Thank you so much for all your videos. You have saved me so much time and headache over the years. Yesterday I threw P0204 and was rattling like hell on the interstate with the emissions service and check engine light coming on. Limped it home. Watched this video. Ordered the part on Amazon and it was here 10am this morning. Two hours later I was done. Hardest part was the fuel line disconnect. I found the trick to be the plastic round disconnects from Napa. Much appreciated Mr farmer. I will buy you many beers should we ever meet one day. Now I have a spare connector with me in the truck at all times.

Hopefully it will be awhile before the next one. Truck is smoother than it's been in a while, I think it's been intermittent but not steady enough for the reduced power thing till this morn. So here we go again!!!! 36 miles after changing number7 plug (C farmer coaching all the way) the truck does the same thing! pulled over on the freeway sat there for a minute (believe small stroke and heart attack all in one) scanned the codes and won't you know it #4 injector bad! 8am in down town Kansas city on the freeway FML. Cleared the codes took the next exit. headed right for the dealership to get a pig tail. (I had ordered one online already for a spare I didn't know when it was going to arrive. Turns out Chevy is cheaper then GMC on parts that are the same.
Watched the this video again thank you!!! I also read some of the comments. based on this I had a plan. I did not pull inner fender well . first step front 10mm , hot pipe ,fuel lines ,rear 10mm remove cover (hardest part of entire job) replace plug reverse order.
So I kind of took it as a challenge when I read that you thought you could do it in and hour. kept my head down (and it was to early for miller lite) 47minutes start to finish. I am pretty sure you could beat that lol.
On a side note I talked to the Diesel mechanic at the dealership. He said replace everyone you can get to when you have it apart. they are all going to fail!
    Thank you again

Just replaced mine, took me less than 2.5 hours including watching this video and a few others. Hardest part was getting the injector cover back in place. Next time it will take less than 2 hours. This video was excellent to show the job start to finish.
Another video that assisted with getting the fuel lines off that I was struggling with - ruclips.net/video/LnFDRwVmDNU/видео.html
Dealer told me it would be under powertrain warranty at first, but when I called to confirm before appointment they realized it wouldn't. Told me 4 labor hours plus part, so about $900 for just the #4 connector.

Kinda burried the lead question, but...My 1st harness failer was #5 and the dealer convinced me I needed to do the injector. Now #4 and since it is the easier side, gonna do the harness repair by myself and see where it gets me. Put a zip tie around each harness and injector, hoping it would help.
Is there really a benefits to reinstallingbrhe foam sound deadener cover? Seems a lotneasier to make the repair without it being there. Also seems likenit wouldn't hold as much heat in that area.

I am in the market for a 3/4 diesel. If I get the duramax it will be a 2019 bc I hear nothing but issues with the 2020+ year models. The 2020+ powerstrokes are a beast. Hard decision. But I keep reading and seeing videos of all the injector and glow plug issues with the duramax. 🤔

    • @CFarmer
      @CFarmer  2 года назад

I'm almost at 400k and the injector connectors have been the most aggrivating issue. Still on original injectors and emissions. Did replace both nox sensors and pinion bearings around 350k miles but that's just my experience. I know guys who've had better luck and worse.

@@CFarmer yeah this will be my first diesel truck. I am a apprentice lineman for a utility company and I want a bigger camper, so I have to get a bigger truck. I currently own a 2021 lariat f150 fx4. Just want to get a good diesel truck that’s going to last and not leave me stranded all the time. So if all that started happening 300k miles I think the duramax might be the one. It’s hard to find a 2020+ powerstroke that’s not over priced. I found a 2019 gmc Denali 4x4 with 45k miles for 61k

I currently have my GMC Duramax lp5 at Carl Black dealership in Orlando Florida right service advisor explain to me that GM knows they have faulty parts and acknowledges the issue and has a new part in part number but I still have to pay for the repair I just ran out of warranty 2000 miles so a Duramax diesel with 170,000 mi on it with this and I believe he said the repair was anywhere from$2,000 to $2,500.00 this shows the greed of GM if you know you have a bad part then do the right thing and recall it and fix it for free why should the cost of repair for bad part fall on the consumer. We need a class action lawsuit against GM for this issue

I bought a 2020 GMC Denali HD and at 60k miles now nothing but problems. Is 1st exhaust heater... Then injector, 4 days later injector harness... $1900 for the harness and weeks to be delivered they say.... The exhaust heater took 6 weeks to be delivered.as a small contractor this truck is causing me to lose so many jobs.. The radio or GPS unit stopped working, the electric all went completely dead in the truck completely draining both batteries. The truck was overheating before. I mean non stop problems since day one.. GM has tried to help a little i guess but I need a buy back, two years of stress and problems is what they sold me.. I've had all of the Duramax trucks but this L5P is something to stay away from.

I feel like I've had pretty good luck out of mine but I've heard of others with horror stories and others with over 500k on them. A few months ago someone sent me the link to the wiring harness. It was 2 pieces, one for each side on GM Parts warehouse.com. was around $250. Each. I'll try to send the link if i can find it but i have to wonder if dealer isn't taking advantage.i know a guy who just spent over $6500. At dealer getting new injectors and all connectors and was still having same issue. Took to a reputable diesel shop and they swear it's in the transmission. Here is a complete wiring harness for the l5P . There are 2 different harnesses listed but both same price
      www.gmpartswarehouse.com/oem-parts/gm-engine-wiring-harness-84465425?c=bD0xMiZuPVNlYXJjaCBSZXN1bHRzJmE9Z21jJm89c2llcnJhLTI1MDAtaGQmeT0yMDE5JnQ9ZGVuYWxpJmU9Ni02bC12OC1kaWVzZWw%3D
I'd stay away from that dealer

Just Broke down with code P0204 in Morrilton,Ar. Second time in less than 3 months that I get this code, first time I paid $600 to get injector replaced now I get to this on my own. Hopefully it is just the pigtail. How did you know it would be the pigtail though?
