I have a Motorola (Android) phone that I use primarily as an MP3 music player. On my old iMac, I could just connect with a USB-cable and transfer between my Motorola and iMac to transfer music; but when I bought a new iMac, the iMac would not recognize my Motorola. I downloaded the Android File Transfer app, but Apple won''t allow me to open and use the app because it wasn't downloaded from the Apple App Store. The only Android file transfer apps on the Apple App Store require $$$ (yearly subscription). Your tutorial on how to use an external drive to move files from an iMac to Android is the only "free" solution that worked for me. My Motorola didn't have the same appearance as your Android phone when transferring files so there was a "trial-and-error" learning curve to figure how to do the transfer. So far, so good! THANKS!!!

Press on cancel then go to system settings -> privacy and security, you should see the message telling you why openmtp was blocked. You click here 'open anyway' then open the app again.

It would take FOREVER to select them all individually. In OpenMPT, using shift + click doesn't work for selecting the second end of a group, like it does everywhere else. How can I easily select a large group of photos without having to select them individually? Thank you!

@@PrimalVideo since the time I watched this video, I have been doing this with my new M3 pro MacBook Pro! I think the MacBook should not go to sleep at the time of copying files, else the file transfers, speed will be slow.
I don't see in any of these options, how to transfer text messages. I was able to back them up to Google One but can't figure out how to view on my MacBook. Any ideas? I don't want to restore them to another android phone.

Solutions: Format a usbdisk/ disk to FAT on your pc/computer. Transfer files to from pc/computer to usb/disk. Connect usb/disk to youre phone and transfer to phone

Finder -> Applications -> Right click on Open MTP App and chose open

Solution:
Go to "Applications" in Finder => Hold Command button and right click over the app icon => Click open
Right-click the application and select Open. A different prompt should appear, select the open option again.

Open system settings in mac -> privacy & security, you should see the app you just tried to install, you can now click 'open anyway' button.
Android has currently disabled the 'Android File Transfer' downloads. are there any good alternatives to that???
