MrAwesomeness360 I like the old Skull Island more. It has the feeling of being out of an old Lovecraft-story, with its foreboding feel, ancient ruins, terrifying creatures and so many mysteries.
@@manospondylus Okay, first of all, what's with the forced Lovecraft comparison? Why does everyone always makes stupid comparions to HP Lovecraft? Not everything is Lovecraftian. Second, as I said, that's all fine and good, but when it all comes down to it the classic Skull Island was still nothing more than a prehistoric natural preserve, which is awesome. But the MonsterVerse Skull Island does something much more unique with its wildlife and is infested with creatures that look and feel like they actual come from there, a place where it is filled with literal monsters, a place that defies all evolution. Not to mention, it is the last place on Earth where there still exists a human civilization that worships Titans (Kong in this case) and has learned that they're not just a part of life but learn to co-exist with them in peace, something the rest of the outside world has forgotten with the likes of Godzilla and others, and now humanity will pay the price.
I love peter Jackson's skull island, it has more realism than monsterverse skull island. This version of skull island has so much mysterious creatures that could be believed to be realistic in our world. God I wish there was an island that had prehistoric creatures on it trapped in time that will be so cool.
It’s because of Peter Jackson’s rugged, vast and terrifying depiction of Skull Island and its prehistoric inhabitants is why I wish he would lend himself to direct a remake of The Lost World by Arthur Conan Doyle, with the 1925 silent film as partial inspiration.
Steven Jones not really the only creatures interesting were the skull crawlers, the others are just massive like the sker buffalo and the others are interesting just cause of the camouflage like the spore mantis and the long legs spider thing. Also hi again
The original 1933 Skull Island will always be the best in my eyes. The 2005 King Kong is the only subsequent Kong film to even come close to the 1933 island. I hated the 2017 island setting, despite loving the look of their Kong most of all because it's essentially a 21st century, CG update of Willis O'Brien's original Kong who stood upright and had dark brown fur. The 2017 picture lacks the lush jungle environments of the '33 and 2005 films. Skull Island's trademark light-to-dark shading scales, thick trees wrapped in vines, robust undergrowth, and ever present perma-canopy were nowhere to be found in 2017. All I could think to myself was how this Skull Island was little more than an excuse to spend 8 weeks in Hawaii & various other Pacific islands.
Britton Thompson my main problem with the 2017 virgin (see what I did there) is that all of it’s inhabitants are based on camouflaging, the only ones that are not based on camouflage is the skull crawler, Kong. That is without counting the comics
I love the 2005 skull island so much, it has this mysterious and horrifying yet beautiful atmosphere, the creatures are all very realistic, and the history of the island is extremely interesting
Why are you two comparing the Kong 2005 (or the traditional story in general) with _Kong: Skull Island_ when you two know that movie is a reboot and doesn't follow the traditional story and rather be its own thing? It's comparing 🍎 and 🍊, they're just not the same. Not criticizing, just saying.
I didn't compare it to Kong: Skull Island. I was talking the 3 remakes, but it still is way better then Kong: Skull Island. The film was truly a masterpiece, a far better island and Kong and other monsters on the island. There aren't just dinosaurs, there's still other monsters from the game and World of Kong book.
Me personally, I prefer the MonsterVerse Skull Island better, the wildlife is far different from anything we've seen before. Whereas previous iterations presented the island as nothing more than a prehistoric natural preserve, the MV version features gigantic animals that are a hybrid of flora and fauna, things that don't fit in any kind of natural classification, they too evolution down a completely different path that would leave Darwin himself speechless. Their aggressive change defies all evolution. Because of that, it makes it more not just mysterious but more dangerous because there are predators everywhere and their evolutionary defiance makes them unpredictable, you don't know where they are and they blend in with the island's flora perfectly. It is also a land of gods and devils, where some animals are gods of their own domain, which is what Vogt-Roberts intended with a nice touch of Miyazaki, with Kong being the god of the island while the Skullcrawlers are the devils, so there is also a great sense of mythology there. What Jordan and Legendary did gave the island a unique identity and it makes it stand out from the rest, just like the movie it came from.
