I have tried Ostrich, Alligator , Kangaroo Deer, Alpaca and of course duck. I have an interest in trying new meats if I come across them. I understand water buffalo milk is very creamy so you may want to try it. There are people who use it to make ice-cream.

@@DaydreamersBarn traditionally if we have lamb meat we have mint sauce ( the herb; mint) with it. Obviously it is personal choice and taste, but it is worth trying it. ( I love it) Take Care.
I was having a similar thought/chat with a friend at work he said its because sheep breed best as free range animals, no one has perfected in door sheep farming/rearing, so its not profitable for big producers, his thoughts...... not necessarily fact?!
Thanks for appreciating our English countryside. I Live in Lancashire and that is beautiful country and ancient farms and history everywhere. If you ever get the chance to visit it you won’t be disappointed
Yes, we love our time exploring here. We will definitely be checking it out. Thank you for your time and kindness. Hope you have a wonderful day! Cheers 🤍 Jess & family x
Yeah I'm also in Lancashire, north West England, and we don't see many Americans in the north unless it's Manchester or Liverpool city's, but we do have great countryside up here with many old buildings, ps I love americans👍😁🏴🇺🇸
@@frankypolglish I agree, Americans have a thirst for knowledge and education that brits don’t have. Americans ask questions when they don’t know something and risk looking silly. Brits arrogantly think they know it all already or just are not interested to find out. Love peculiarlyhookedonpendle
👍 very many lovely villages all over rural England - but in different parts of England they will look very different, ie differently lovely! (and ditto for the rest of the of the UK).
💯 agree with you, friend! Always someone new to see and experience. We appreciate your support and hope you have a lovely week ahead! Cheers 🤍 Jess & family x
It is a totally different landscape in the summer, everything is green and fresh looking. Hopefully you have had a wonderful time. Thoroughly enjoyed watching your video, thank you.
Friend, I can only imagine it was breathtaking during the winter. So I can only imagine summer is just top-notch! We appreciate you coming along with us for this wonderful adventure. Thank you for your kindness and time. Hope you have a lovely day! Cheers 🤍 Jess & family x
Special place in my heart, Olney. My mother was born there, still have only a couple of relatives still in the village. The high street as well as long is wider than most other villages. I can remember when there were no houses beyond Moores Hill on the Yardley Road out of Olney. Best childhood memories visiting my grandparents dozens of times.
I'm actually impressed you managed to drive on the wrong side of the vehicle, on the wrong side of the road all whilst driving a manual transmission. I take my hat off to you.
It's definitely not the easiest, but we love the cool experience! It took us a little time to adjust. Both Chris and I enjoy driving a manual transmission over here, giving us more of situational awareness. Thank you for your comment and time watching. Cheers 🤍 Jess & Chris x
Hi folks, nice little drive there. I've often wondered why lamb is so expensive here seeing as the countryside seems to be full of them. I know I'm in the minority here but I love the liver, much nicer than calfs or pigs in my opinion. Liver and onions with gravy is an old British classic, great with mashed potatoes.
You’re not even paying the full price for lamb. It’s sold at a substantial loss (around 20%) by most supermarkets. I don’t know the exact reason it’s so expensive, but most meat is sold at a loss in the UK. The only meats that make a profit for supermarkets are chicken and some fish (but even then the margin is razor thin). I can speculate a little about the main factors from my experience with poultry supply chains. The largest portion of the cost of a meat are feed additives (think vitamins and minerals), and vaccinations. Sheep are particularly prone to disease, so probably require more of both of these. There may also be specification issues if sheep tend to have a greater range of sizes. That can lead to a lot of wastage because processing machines aren’t very flexible (one of the things that makes chicken so cheap is that they can be grown very uniformly, and only take a few weeks to go from chick to fully grown, which massively helps with demand prediction and so choosing slaughter dates).
Got some lambs liver from an individual butcher based at a nursery, very nice with onions and gravy.I have Frikadellen once a week ,a pork burger from Germany (LIDlL)very nice with fried onions and grated cheese melted in between a burger bap.
Maybe because the sheep need to be outside to graze, and because they are small there is not as much meat as there is on a bullock. Plus we get the bulk of our milk from the cow. With sheep we only get the meat. For some reason we don't produce wool anymore. I live in an area which has been pivotal for wool production for at least 2000 years. The sheep that brought wealth here was the Cotswold Lion with thick thick fleeces. Now the sheep in the fields behind me are Textels which I think are more like pigs with snouty noses and grunty baas and they have been bred for meat. Their wool is not thick.
Oh, we live here in the UK for now, thankfully. Will be returning very soon to explore even more. Thank you for your kindness. Have a lovely day! Cheers 🤍 Jess & family x
As you said the UK in winter can be cloudy and quite dull due to the winter sun light but I've always seen it to have a almost apocalyptic stark beauty. The winter sky can be very striking sometimes with dark bands of clouds which can break producing a intense brightness which catches your eye because you've not seen it as regularly as the rest of the year. Lamb when lean makes a fantastic slow cooked curry.
We absolutely love the sky over here. We truly appreciate those beautiful sunny days! Thank you so much for watching. We appreciate you! Have a lovely week ahead. Cheers 🤍 Jess & family x
“Apocalyptic stark beauty”…lovely turn of phrase, and quite descriptive. I love the winters in East Anglia (especially around the Broads, it has a certain quality
Thank you. I work nights and sometimes walk home on a Sunday morning feeling like the sky is almost showing off just for me. I've walked up the middle of main roads without a soul to be seen or heard, not a car a person, cat or dog anywhere thinking is anyone else seeing this. It sometimes looks alien, like it shouldn't be there and i stand in the middle of the road looking around trying to catch someone's eye as if to say "yes I've seen it too". Weird.
This is so funny. Your video popped up randomly. My Nan grew up in a village called Harrold, near Turvey. I’ve driven through there and Lavendon so many times. How random. 😊

