Sega A.B. Cop / Air Bike Cop Arcade 1990 : Wiring Pinouts And Gameplay (Actual Hardware

- Taking a look at this quite rare and obscure arcade pcb by Sega. called A.B. Cop or Air Bike Cop.
Due to the lack of information for wiring on this particular board, I have shown some of the pinouts at the beginning of the video to help out those with this board.
This is one of those games that is quite similar to Taito's Chase H.Q. series. The scrolling effects are great and the game is quite high paced fun. Hitting the enemy bikes can be a bit time consuming though.
Hey Luke! I've been watching your content since 2012, and it's awesome that the format is virtually the same. I love coming here every so often just for that "nostalgia" factor, even if its a new video! 🎮 😎
I really appreciate that a lot. I've tried to keep the video consistent so whether someone watches an old video or a new one, it almost feels the same. Not sure if that's good or not but it's consistent 😂
Thanks again and hope you are doing well
@@lukemorse1 Don't worry about it (With Sunset Riders voice). It's a good thing.
Hey, Luke I have a question. Where did you purchase all of your arcade hardware? Like all of your PCB Boards? Which websites etc. I know you purchased many from Japan but where? Also I remember way back you had PGM Poly game master I believe as well as Atomiswave. Where did you get all of that hardware etc. Thank you
Hi Adrian,
I pick them up from various places. Sometimes going to the arcade pcb shops, sometimes online, and other times through private vendors. There's no specific spot and I just find them as I go.
Thanks again
This is literally one of my most favorite games.
This game almost makes you think the twin MC68000 is
doing a blitter in software mode. Much like the awesome
Rad Mobile for the System 32. Thank you for another awesome
video Luke.
Fabulous job saving this board. This game kind of reminds me of Jet Moto for the PS1. I remember playing Jet Moto and Jet Moto 2 with friends back in the day.
Thanks a million!
Jet moto eh? I'll have to check that out. I remember playing wipeout on PS and enjoyed it but something else to try, thanks!
@@lukemorse1 I never played Wipeout on the PS1 but I did played it on the N64 and loved it. Definitely play Jet Moto when you get a chance. A great racing game for the PS1.
looks like After Burner except you're on a bike and uhh not shooting things. Though perhaps guns or missiles would have been a better idea for this one. Ramming the boss over and over kinda looses the momentum of the game. Feels strange.
Haha, for sure man, exactly just that. I think that if it had some kind of gun setup it would be cool but just like the taito chase h.q. game, it was all about ramming the bad guys off the road lol
Never seen this one out in the wild. Hardware looks a bit of a chunky beast.
What cool looking game this is and great to see another upload Luke. 👏
Love some Sega!🤘😎
Loved playing this on mame back in the day
That's awesome! I wish I had played some of these back in the early days of Mame but it's cool to try them out now.
While was SEGA published this game, only for the arcades unfortunately, it was developed by Aicom.
Very cool info there, thanks for that!
Always so many gems here, I admire you capability of bringing so much arcade wonders and quality content ! Keep up ! 😁
That's really kind of you to say.
If I come across some cool old games I want to see if I can get them working again. With some of these more obscure ones I try to show the pinouts and wiring where possible.
Thanks for watching and the support
you should use the jump more often ^^
thx for this vid, master luke.
Haha, I'll give it a try next round. Thanks for watching as usual!
Try jumping to the head/body of the bosses for more damage.
For sure brother. This is one many may never see unless you are in Chicago and can make it out to Galloping Ghost. This board is Massive! Aside from the counter, this thing won't fit anywhere 😅
Thanks as always for checking the vids and I'll catch you on the next one
Really glad to hear that. When I first saw the dual 68000's I knew it was going to be good lol.
Thanks for checking as always!
This is awesome Luke!!! This is like Enduro Racer, Chase HQ, Rad Mobile and Aqua Jack where put in a blender and this came out. This reminds me I need to make a JAMMA adapter for my Virtua Fighter 2.
Haha! Thanks Tighe!
Those are all awesome games and I feel that Sega and Taito were definitely "borrowing" some ideas from one another lol.
Hopefully you can get that fighting stick done soon and show it off!
I still need to find a sub board that is used for the controls on Aqua Jack and I'll be able to show that one off as well!
Good luck to the both of us
I'm sorry to say this, Luke, but I don't think that's a real Sega Saturn monitor...
The sticker gives it away. It's subtle, but if you look closely you'll notice that it's slightly off-center.😅
Anyways, I've never heard of Air Bike Cop before, but it looks like fun time.
Great video as always, keep 'em coming🙂
haha, yeah, definitely not. Those were some stickers I had from a while back so I decided to slap them on. A.B.Cop is such a wild game and not sure what the developers were hoping for but its interesting for sure. Thanks as always and hope you are doing well!