Holy shit, i came looking for a bit of lore on Peter Jackson's skull island and i found gold, it was very well thought out, it shows how much care they put into it and the movie and i absolutely love it, it has a special place in my heart
I like this pseudo-documentary. It really shows how much Peter Jackson and company thought out the history, flora, fauna, etc of Skull Island. It makes it feel more real, or at least believable.
Same thing can be said for the MonsterVerse version of Skull Island. Honestly, I like that one much better because while the traditional island is more of a prehistoric natural preserve, the creatures in the MV Skull Island took evolution down a completely whole new level, where there's a bigger megafauna ecosystem and the animals evolved to the point where they are not flora or fauna, they're florafauna. That honestly sounds much more fascinating and are creatures you'd expect living on Skull Island. Also, I like that the new Skull Island actually looks like a skull.
Stale Bread he sure is, I mean hell Weta Workshop published a huge book about skull Islands ecosystem, with more than a hundred species made up for it, when only like 8 appeared in the film!
ShArp_47 well it's very old, so I would look somewhere like Ebay or Amazon, but it's called: World of Kong: A Natural History Of Skull Island Hope this helps :)
The original skull island 1933 - Classic, terrifying, primordial ecosystem mixed with old aged, prehistoric creatures based on the artwork of Charles R. Knight and simply out of the horrors of the human imagination of the time (spider pit creatures). 1962/63 Skull/Farou Islands - The first Skull to take place in the Pacific and more of an example of a "unmemorable generic interpretation of Skull Island. (Because the focus was more Kong fighting Godzilla). - Mondo islands is just another example of the Farou skull island, but it did have a dinosaur on it. 1976 Skull Island - A natural looking, mysterious island but not much of a prehistoric relic, however abit more "real life realism" to it. (As most of the budget for the movie went into Kong's suit and mechanics.) 2005 Skull Island - Creepy, vicious, predator conflict-dominated, lush, geologically wrecked and mysterious ecosystem with creatures of accurate biological functions/features. 2017 Skull Island - Possibly a place of origin for all giant monsters/titans or an example of a world dominated by giant creatures with a feral-native fauna ecological conflict (Kong and Skull Crawlers).
As generic as it may sound, I'd prefer a subtle blending the best qualities of the different iterations. Namely the biological nightmares of the 2005 version, peppered with the more mythical creatures of the 2017 version, with some subtle realism (namely scaling back on the size and intelligence of Kong and the Skullcrawlers); and finally devolved, lizard-like dinasauroids that resembled those of the 30s film.
You can literally make skull island with AI generated pictures. The AI is really good when it comes to environments landscapes, forest, jungles, waterfalls, rivers, grass lands, and so on. But it still struggles with humans and animals and dinosaurs but I've made loads of pictures that look real and they match perfectly on how the 2005 king kong skull island looks. I'm some what of an artist so I'll just take the AI environments and try and add in my own drawings or paintings of skull islands dinosaurs and add them to the Ai generated island. The AI can spit out really good looking environments within about 30 seconds all you need to do is type out what you want the island forest and on look like and make sure the trees you tell it to add are root trees they match the movies trees to a tee.
This first Kong film to honor the lush prehistoric jungle Willis O'Brien and Mario Larinaga created back in 1933. The original Skull Island remains the best jungle humanity has ever seen in a movie!
There’s a ride at Universal’s Islands of Adventure called “Skull Island: Reign of Kong” The rides storyline is both a prequel and sequel of Peter Jackson’s movie. The prequel took place in 1931 two years before Carl Denham went to the island with Ann Darrow, then years later in 2016 another expedition came to the island and found out that the island didn’t sink and found remains of the previous expedition from 1931.
I'm so gullible. I watched all of the bonus features from the DVD, and when I saw this, I genuinely believed it and was so excited about it. Finding out that it was fake just really hurt my feelings lol. I'm too old to fall for this.
