NEW and STRAIGHT FROM NAMM 2018
What's going on everybody?! SeanPierceJohnson here and it gives me great pleasure to share with you all the brand new Billy Corgan Signature Terz Electric Guitar by Reverend Guitars.
In an era of Extended Range Guitars (ERGs) this Limited Range Guitar (LRG) might be the coolest and most inspiring instrument out there!
A short scale instrument common in the 19th century, this guitar is tuned up a minor third from Standard tuning. So your low and high strings are G's instead of E's.
So much fun! Find more info here: www.reverendgu...
Thanks to Penny at Reverend for setting this up!

You can even tune this little Chap to Open G Terz Tuning (G, D, G, B, D, G) & play Rolling Stones music on it, what it is, is that the bottom 5 strings are the same as the Keith Richards 5 string Open G Tuning & now we have a High G String on the Top which adds a bit more sparkle & clarity. So basically it's like taking your Guitar tuned to Open E & putting a capo on the 3rd Fret.
It's very useful and the Railhammer Pickup really helps work around the issue of the reduced volume of lighter gauge strings by having bigger pole pieces and the Bass strings have rails.
Basically it's an Electrified version of the Martin 5-18 Terz (Mini Parlor) Guitar. Billy Corgan was the guy who rejuvenated the 19th Century Terz Guitar.
There's just something... sublime... about single pickup guitars.
Every single one I have ever played, from dime-store frankenbominations to a truly timeless work of art that a Master Luthier, whom I had the existential pleasure of just listening to him speak for nearly four hours. James Dean cool; I know. Anywho, I digress. ... Single pickup guitars are where it's at. Sweet Buddha I love Reverend Guitars!!!!!
Slim Rhyno is take a full scale, single pickup Billy Corgan Reverend 👍
The more pickups you have on a guitar, the more magnetic pull there is on the strings, which can reduce the sustain and resonance. Triple-humbucker Les Pauls are a good example. It’s quite a subtle difference, but when you compare the sound of one of those to a Les Paul Jr, there’s definitely a more ‘open’ sound coming from the Jr.
I love this Guitar, it's Basically tuned like a Standard Guitar w/ a capo on the 3rd Fret. Terz Guitars actually double as Travel Guitars due to their compact size, and you can also tune this to E Standard Tuning with a set of 13s such as those Thomastik Jazz Swing Mediums (JS113) which have a Slightly lower tension to make playing the Guitar easier.
Surprised there aren’t many reviews of this guitar but at least this one is very informative, even if slightly long at 22 minutes
hard not to make it 22 minutes. this was a fantastic guitar with a lot of potential. thanks for watching
Thanks for doing such a detailed review. I was able to find a used one of these and I wanted to know how versatile the single pickup was. Very impressive ~
The Shiny and Oh So Bright Tour was incredible. The shorter, more intimate venue tour they had just after (that finished up a few months ago), was incredible X10. May be in my top five all time, Queen still being #1.
I saw them in San Diego. I'd never been to a show there but damn, it was an arena show in a small arena so my "nosebleed" seats felt more like mezzanine.
HEY SEAN! love reverend guitars and love both of the BC models [ the first one had two humbuckers] and i love the look of this one pickup model if it came in surf green i would have one by now.REVEREND GUITARS ROCK!!
hi Ben! Thanks for checking out my video! This one definitely has Reverend on my radar and I'd love to check out more in the future. I know they had a couple more models released at NAMM so hopefully we can work something out.
glad you enjoyed my demo and I hope I earned your Sub.
cheers!
Still loving my Terz and BC1 in 2022!
fantastic! still haven't gotten a BC1 but would love one
@@SeanPierceJohnson check out my vids for them played through Billy’s 1998 Diezel from the Machina tour. Sucker rips!
@@spguitar nice! how did you come to acquire that?
@@SeanPierceJohnson he sold some gear on Reverb in 2017. Luckily I was able to get the amp he used at my first show on 5/10/2000. He said he wants to borrow it back for the next SP record after the 33 song one coming up. Can’t wait!
@@spguitar very cool! I’ll hazard a guess that he might be gearing up for overdubs for the Machina reissue. Which I very much am looking forward to
Well done and complete review. Super cool guitar
Thank Poe! I appreciate you check on it out and hope you’ll consider subscribing. Plenty more fun to come.
I have the billy corgan signature. The guitar just wants to run all time.
i really want on...but then again i'd just like ANY reverend
It's a nice reminder that not everyone is after baritones and brutal guitars.
totally!
Every guitar have its function, why limit yourself at one?
I don't even understand baritone guitars :/
Great demo of a cool guitar
Thanks buddy! If you get the chance to...try one! I think you'd dig it
It's a semi-hollow bodied guitar because of some hollowed out areas
Great review! Question, do you think it would be possible to do an alternate tuning with this guitar? Like an open drop D-type?
Todd Michaelsen hey Todd! Thanks for watching. To answer your question: sure, there’s nothing stopping you. But keep in mind you are loosening the string tension considerably. From G down to D you’d be lowering it a 4th. So you’d have to use heavier strings to make up for that. But if you want to try it you can!
Very nice review. This guitar screams "despite of my rage i'm still just a rat in a cage". I love one humbucker guitars.
haha...totally! would love to try a single PUP version of the full-scale version
G&L's have treble bleed ad bass control for a very long time
was not aware of that. amazing that more companies don't offer it. G&L's haven't really been on my radar
SeanPierceJohnson you should really check their guitars!
Their Strat version ( Legacy) really sound sterile but the S500 rocks big time
If they do they don't advertise it on their website very well.
Roberto Machado they call it ptb system.
Cheers for that.
Can you use regular tuning on this guitar?
arthur gan you can but the strong tension will be SUPER loose. You’re basically dropping the tuning down a step and a half, so in order to maintain tension you’ll need to use really heavy strings.
cool guitar! :)
thanks for watching!
Try it out with the gamechanger audioplus
René Moncayo I have neither the guitar nor the pedal. Sooooooo.....🤷♂️
Is it just strung with regular strings?
yep...pretty sure its normal 10-46
I hate demos that are so obviously just trying to sell you the product
Chris Wilson thanks for watching Chris but I’m sorry to tell you your assumption is 100% false. Reverend paid me nothing and didn’t let me keep the guitar. Everything I said was my own thoughts and words and my honest feelings on the guitar.
I’m sorry if you felt my presentation lead you to believe I was “selling” to you...it’s never my intent to sell.