I think we Brits sometimes forget that we live in such a beautiful place. Sure there are some run down towns and cities (a lot of them actually) but the villages in the countryside are amazing to visit. Highly recommend you visit the Peak District or better yet, Northumberland (where I come from).

There are stone walls around fields in parts of New England (eg Shawshank Redemption). If you are ploughing a field with oxen you do not want to carry the stones too far. Once built, which is a winter job when nothing else to do, they require less maintenance than hedges that require laying every couple of years. Venison is good. Had pigeon from a wood in the countryside once, too gamey for me.

Here in the UK I grew up eating the big three (B, L and P) plus chicken and turkey, but we also ate offal, the liver, kidneys, hearts of lamb, tongues of beef and my mother made brawn from a pigs head. Some people eat brains, chitterlings, lights and tripe which are all bits of the insides. Oh, black pudding is good. I'm not partial to these, but I do like stuffed lambs hearts and liver with bacon and onions. My father had farming clients and brought home pheasant and partridge, and we also ate rabbit regularly. I still get the odd pheasant given to me, and I have to pluck and draw them myself. I do the plucking outside. It's hard to get hold of a rabbit nowadays but sometimes I get them. My mother used to make a stew with bacon and white parsley sauce. I really like it, there were a lot of bones though but I like biology and learned all the names of each one as I ate! I do a French recipe with prunes and apricots and brandy. It's really good. (the recipe works with chicken as well). I travelled a lot and ate horse in France, Water Buffalo in Nepal, Kangaroo in Australia where I lived for a while. Back here during the BSE crisis, we ate Ostrich instead. My son and a friend cooked and ate an entire sheep's heat, brains included. He seems OK but went vegetarian for quite a few years afterwards!

Hiya friend! We're going to definitely give goats milk a try. We're just not looking at having dairy goats on the small holding when we return to the US. That's just a thought for right now. A nice trip out this morning and some way off your normal routes. Can't say I've ever been tempted to try sheep products apart from lamb. I do suggest that you try venison. It is a strong tasting meat, very fat free and tasty. There are many places of interest near your destination today. The Shuttleworth Collection at Old Warden is an outstanding museum of planes mainly pre WW2. Theres a nice garden and cafe attached as well. Usually some light aircraft flying. Sorry not to see the dogs "going to the bathroom". A quaint American expression which always amuses me! Not far from me in Peterborough is a brilliant farm shop and cafe ( Moor farm) where the toilets are actually signed 'rest rooms'! TC x
Love it, Captain Torch! Thanks for the wonderful information and recommendation! We will have to check out that farm shop. Chris and I love Venison! We are definitely going to be hunting once we return to the US to stock up on Venison. Here in the UK, around every corner, there is something new. And exciting to explore, and we love it! The village where you mentioned the corner store looks a lot like Abbotsbury in West Dorset. If you go to it on Google Earth you'll see what I mean. It's hardly changed in hundreds of years, with a lot of the rooves still being thatched. Even the tarmaced roads have hardly changed in at least 60 years.

