That intro to spirit in the dark !! Jesus. And that version of Dr Feelgood. Aretha I wish I could have told you in person how great you are.The absolute greatest. I will aways love and revere you.
@@stevenblackwell3899Yes but her European performance were always poor, usually the long flights would dry her throat out and she'd be very hoarse, laryngitis infections etc.. or excessive smoking also, and on the plane top. Even in her prime Aretha had good shows where she soared or bad shows where her top voice was very limited.
Thing about the Queen is what she could do WITH her voice at any range God allowed her on any given day. She can be just as soulful in a Daydreaming mood or as shouty as Respect. She was that special. She was like a queen on a chessboard. She was flexible in her treatment of music.
The back up singers are so beautiful, graceful and elegant here, and their vocals are fantastic - does anyone know who they are? Aretha is superb of course! :) I've found out they are Brenda Bryant, Margaret Branch and Pat Smith - The Sweethearts of Soul. They are sooo good!
@@MrRUclips1Y92 Well prove me wrong then. Show me consitency in her performances with this much energy after the mid 70's. I've seen her 9 times from 1976 to 2015 and not one of them had this much fire. Even her tv appearances. She did a lot of talk/singing with an occasional squall here and there and sometimes not at all. If it werent for these past performances, I wouldnt have known that she had the power of LaBelle. And I cant STAND Patti Labelle before someone says Im a fan of hers but lets be honest. Patti would let you have it ALL the time. Aretha disappointed way more than let us have it. What you want baby I got it was up there then the rest of the song was sang down, The bridge of Chain Of Fools she always talked, Rock Steady she let the BackUps sing the hollaring part, Freeway Of Love, never hit that note after Yeah AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH we got some places to see, Zoomin Who, never hit that top note in the Bridge, and I could go on and on. That ParkWest in Chicago is a prime example of how her performances were mostly.
CLEOPATRA JONES Patti has one speed full throttle that’s it. Aretha on the other hand work the hell out of what she had despite her decline. Cleo do you ever get tired of being a nagging old crow.
@@cleopatrajones2024 But Aretha doesn't need to run up and down, she simply milks her audience with the purest subtlety, not having to go higher than from an A to a B, not having to stretch out if she isn't feeling it. The essence of Aretha is when she is being understated, just simple beautiful singing. I don't care for her voice at this time, she had much more soul in her delivery when she was a big grown women in the 80s and 90s, when she quit the smokes, for me her greatest voice was from 94 to 2012, he 94 to 98 voice was unmatched, her ballad belts were better than they had even been, albeit a mature sound, which gave it more depth.

Is it true that MICK JAGER stopped speaking to ARETHA after She sang "I CAN'T GET NO SATISFACTION"
No
She stopped performing like this in the mid 70's. She became very reserved/boring.
Wrong again