These sega super scaler racing games are awesome....I have never seen this game out in the wild but I remember the first time I saw sega's Outrun I was really impressed!!!
Sega really was really a powerhouse back in the day. These old classics had some amazing effects for sure!
Luke, what used game shops do you recommend checking out in 2024?
Honestly, I think that the prices at most of the used game stores have gone through the roof or are trying to sell items for almost retail even being used. If you find a good shop, let me know lol.
Great playthrough, Ram/Plough Through, video Doctor Luke! 👍😎
This video kinda made me wish you could make a Bike Ride video like you used to again.
Haha! thanks man. Its all about the crashing in this one. I may make a riding video some time but Ill have to wait and see. Until then, I hope you keep doing well and thanks as always!
I never knew how to play this game I thought it was a racer not a Chase HQ clone will give it another try looks interesting.
lol, You arent the only one Keith. When I first played this one I was like "you have to do what!?" Now its gotten a little easier to manage but definitely one to try if you can!
Just out of interest, have you ever toyed with the idea of opening your own mini backstreet arcade/barcade? I guess you must have. I've seen videos where people have opened little arcades with the more rare and unique machines, maybe part arcade part museum type affair.
Thats a really good question and the answer is yes and no. I really wanted to open one here in Japan for the longest time but having to deal with the local restrictions, the mob who want their cut, and the uncertainty of if there would be a market here has stopped me from doing so. I wouldnt say its out of the question but I dont know if it would happen anytime soon. I would love to though if circumstances permitted it.
@@lukemorse1 Ah I see, good old red tape. I guess having a native business partner would make it all a bit easier, say, they handle the bar side of things, something like that. Cheers Luke!
Needless to say I have never seen this game. It looks great. I wonder how you calibrate the controller to what the game no doubt expects from its original controller
This game is not one that you come across everyday at all, thats for sure. The game doesnt seem to have a calibration setting, it really needs to have the potentiometers set to the right position for it to work out. Luckily pots are pretty cut and dry, if its set at 0 resistance or close to it, the controls will be in the neutral position. You can change things around from there.
@@lukemorse1 Unbeatable simple technology. Nice!
Bonjour Luke! I didn't know about this arcade racer at the time but a little later on emulation. It's always a great pleasure to see you make us rediscover these classics by playing on the original hardwares. Thanks and see you soon, buddy ;)
Bonjour Retrogamingapapa! There are many people who dont know about this one and Im glad I can show these off when I come across them. Some of the charm of these classics. Hope you are doing well and thanks again!
One of my favourites as a kid! great Chase HQ style game
I am here for some classic SEGA action.
Haha, and that's what you'll get!
Hope you enjoy it 😅
Well that's interesting Luke, this is heavy nostalgia right here.
Haha, I do what I can. This is the first time playing this fully since I got it wired up but I had never heard of it before that. It IS a beat one though
Thanks Jacob!
@@lukemorse1one love Luke ❤mad respect.
Also, when are we getting another game room update?
Unfortunately there are some people who get upset over game room videos so I have stopped doing them. Mostly things like having a duplicate copy of anything or showing off rare or valuable games doesn't set well with people. I currently dont have any plans on doing room updates but rather specific games I choose to do a game play video on.
@@lukemorse1 Why do you care so much about what other people think?
People genuinely enjoy your room tour videos.
@@zambitiber1394unfortunately as I mentioned, I have no plans to do room tour videos moving forward but I will still make unboxing, repair, and game play ones when possible.
@@lukemorse1 That's too bad.
Hard off video?
Honestly I havent visited Hard Off in a long time due to the price hikes and closing of several of them. On the plus side, there are a lot of other RUclipsrs both Japanese and from abroad that are covering them so I probably wont be doing many more of them.
@@lukemorse1 Why are you so negative now?
@@zambitiber1394?? Sorry if it comes off that way but I'm not trying to be negative. Compared to before, the prices are much more expensive than before so I haven't bought from there in a long time. I think it's great that other RUclipsrs are covering the good deals they get when they come across them which is nice to see and I'm promoting that. Finally, I don't have any Hard Off stores near me so I can't do videos on them even if I wanted to unfortunately. I'm just trying to explain the situation
@@lukemorse1 I'm sorry.
This game rips off some commercial music, stage 5 is Pump Up The Jam but slowed down. Maybe they got the files off Yuzo Koshiro. The music during the credits is The Riddle by Nik Kershaw
Woah!, I didn't realize that but when you mention it I can totally hear what you mean
I wonder if it was intentional
@@lukemorse1 It probably was, Streets of Rage had Pump up the Jam and others, SOR 2 has Shamen's Move Any Mountain