There seems to be many of my fellow Brits in this comments section that are surprised that some Americans have never even seen a sheep and have definitely never tried lamb or mutton before. So I have some stats to demonstrate why I believe this is the case and they are truly astonishing. In the US there is around 336 million humans and around 5.3 million sheep. In the UK there is around 68 million humans and around 33 million sheep. So the UK has 1/5th the human population of the US but we have 6x the number of sheep. Don't forget that here in the UK we have a long long association with sheep that goes back many hundreds of years. We have traded sheep and their wool, eaten lamb and mutton for all that time too. There are whole towns here in the UK that owe their existence to the sheep and wool trade such as the traders using the profits to build beautiful local churches that still stand today.
During the middle ages England was a wealthy country because we produced the best wool in Europe. If I remember correctly we exported it as a sort of blanket, it was then sold at market (Bruges?) and made into all sorts of wooden garments.
Thank you so much for the wonderful information! It is definitely more common here than in the US. It will be a staple in our home from now on. Thank you for your time and support. Hope you have a wonderful Friday! Cheers 🤍 Jess & family x
I've had aligator and ostrich in Manchester, snails and frogs legs when living in France. You can also get Kangaroo at Australian themed restaurants here, as well as wild boar sausages, goat stew/curry is popular too and goose and duck are also easily available in England. Under a year old it's Lamb, over a year old it's Mutton, you have to cook it it slower, just as good as Lamb makes good stews. This was very helpful as my wife and I are trying to decide if we want to drive and rent a car when we go for our England trip. Are the curvy arrows in the middle of the road indicators that it is ok to pass? Also is England this green most of the winter? Great vid thanks! Don't worry about the camera this was very informative for me. Cheers
The arrows on the road that curve inwards are to warn you to get into your lane if you are overtaking. There is probably a blind bend ahead or other restrictions. You can overtake anywhere provided it is safe to do so and you do not cross any sold line between the lanes. Solid lines are to be treated as a brick wall. That doesn't stop some idiots from crossing into the oncoming lane, but it is illegal. Overtaking on the brow of a hill is illegal, for obvious reasons, with or without the solid lines. You will see various speed warnings, either on the road or signed. The flashing speed sign lets you know whether or not you are over or under the limit and are not speed cameras, more advisory. You get a smiley face if you are under the limit. The white circle with a black cross is the national speed limit sign, 60mph on country B roads. And yes, the fields are green during the winter unless covered in snow. Summer fields will be green or yellow from rape seed but if we have a drought they will turn brown until the first rain.
James "the Highway Code" www.gov.uk/guidance/the-highway-code It will show you our Road rules i.e. permissible speeds, signs, road markings etc You can even take free tests on some sites. many counties are introducing speed restrictions in places ie 20 MPH. Wales has introduces 20MPH throughout the country.

@@DaydreamersBarn You can get it commercially. From the shop in the UK. I teaspoon it out in a cup then add more malt vinegar . Before putting on the lamb it's 😋😋😋 with roast potatoes. Try it. both malt vinegar and mint sauce are commercially available. Google them
Meat sheep start as Lamb, then become Hogget and finally Mutton. You have to seek out Hogget and Mutton though and maybe order from a specialist farm with a slaughterhouse, or order from a traditional butcher.