The original 1933 film is a groundbreaking classic influencing countless other films and filmmakers, however Peter Jackson's 2005 King Kong is the definitive Kong movie, the 1933 period, the detail and depth put into Skull Island, the humanization of Kong himself, the perfectly casted actors... the 3 + hour runtime doesn't bother me one bit!
100% agree. One of the greatest films of my childhood. It’s one of those films that never gets old. The 2017 movie, while different, was a decent movie with some cool scenes but the 2005 movie is superior in acting, soundtrack and plot. Even the V Rex fight was better than the Skullcrawler fight. Oh and the Natives in 2005 were way scarier.
Australia: we have the most dangerous wildlife on the planet, nothing can top us. Skull Island: why that's so cute, allow us to introduce ourselves. Australia: why do I hear Boss Music???
Ordinary people on Skull Island: I'm outta here!!!! InGen Scientists on Skull Island: Make sure you capture every last one of them or You're all fired!!
I still hate that they destroyed the island afterwards. Like you had this amazing world building and you just throw it out the window. You could have made that amazing book without saying the island was destroyed. Like come on! All the magic and wonder in that world is now gone. It’s just our world now. No dinosaurs, no monsters, nothing.
I actually have a passing theory, that within the universe Skull Island didn't actually sink. Might sound odd, but I have a few reasons why. First, is the convenience of it sinking. This rendition of Skull Island is not volcanic, implying it would have less of a physical presence within a fault line or a less likely chance of tectonic activity directly on or around the island. Not to mention, how it could have and did survive for millions of years, and yet only a decade after its discovery it completely vanished? Not to mention, it's unlikely an earthquake would make the entirety of an island disappear. Break, some parts might sink, but not an entire land mass. Next, my main point: The governments of the world would want it to be obscured, for several reasons as well. As it is a treasure trove of ancient knowledge, they would want it to be preserved; as the war raged on, and travel became both faster and more readily available to people worldwide, the governments who were interested would have no control over who went to the island to potentially damage its people or wildlife. The other reason would be the danger the island itself presents; these creatures are all hyper-evolved killing machines, capable of surviving extreme conditions as well as in a small population over millions of years. If enough made it back to the mainland, they could potentially spread without control. Imagine if a few of those raptors came back to South America, and a few years later an entire population arose? The ultimate method of keeping the people out and the creatures within: A cover-up. As Kong already came to America and showed the world he, and the island, existed, there could be no cover up. But if the people could be convinced the island *did* exist, but doesn't *anymore*, then there would be no reason for anybody to attempt to find it or visit it, preserving and containing the island's contents. Also, a cover-up may be the reason why the museum refused to show the "remains" of Kong. Not that he's alive, per se, but that he's not being "preserved" in the sense of anything less than study, and to cover up as much as possible. Just a personal theory of mine, and I suspect it could be either way.
@@taliesincoleman6569 not only changing, But most likely collapsing, considering how the isolation and the decrease in area size allowed more gene flow among populations. This causes the gene pool to become less differentiated since the genetic material between individals becomes more alike, and individuals inbred more. We already saw this on the V-rexes fighting kong (since they were called a familiy of inbreds) And since all of them were killed, more of the genetic material of the species became lost in the prosess. So a cover up would be plausible, But I think the Island was doomed long before it sank
Universal King Kong 2005 is one of my favorite Peter Jackson movie . I remember seeing it in theaters with my dad sis and grandma and we loved it . And now that I have the blu ray I say King Kong 2005 is absolutely awesome. I also say it connects to Jurassic Park lost world Jurassic World and fallen kingdom and dominion
Be careful Skull Island is very dangerous place, if you’re planning to explore jungles and camping be sure to bring weapons and ammunition also tons of food and water 😊
If anyone enjoyed this documentary and want more, I highly recommend you buy the book that came with the movie “Skull Island: A Natural History Guide”. Most of the concept art in this video was taken from the book. The book includes the 100’s of other animals on the island that were not featured in the movie with concept art for all. It’s a really great book!
@@henry-thepizzaeater-morgan704 I was able to grab the book after the movie came out. Good to know how much it’s worth in case I ever come into a financial bind.
