourself and get 5 quarts out, maybe just do the next change at an earlier interval. Best of luck to you!
@@IFixedIt22 thanks. I had some weird yellow coolant from the mechanic that I discovered last week and wanted it completely removed before refilling with the blue euro coolant. Anyways, I flushed it a few times, refilled with blue, drove it around, drained, refilled and it's looking good now. Mini operates a lot better now. ;)
Your approach with the Motive Bleeder is absolute genius. And I would never guess that bleeder screw is down there. You don't know if the Countryman is the same by any chance do you (R60)? Thanks for this great video.
Thank you for video do you have to do this to your Mini Cooper? Can you just suck out coolant reservoir and just put new one without going underneath and taking everything apart
If I remember correctly, they use so-called "lifetime" coolant. And the automatic transmission fluid is "lifetime" fluid. My opinion about that is the fluids will last long enough for the warranty to expire, then it may or may not cause problems for your vehicle. When I think about how hot coolant gets, and it's function for the engine, it is really cheap insurance to replace it completely at 3-4 years or 50,000 miles. I think sucking it out and replacing what you can is definitely better than not changing it at all, maybe just do it more often. Best of luck to you!
I replaced the coolant again and used your suggestion, and most of the coolant came out without pressure! I still blew air through it to make sure, but I'm confident you can simply drain after opening the bleeder. Thanks for your brain power!
@@IFixedIt22 Cool. I was just wondering, how come you went with Long Life for your Cooper, instead of Global Lifetime again? Global Lifetime probably won't need to be changed ever again for the life of the car, a nice thing considering it's not the easiest job on these.
Hi. I need to change the thermostat housing as the thermostat is stuck closed, but also need to flush the system, as the previous owner put red coolant instead of blue. Do you recommend to do the flush with the old thermostat housing in place, or do the flush after I change the housing ? Thanks in advance.
I would replace the housing first, then perform the flush and refill. When you remove the housing, a bunch of coolant comes out. I just replaced the housing a couple months ago because it had a tiny leak. Best of luck to you!
This is the best Mini Cooper coolant change video on RUclips, hands down.
Thanks 👍
Is it a full coolant change though? It's just a drain and fill. Correct me if I'm wrong
Honestly this is the best video even those mini guys who mod did not do as straight forwar, very detailed verbally, not leaving out important parts.
Thanks for the feedback!

Not sure. Best of luck to you.
How do you get the remaining coolant out of the engine block?

Sorry, I don't know about the Countryman. Good luck to you!

@@IFixedIt22 thank you so much for replying & video!
Thanks for the video. Could you have avoided using an air compressor to blow out the coolant by opening the bleeder prior to draining?
Good idea! I'll try it next time and see if it works! Thanks!
So if I open the bleed skrew before I do the drain at the bottom I won’t need any compressor?? Should all just drain properly right?

Great video! I noticed at the end you used Peak Global Lifetime to top off. How come you didn't use Global for the entire job?
If I remember correctly, I had half gallon left over from my mother-in-law's Mini Cooper.

I just blew it out with my mouth 😂😂😂
Put an old shirt over it🤣
Great video thank you! Do you have a link for the brake bleeder pump?
Sorry, I don't. I ordered it from Amazon. Good luck!