I have not tried sheep's milk but always buy whole goat's milk from Sainsbury's which I much prefer to cow's milk. Great for making flat white coffee's at home. Quick tip: If you go to France,or worse, Italy, do NOT try to get what Americans, very falsely in my view, call 'coffee' ! As they will simply call for the guillotine to be put back in service! And very rightly so, in my opinion, as American 'coffee' is an offence against God and man! :-0

That is a interesting fact. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers, Chris and Jess.
There’s a goat farm at Avebury in Wiltshire. There’s a cafe and kids can feed the goats.Goat milk and meat is for sale on site.
Oh, I have now Googled it's location! I'm looking forward to checking it out. Thank you for your comment. Have a good day. Cheers 🤍 Jess & family x
I have tried Ostrich, Alligator , Kangaroo Deer, Alpaca and of course duck. I have an interest in trying new meats if I come across them. I understand water buffalo milk is very creamy so you may want to try it. There are people who use it to make ice-cream.
Fab, thank you for the insight on Buffalo Milk. It's not something we would have ever thought of. We appreciate your kindness and time. We hope you have a lovely Sunday! Cheers 🤍 Jess & family x

Another enjoyable vid. As a brit it's so surprising that you hadn't eaten lamb before coming to the UK. It's not as if it's even a rare exotic animal.
Thank you for your support. We appreciate you! I know it's so crazy but now we absolutely love lamb. I'm not sure why it's not as big in the US as it is over here. We're not hundred percent sure, but we love it now. Thank you for your time watching and commenting. Hope you have a lovely week ahead. Cheers 🤍 Jess & family x
@@DaydreamersBarn Just to let you know Jess. lamb meat is called lamb, but sheep meat is called mutton.
@nicksykes4575 Thank you. I really appreciate it. I did know, but because this is so new to us, I still forget to call it lamb or mullon. We appreciate your kindness and time. Cheers 🤍 Jess & family x

Wanted you to turn left to Olney, the longest high street in the UK, famous for the ‘pancake race’ on Shrove Tuesday. Beautiful village.
I know but we were not aware! Guess we need to go back... Right. We appreciate your comment and time watching our video.
We appreciate all your comments and insight! We hope you all have a wonderful week ahead. Thank you all for the support! Cheers 🤍 Jess & family x
Many cheeses are made from sheep's milk.
You should have come in the summer and at least had a fair chance of some sunshine.

How random. 😊

There are stone walls around fields in parts of New England (eg Shawshank Redemption). If you are ploughing a field with oxen you do not want to carry the stones too far. Once built, which is a winter job when nothing else to do, they require less maintenance than hedges that require laying every couple of years.

@@RonSeymour1 Thanks Ron!

Yes, the grass is usually green the years round as it's rare to have a drought and snow isn't common and any snow doesn't usually lie for long.

Are you driving automatic or manual? How long have you been in the UK, you used to driving on the left yet?
Both Chris and I only drive manual here. Allows us to appreciate the roads even more. We are comfortable now driving on the left
Will he odd when we have to go back and drive on tue right side. We have been here over a year now. We appreciate your time watching and leaving a comment. Cheers 🤍 Jess & family x

Great video 👍If you want to cater to a specialized customer of dairy products think about Goat milk as well as sheep and mozzarella bull cow's.These animals are good for people who have lactose intolerance etc😊
We're so glad you enjoyed it. Thank you so much for your support and kindness. Will look into your recommendation
We're definitely trying to do different things than the typical American tourist. We want to think outside the box. We hope you have a wonderful week. Cheers 🤍 Jess & family x
Hi sheep meat is called mutton
Older sheep is mutton. Youngest is lamb, then hogget, with mutton 3 years and older.
Thank you for the information! We appreciate your time watching and leaving us this wonderful insight! We hope you have a lovely week ahead. Cheers 🤍 Jess & family x
It is interesting that most people do not even consider other milk as an option. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers, Chris and Jess.
North beds is very nice area
I hundred percent agree with you! I have not found one place that I did not like here. Love exploring and sharing with everyone. Appreciate your time! Cheers 🤍 Jess & family x
Sheep is the animal, the meat is called mutton. However, 'lamb' is used for both the animal and the meat.
Thank you so much for your feedback. We appreciate your time watching. We hope you have a lovely day. Cheers 🤍 Jess & family x
Roast lamb is lovely, there's only one problem... lambs are pets.
Haha, I know I feel horrible, but they're very yummy... Much like a cute chicken, rabbit, or fish. We appreciate your comment, friend! We hope you have a lovely week ahead. Cheers 🤍 Jess & family x
Have you been to the Yorkshire dales, York, the cotswolds, the Lake District?
We have been to Cotswolds but planning on most of the others you listed. We truly appreciate your time watching and commenting! We hope you have a great week ahead. Cheers 🤍 Jess & family x
@@DaydreamersBarn I really miss my drives out in the countryside... So this was a pleasant surprise for me... After a spell of ill health... I haven't driven since mid August last year... But once spring has arrived... I will venture out again if my health issues with my leg starts to improve... My favourite places to visit in the UK are... The Yorkshire Dales... The Lake District... Anglesey North Wales... And Wells-Next-The-Sea On The North Norfolk Coast... It is my absolute favourite place to holiday here in the UK... And i can highly recommend spending some time there... If you're interested in this fabulous place... I'll put a video link about Wells-Next-The-Sea... Right here for you to enjoy. 👍Cheers guys. 🍺 ------------> ruclips.net/video/rHfpzLy8tjE/видео.htmlsi=oSRurJvE4WWJnumV