It really isn't needed. I get the need for wanting more lore, but as far as a remake to Merian C. Cooper's story goes, it isn't necessary, some things are better left a mystery. Plus, everything that needed to be said is already told in this mockumentary and making a sequel without Kong is boring and sequels never work when remaking Cooper's story, just look at "Son of Kong" and "King Kong Lives", which is why I prefer the MonsterVerse Kong 'cause it's an entirely new iteration of the character and can guarantee more sequels.
Fun fact: the “explorers” featured at 1:10 are all the people that went into the creation of the movie. WETA folks, writers, producers, even Peter Jackson himself which you can see him stand as the third guy to the furtherest right.
The woman underneath Jackson is Carolynne Cunningham, the Asssistant Director of this movie, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy and The Hobbit Trilogy. You can see her in some of the extended edition documentaries of said movies.
the reality of this documentary was really to explain the artistic choices made for the dinosaurs and skull island in general something that is pretty much necessary for making VFX
Honestly. In my head canon. King Kong 2005 takes place in the same universe as Jurassic Park. I like to imagine Hammond's father was one of those expedition survivors who recounted the events of the island and this inspired him to genetically create his version of dinosaurs.
@scienceuser99 (OP) Better yet, Skull Island did not sink as they told us, but was kept under wraps by Monarch, which lied about its date of inception. Later, in his 20s, after becoming a millionaire (in the 50s), Hammond funds an expedition to find the Island again, and once there, begins taking blood samples from carcasses. Unfortunately for him, his blood samples are contaminated by predator blood as well, hence the cloning of weird and exaggerated versions of the dinosaurs, which they had to put down immediately. During their research, his team discovers the giganticism gene. Of course, there are accidents in the Park, and InGen takes over, and while on Skull Island, they begin experimenting with giganticism on the megaprimatus kong primates, but this time they were unable to control the outcome. The Kongs destroy the facilities, and the survivors, including Hammond (taking his prized samples) leaves the island. Hammond then spends the next 40 years creating his dinosaur park, raising only the purest samples to full size. "They call the islands, _las cinco mortis_?" "Si." " "You mean there are two islands with dinosaurs on them?" No, there are five.
@@AHSears Do you think that Hammond or InGen would've tried to create a park on Skull Island? Or at the very least, collect samples from the bones the V rex's and Kon's family for new additions to Jurassic Park?
@@jasonvazquez8652 Why not? With some clever engineering, as found in Jurassic Park 3, he could have found a secluded spot on the island to do his experiments. It could explain some of the Jurassic world monsters.
There are 2 things about this that amaze me: 1) Some people are discussing it like it's real. I'm really hoping there is some subtle sarcasm there. 2) Some people are getting bent out of shape saying it's "fake," "bullshit," and wasted their time. You don't say! Did you not read the title?! Have you never heard of King Kong? Peter Jackson? Movies? Promotional material? 🤦
I would love a king kong film where the island is like this version, and the events of 1933 are canon, except the island did not disappear, and is still around in modern times, but because of the difficulties in getting there and exploring it, plus the eyewitness testimonies of the surviving crew, and scientific importance, it was restricted from being accessed, being declared a protected area. And now in the 21st century, Kong has been cloned from his remains and they plan to reintroduce his clones and go there to properly explore the place and catalogue the creatures.
I love this 2005 king Kong better than the 2017 because most of the creatures in the movie were based off of prehistoric beasts that actually existed 💯
I wish more movie-makers now a days would put this much effort into world-building... This is exquisite... Though I find something relatively disappointing; the idea of Skull Island sinking...is actually a canonical idea taken over from Son of Kong, when the island sinks below the waves during the film's climax. They even mention that Carl Denham makes a return trip to the island...So my question is...why couldn't they mention the Son of Kong? Give us the idea that Denham makes claims of seeing a smaller Albino Megaprimatus on the island, and even befriending it...but because the island sank and the animal died, he has no ways of proving it.
