If these guys get put into the Monsterverse, I want them to look like the original film. Upright stance, bumpy scales, snake-like tail. It gives a far more imposing effect than the V-Rex.
The 2005 novel meat-eater is my favorite look of the carnivore! Thanks to Wikizilla for the video. I had been wondering if it was a old look of the V-Rex or if it was just a Tyrannosaurus Rex.
Personally, I'm perfectly fine with calling movie dinosaurs 'kaiju' since they have more in common with them than with their real life counterparts
But I understand why you use 'kyoryu' instead
I agree. Expect that means jurassic park's dinosaurs are kaiju
I can give retro depictions a pass since they're (mostly) up to date with the knowledge of their time (like King Kong (1933) and Jurassic Park)
But the more they diverge from their real life versions (with the current knowledge) the less sense it makes to equate them (e.g. Jurassic World and Ice Age 3), specially with the roles they're given

There's something about the word "MEAT" that sounds so menacing. Meat Eater is one of those names that sounds badass but when you really think about it, everyone is a meat eater
Thank you for acknowledging the colorized version exists. It’s been all but erased from history but it was the one I grew up watching and I cherish my laserdisc of it. 💿

I watched it on cable, recorded off TV onto VHS! Got the laserdisc a few years back.
There IS A colorized version of Son of Kong, it aired on TCM a few times back in the day. I have...some of it recorded. Our cable was going in an out that night so over half the movie is static. :( I'm always on the lookout for a bootleg, as far as I can tell it's never been officially released in color.

My guess for the Meat-Eater for the MonsterVerse:
A descendant of the Tyrannosaurus rex (called "Tyrannosaurus imperator") that lives in Hollow Earth (and previously lived on Skull Island). The Meat-Eater/Tyrannosaurus imperator is a predatory species that feeds on large dinosaurs as well as Sker Buffalo, and sometimes they are preyed upon by Warbats and Hollow Earth dragons. Meat-Eaters are also a rival predator species to both Skullcrawlers and Gorosaurus, and they themselves fear Godzilla (they can fight against Kong, but will run away from the King of the Monsters).
Also, for the MonsterVerse, Meat-Eaters are the size of a Giganotosaurus (unlike their T-rex ancestors) so that they can take down bigger prey.

I would count this as a kaiju because it’s a very large dinosaur and has kaiju like traits like standing upright. Love the video.
HL Studios too small to be a Kaiju. I’d say you’ed have to be about 50ft at least to be classified as a kaiju.

Can you blame them for the confusion? During Charles R. Knight days those two dinosaurs almost looked the same. Except Allo was more sleek and scrawny, while T-Rex was more chunky and heavy.

I think it IS a Tyrannosaurus Rex, because it's based off the Charles R. Knight Illustration of a Tyrannosaur.
I think it might be an allosaurid because the producer said so and you cant argue with the producer.

This guy had a name? Really? That's interesting.
Despite the scientificly inaccurate design, this is one of my favorite "T-Rex" (first place being Rexy from Jurassic Park).
I think this was meant to be a T-Rex. I've read once that Ray Harryhousen had trouble differentiating between T Rex and Allosaurus, since they're both bipedal carnivorous predators, and giving the information they had back then, I can see the confusion.
TRIVIA: For those of you who recognize my channel, I actually attempted making an Apoxie sculpt creation of this Meat-Eater, and got as far as the head. I scrapped the project to to faded interest, plus in hindsight I'm glad I did. I had more to learn before attempting something like that.

Harryhausen knew the difference between Tyrannosaurus and Allosaurus. He preferred the Allosaurus' 3 fingered hands over the 2 fingered hands of T-Rex.

This dinosaur was replaced by skull Krawler in latest King Kong movie. Now all the dinosaurs are gone replaced by some other kaiju.

@@WhatDillionYT I'm glad they didn't. It made it easier to differentiate the Monsterverse from Jurassic Park and Peter Jackson's King Kong. Plus, having living dinosaurs running around in a world that also has giant kaiju the size of buildings in it feels kind of pointless.