@@DaydreamersBarn glad your enjoying the countryside and steering around our medieval roads that were old Roman roads and grass tracks around old village boundaries and that were there before the modern roads were built just enjoy next time the Lake District and the highlands of Scotland …
We appreciate your kindness and support! We have a video of our adventures in the Highlands of Scotland. We loved our time there and look forward to exploring even more in Scotland. This beautiful island has so many beautiful places to see and explore. We truly thank you for your time! 🤍 Jess x
You have to be careful of wild muntjac ( deer) especially at night times as they just cross roads and come out of bushes, hedges, gardens. They are a nuisance and can cause thousands of pounds of damage to your car if you hit one. I’m enjoying your video. You drive better than some British people.
Thanks for the kind words. We are aware of the muntjacs....one of us is petrified of them, lol. We have noticed we see them more as seasonal animals, though. Is that accurate? Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers 🍻 Chris and Jess.
Why would you pick the middle of winter to visit England? 😅
We currently live in England and love to explore this beautiful island. We try not to let a weekend go by not learning and experiencing this beautiful country. We appreciate your time watching. Have a lovely weekend. Cheers 🤍 Jess & family x
@@DaydreamersBarn bless you hope you enjoy
Did you ever find out what the surprising animals were?
Unfortunately, no we didn't. We went another way to explore more. Maybe we should go back and see.. it was so cool. Appreciate your time watching and commenting. Hope you have a lovely rest of your week. Cheers 🤍 Jess & family x
@@DaydreamersBarn I've since had a look and there was a house for sale in the village you went through where the description said you could look out on to the neighbouring farm's deer herd. So your guess was right!
No need to apologise for the bumpy ride. Looked like you had a nice family day out.
Thank you, dear friend! We appreciate your support. Hope you have a lovely week ahead! Cheers 🤍 Jess & family x
Goat, rabbit, Hair and Goose is all good meat!

You won’t be driving though the uk with our weather today
Very true! The weather was crazy the past couple of days. Hope you are well. Thank you for your comment and time. Hope you have a lovely day. Cheers 🤍 Jess & family x
Tbh.....I skipped thru most of this. Its normal for me. I know it's not probably aimed at me or Brits in general. I liked seeing the farm etc. BUT how American does your husband look??? He looks like Dale Earnhard! 😁 Hats! You never mentioned hats! Baseball hats/truckers hats, hats in general. Generally not worn often here, but in the States, EVERYBODY wears them! 😁 You love the back roads in the UK and we love the backroads in Merica. We are very similar in looks obviously too. This is not a racist remark but something I've noticed.....we've been a few places stateside. NY, NJ, DE, PA, MD, FL, AL, MS, TX, GA, SC, NC, TN! Done a few roadtrips. Just what I've noticed. NOT racist! Okay.....in Florida, a lot of Hispanics. In Texas, a lot of Mexicans. In Tennessee, everybody was like us! LOL. 😆🇺🇸🏴
We appreciate your time watching what you did. Chris does look somewhat like him, I guess. Thank you for your comment and support. We hope you have a lovely day! Cheers 🤍 Jess & family x
13:55 QUAINT ALERT!!! 🤐
Hi guys. I know that you don't mean it but to most of us Brits the word "Quaint" is rather a demeaning one and can be construed as meaning old fashioned therefore useless and out of touch. Best not to use it too often around us natives, eh? 😉
Sorry AP but certainly not in the West Midlands and East of England where I've spent my 73 years. Here it means old fashioned and endearing, and always has.
I'm Welsh and associate quaint with being nice.