Because unlike RKO and De Laurentiis Entertainment Group (DEG), Jackson made the wise choice of keeping the traditional story how it should be - a standalone story. There never was anything about the old story that could guarantee a continuation and the ones that were made are highly questionable. Kong being the last of his kind makes his death all the more tragic, even seemingly terrifying having to realize that Denham's actions is what caused the extinction of Kong's kin. Like I said, Jackson made a wise choice leaving the original story end where it should be.
MrAwesomeness360 I mean either way if Carl Denham took kong from skull island or not king kongs species was eventually finished, king kong would need another female not even that like at least 100 of them in order to bring back the species so either way megaprimithus kong was already extinct
Actually, the island may not have sunk. As part of the promotion for the new ride at Islands of Adventure, Universal Orlando produced a Travel Channel-esque mockumentary called Myth Explorer. Turns out Skull Island survived, but it's many miles from where it was back in the 1930's, suggesting that the tectonic plate it's on shifted by a great deal. That's why the post-WWII expedition never found it. They even have feeds from 360 degree cameras they set up. One gets shaky when something big moves by it in the night, and one in the swamp gets eaten by something.
The severe reduction in prey species would have led to extreme competition among the many predator species, thus resulting in fewer predators over several generations which would've obviously ended with a drop in genetic diversity as the gene pools of each species shrank. This would explain the existence of the trio of highly inbred V.rexes we see in the film, as well as their unnatural level of aggression. Willing to kill themselves to eat Ann, which would otherwise be a miniscule prey item not on the radar of such an enormous predator.
Most life on the island was engineered and replaced until the machinery stopped working long after it was abandoned during the 8,000 years of civil war till the Toba explosion of the caldera ended it. Penaka an agent of KALI-MA sabotaged it making the creatures hyper aggressive and lust for human flesh.
Craig McBurney ok do you actually think it is real or what? You like said that to another person who wishes that this is real. Like grow up, I know they said the island sunk, but come on you are better than that
The dinosaurs on skull island have evolved for centuries. I also believe they changed their dna by being more intelligent and possibly become more aware of predators . Skull island is one place I would want to explore and study .
Gabe the film and novel expert Donovan you’d be dead within a matter of hours first off. Second off, you know this is fake right? I can’t tell if people think it’s real anymore.
@@generalalduin9548 yeah I used to wonder about that myself. But when I grew older I knew skull island was a made up story . But I believe the dinosaurs 🦖 and King Kong 2005 share the same connection to universal Jurassic park and Jurassic world
Best goddamn king king movie ever. I love the monsterverse Kong but what Peter Jackson did with Kong can not be topped even by the original. This documentary they made and the book really create a world and ecosystem none other King Kong movies has ever really tried to do. There is so much love and research that went into the movie. The movie’s backgrounds and creatures commit to world building. 2005 King Kong is legendary imo. I’m so pissed I can’t get the book because they are extremely expensive online.
Peter Jackson didn't even showcase Skull Island like he should have he made a 3 hour movie & half the movie we didn't even get to see Skull Island their is so much we didn't get to see . Fuck him King Kong 2005 had major potetional & he waisted it on stupid human drama .
Thanks for uploading this. I don't know why but I remember watching this extra on the DVD and being absolutely traumatized by the image of the Saola. Can't even remember why looking back on it now
The only problem with this is the fact they are comparing Skull islands dinosaurs to dinosaurs that lived no where near Skull Islands geographical location. For example, they compared/based the V Rex, off the T Rex, except this island is off the coast of Indonesia. But T Rex was the apex predator of North America in its time. It would be more accurate to say the V Rex was based off an Asian Tyrannosaur like Tarbosaurus. That would be more realistic
@@FlimsyAcorn2722 they ruled North America and Asia during the Middle to Late Cretaceous, South America and Africa during those times were mostly ruled by Abelisaurs once the Carcharodontosaurs and other big apex theropods went extinct
Funny you should say that because I saw this when I was a kid and I believed the Skull Island was a real place and Kong did exist, however as an adult I know that its a fictional documentary for to be more accurate speculative zoology. ;)
I was pretty surprised they didn't mentioned a high rate of carbon recycle on that island. Basically almost everything that was generated from that island came to that island again and again. Which might explains why there are so many predators that could've preyed on another predator thus establishing a hyper-Competitive environment like skull island. This reminds me of the snake island in Pacific ocean where they lacked herbivores so they had to resort on carnivores to carnivores diet, which means every snake on that island survived these days due to preying on each other. Each species tried to out compete each other to become top of food chain and as the result many snakes reached maturity early due to their need of reproduction to ensure sustainability and competitiveness from their environment and this also recreates a diversification of snakes on that island since they developed particular way to outcompete other snake in their environment. The skull island i think with high amount of predator and decreased amount of prey would've resorted to such action over time. And i think it would end up to be one of the most dangerous place on earth for unarmed human.
