#LOST SOUNDTRACK ANALYSIS (Michael Giacchino's score)
"I believe you've got something for me..."
In an episode that fails to provide a new theme for Sun and Jin and their 'no marry' counterparts, instead, huge callbacks are delivered in tiny little packages. Go watch it!
    ⌚📦🛃
So many years after the show's ending, Michael Giacchino's amazing soundtrack for LOST still has many, many secrets to uncover. Not only does every main character have their own theme music, but much like the interconnected writing of the show itself, Giacchino's score connects locations, scenes, emotions and conflicts in unbelievably brilliant ways. For the foreseeable future, I will be exploring Michael Giacchino's soundtrack from ABC's LOST in a weekly video, covering all episodes of the show and their musical connections to each other.

Huh, you're right. I didn't even think of it. No Jin/Sun X-theme. I felt like Giacchino did it for all of them. Shame they didn't get one. It would be fitting to get one similar to "Departing Sun" or the very subtle and Asian "Sun and Jin theme" we heard in "House of the Rising Sun".
03:25 - Did you just add the freighter door sound effect to the bathroom in the FS? :P

It was the PERFECT scene transition! 🙃😜

Next is Happily ever after, one of the best episodes of the season! I wonder if you will include Charlie's themes or you will include them on a Flashsideways character themes video, whatever the case I'm excited for it

"Happily Ever After" is great! My next video will be focused mainly on Desmond's flashsideways theme and Widmore's new theme. After I've finished "The End", I plan to do a video on the 'flashsideways' themes, which will include more from Charlie's scenes. 😁 Unfortunately, I have less time to work on these videos right now, which means they will be coming out a tiny bit less frequently. I want to do these final episodes justice!

Wow just another reason to to add to my recent thinking that "The Package" might be the sleeper worst episode of the show. It's almost not surprising that Giacchino didn't write Sun and Jin a new flashsideways theme cause they're not really given any kind of emotional arc in their FS plot unlike the rest of the characters. Their flashsideways is used primarily as a vehicle for the reappearance of Keamy, Mikhail, and Omar, which I liked a lot on first watch, but doesn't hold up much on rewatches.
Most of the on island stuff is pretty hokey too between the kidnapping of Jin and the Sun aphasia storyline (cause she ran into a tree??). On memory, the only worthwhile scenes are Jack's pep talk with Sun and Jin seeing pictures of Ji Yeon. I think they should have put Jin and Sun's reunion at the Temple and let their centric-episode then be about how they might have to learn to understand each other better after being separate for a whole 3 years. And then at least they wouldn't die after having just reunited an episode earlier.

I also have to add it's a shame Giacchino broke in this episode on keeping the FS theme's separate cause all he had to do was wait an episode and it would have been the perfect time to do it! Too bad he didn't know what was just around the corner.

Yeahh, this episode is not great. On its own, it's mostly harmless, but it is also worthless... and that does harm the season as a whole, given the fact that there's only 7 episodes left. Storylines like this is why the creators of the show were given an end date. 😅
Good point about the Sun and Jin reunion. I was actually thinking about that recently; I think Jin and Kate should have swapped roles at the end of "What Kate Does". Aldo would nearly get his revenge on Kate, but Claire ends up saving her life... only to later learn that Kate had been raising Aaron all that time. Meanwhile, Jin returns to the Temple safe and sound, until the Temple is attacked by the Smoke Monster. I think the stakes would have been higher if it had been Jin in there instead of Kate; there was no way Kate was going to die in that moment. And then, out of nowhere: Sun appears and finally reunites with her husband, long before they end up dying together. Anyway, that's all fan-fiction by now. 😜
The Jack and Sun scene holds up very well, and is actually even better on rewatch. Jack's relationship with Sun is very underrated, and his promise to her is especially heartbreaking knowing that they will both be dead in a couple of days.

I never was a big fan of this episode, and I suppose the lackluster score is evidence that maybe this was just a bit of a lackluster episode. Ultimately it's especially disappointing that Sun and Jin don't get an X theme, which is something I hadn't noticed before. I will say, I did love hearing that little hint of the freighter theme again, though!