The new James wan & Disney+ King Kong skull island prequel / origin series should be set in peter Jackson’s King Kong movie based on the man who survived skull island the one that Andy Serkis’ character is talking about and or the guy who survived and made the map that Jack gets coz I believe Jackson’s skull island will forever be the best looking skull island there ever will be because the one in Kong skull island was extremely dull and kinda lack luster.
The native lumpy found committed suicide the next morning they found him lol. It would be cool to see some sequel though of explorers venturing the island!
There's one problem with that. This Belongs to Universal & to Peter Jackson. All created by them. And universal would never allow that to happen. And the last thing Disney wants is go to court.
The only issue with this documentary is it's length. It could've been at least 30 mins or even more and I wouldn't mind. TBH, the Skull Island itself was the most fascinating thing about Peter Jackson's movie. BTW, I can't believe there's people here genuinely believing this FICTIONAL documentary depicted real events. 😂
Rodrigo F. R. de Souza thank you, I don’t know why people keep thinking this obviously fake documentary for a movie is real. Was it just that convincing?
I remember watching this on the DVD when it came out, and I actually believed it and I thought it was real, only now watching this video again after all these years, reading the description and the comments, It is not real😂
I managed to expand more on the Peter Jackson’s King Kong universe by including my own fan fiction. This cinematic series would’ve included the prequel from before the 1933 events explaining the story of the castaway who made the map of skull island and the The 1934 expedition based on the documentary and encyclopedia book which would’ve acted as a sequel to the 2005 film and all of the main characters would make a comeback. The 1934 expedition would’ve encountered many of the creatures from the first film as well as being introduced to newer ones and Kong’s Son. but along the way, this research team would face a very dangerous and powerful rival…the German army. The German army are preparing to capture the creatures and use them for military purposes to overthrow their enemies. It will be up to The protagonists to stop them and put an end to their cruelty. my version of skull island would not sink and be lost to the sea like the documentary/encyclopedia mentioned. But rather, the island and all the animals survived the catastrophic earthquake… This is where a new enemy would be introduced. around 1948, a secretive and millennial old organization known as “The Order Of Chiros”, whom has mass influence over different nations, made up the story that the island sunk to cover up its existence from the public and so they can keep the island and its secrets to themselves. This is where a sequel trilogy will jump in. taking place in the future/modern times, the sequels would be inspired by the Kong:Animated series (2001). Minus the whole cyber-link sequence. This will explain the story of a college archeologist graduate student, Jason Jenkins, becoming infatuated by his grandmother’s research about the once mysterious and legendary Skull Island. But it’s only a matter of time before his infatuated becomes his obsession, leading to put his friends and close people in danger. He would later encounter The Order of Chiros, a militant organization that plans to rule the entirety of the earth through the use of an ancient artifact known as “The Primal Stone”. This would go more into depth about the history and of the once Great Civilization that once ruled skull island before it went into desertion and ruins. For both Jason and the Organization want to unlock the islands secrets… My sequel trilogy would have Tomb raider, Uncharted and Indians Jones elements of inspiration as you can see. If only I had a job at universal and had Peter Jackson to hear my idea so this can become a real thing :(
V. Rexes, Venatosaurus raptors, killer terror birds, giant insects and worms creatures, Terapusmordax, even herbivores like Ferrucutus. Let me tell ya, nobody would want to be caught dead with those creatures if they were real.

Me too. It should have been a movie focus on skull island of 2005. Maybe some explorers in 16 century who came across by this island by chance or a later expeditions after 1933
Its kinda sad that fanboys can't just enjoy a movie and let a bunch of fake rumors go to their head. The REBOOT was fine and is very much its own thing.
1980sLover I know right. I wish they made another movie where maybe Carl or the crew revisited the island. I just wish they was more of a backstory of the island and It would be also cool if 5hey captured some of the bugs and did some research bout them. Carl honestly should of captured the bugs. But yeah it would be cool
I’m almost sympathetic for the natives that once lived on Skull Island....must be terrifying to be at the bottom of the food chain and having to live in fear with everything that could eat you alive!

MrAwesomeness360 Skull Island *is* pretty similar to how R'lyeh is described in Call of Cthulhu

I love peter Jackson's skull island, it has more realism than monsterverse skull island.
This was by far the absolute best King Kong film of all time. Beats every single one, including the original.
Exactly, this movie is so much better than kong skull island 2017, and I liked the 2017 one
I agree
What Jordan and Legendary did gave the island a unique identity and it makes it stand out from the rest, just like the movie it came from.

i would've liked your comment if you didn't blaspheme.
Peter Jackson is so fucking dedicated to the lore of his movies
Stale Bread he sure is, I mean hell Weta Workshop published a huge book about skull Islands ecosystem, with more than a hundred species made up for it, when only like 8 appeared in the film!

(As most of the budget for the movie went into Kong's suit and mechanics.)
2005 Skull Island - Creepy, vicious, predator conflict-dominated, lush, geologically wrecked and mysterious ecosystem with creatures of accurate biological functions/features.
2017 Skull Island - Possibly a place of origin for all giant monsters/titans or an example of a world dominated by giant creatures with a feral-native fauna ecological conflict (Kong and Skull Crawlers).
Noice summary
Gotta say, 2005 is my favorite. Just a more interesting design of the island and its inhabitants.
All great descriptions
As generic as it may sound, I'd prefer a subtle blending the best qualities of the different iterations. Namely the biological nightmares of the 2005 version, peppered with the more mythical creatures of the 2017 version, with some subtle realism (namely scaling back on the size and intelligence of Kong and the Skullcrawlers); and finally devolved, lizard-like dinasauroids that resembled those of the 30s film.
Skull Island is easily one of my favorite places in all of fiction. Just an island full of giant monsters and such a rich history. What's not to love?
This skull island will always be peak.
This first Kong film to honor the lush prehistoric jungle Willis O'Brien and Mario Larinaga created back in 1933. The original Skull Island remains the best jungle humanity has ever seen in a movie!
My 8 year old self actually fell for this back in the the late 2000s!

Just a personal theory of mine, and I suspect it could be either way.
that actually does make sense.
though the ecosystem WAS showing signs of change.
2005 Skull Island is way better and more dangerous than 2017 Skull Island
The 2017 one was pretty cool, but I agree that this one is leagues above that
For me it’s better because it’s more realistic and it dives into speculative evolution. The 2017 one is just giant monsters.

SKull Island feels like a testament to all the sci fi dinosaur films of the 20th century even thought it started it
The speculative evolution aspect of the ecosystem of Skull Island remains the best part of the 2005 project.
The amount of detail put into this is amazing...

Bruh.
the reality of this documentary was really to explain the artistic choices made for the dinosaurs and skull island in general
something that is pretty much necessary for making VFX

Ugh I wish it was real😂
Hahahahahahahah oh man

GanonGhidorah I wish they made a sequel movie son of Kong after the 2005 king kong

Funny you should say that because I saw this when I was a kid and I believed the Skull Island was a real place and Kong did exist, however as an adult I know that its a fictional documentary for to be more accurate speculative zoology. ;)
Craig McBurney bro grow up
I was pretty surprised they didn't mentioned a high rate of carbon recycle on that island.
Even if your armed there is no guarantee you will survive
At all.
It was kind of depressing note to end on
Yeah I would want the animals to survive on this island
I KNEW King Kong was a documentary!!!!
You _did_ read the description, right? This is a FICTIONAL documentary specifically created as a bonus feature for an earlier DVD release.
Oh, golly gee.
You could've added an extra "gee wiz" for effect.
2005 Kong is my favorite version
Same
Yep
Tbh same here.
For a sec it had me thinking it was real lmao
The only issue with this documentary is it's length. It could've been at least 30 mins or even more and I wouldn't mind. TBH, the Skull Island itself was the most fascinating thing about Peter Jackson's movie.
BTW, I can't believe there's people here genuinely believing this FICTIONAL documentary depicted real events. 😂
Rodrigo F. R. de Souza thank you, I don’t know why people keep thinking this obviously fake documentary for a movie is real.
Was it just that convincing?
The stupidity in the comments is why the pastor drives a Bentley.
But rather, the island and all the animals survived the catastrophic earthquake…
This is where a new enemy would be introduced. around 1948, a secretive and millennial old organization known as “The Order Of Chiros”, whom has mass influence over different nations, made up the story that the island sunk to cover up its existence from the public and so they can keep the island and its secrets to themselves.
For both Jason and the Organization want to unlock the islands secrets…
My sequel trilogy would have Tomb raider, Uncharted and Indians Jones elements of inspiration as you can see. If only I had a job at universal and had Peter Jackson to hear my idea so this can become a real thing :(
This sounds interesting! Adapting Kong the Animated Series as a sequel to the 2005 film!
Could you link it?
Would King Kong return or a new Kong
@ it would be Kongs son taking the mantle. He would be a young ape during the 1930s-1940s. And he would be an adult By the early 2000s-present day
V. Rexes, Venatosaurus raptors, killer terror birds, giant insects and worms creatures, Terapusmordax, even herbivores like Ferrucutus. Let me tell ya, nobody would want to be caught dead with those creatures if they were real.
They should make a new video game for this
Brownbear 1 really man it’s s good idea, we should make that game and get rich 😆
Big long Meat count me in
@Gen3ric _ David ANOTHER ONE
Back in 2016
There was a roumor of a prequel movie of King Kong of 2005 version.
I couldn’t hold my breath, i was so fucking excited.
But at the end, It was the Kong: Skull Island shitty reboot movie.
2005 Skull Island deserved to be more explored.
@@Bakamatsu-GojiFanArchive yea
It was not shitty how f dare you
This documentary is better than the hobbit
Was that necessary?
+Oscar Stainton Don't be a bitch.
+TheBakedDonut20; I could say the same for you.
@@thebakeddonut2038 Hey screw off
HEY I LOVED THE HOBBIT YOU ASS😡😡
The fact people believe this is real kinda scares me
Me too 😂
Same.
I used to think this was real when I was a kid lol
@@redseaweedcupcakes4837yeah me too lmao
i wish it was real so i can see king kong and then die instantly
I’m almost sympathetic for the natives that once lived on Skull Island....must be terrifying to be at the bottom of the food chain and having to live in fear with everything that could eat you alive!
I wonder if a V-Rex could beat a Skullcrawler in a fight.
Skullcrawlers are like 10 times as big
LugiaFanForever if they were the same sizes the V-Rex would probably lose, cause the Skullcrawler could wrap its body around the Rex leading to its death. I am a V-Rex fan and it disgusts me saying this
I think even when their around similar sizes, I think the skull crawlers have the advantage of being more intelligent.
Adeesh Up at least you anit bias, A+ for that
Do you want to visit skull island?
Play King Kong video game for PS2 or Xbox 360.
the game is so much better than the movie!
The first thing to kill me was a megapede, yeah that game had the skull island feeling.
For a 2005 game.
It looks incredible, especially the island design, it’s very realistic.
ArnoldTohtFan the movie is better than the game. You probably haven’t even seen the movie. What a joke.
Dear Billy this island is hell
I used to believe this as a kid.
T -800 Same when I was 5 years old
