- We are celebrating the 60th Anniversary of Ken doll by unboxing this handsome Silkstone vintage reproduction designed by Bill Greening. For the entire month of March 2021, Life in Plastic will be having a Kenstravaganza! Several Ken dolls will be featured on the channel.
In this video, we will be taking a close look at the 60th Anniversary Silkstone Ken doll. This doll is wearing red cotton swim shorts and sandals. He also has a yellow terry cloth beach towel. Ken's flocked blond hair and nostalgic sculpt are reminiscent of the original 1961 doll. He would look great displayed next to the Mattel 75th Anniversary Silkstone Barbie doll.

this could be a future video idea-- what is the best way to wash dolls' hair? Or is that not advisable? I remember when I was a kid, my dolls' hair always got all tangled up from trying to wash it. Thank you!

I think he's fantastic! I'm a bit disappointed that they didn't do a repro stand for him like they did with the Barbie 60th anniversary doll however. Your redress would look fantastic with the repro Barbie nurse which you can find occasionally on ebay for a reasonable price. I just joined the W club this year so I don't really have a favorite yet, but I did order the Poppy Parker upgrade. I think she's gorgeous with her pink hair and retro sheath!

Thanks for the video! I like the Question of the Week feature. I don't think I'm going to get this Ken, despite how good yours looks in the doctor outfit. For the price, I would have liked him to come with more clothes or accessories. Maybe a question to consider for next time is, what other reproductions/re-releases would you like to see? (I'm still dreaming about a collector version of Earring Magic Ken!)

Ken looks very cute I haven’t opened mine yet. He doesn’t look as “hefty” as the other Silkstone Kens but I’m glad because I want to dress him in Vintage- Reproduction clothes. His hair has a very baby duck yellow look to it. LOL

Hi Greg! He would look fantastic in some vintage and reproduction clothes! His hair is on the yellow side, but I can live with it. 😆 I do giveaways probably every few weeks or months. I don’t have a set schedule for it. Whenever I hit a big milestone, or there’s something to celebrate, I do a giveaway. The next one will be a birthday giveaway. My birthday is in May. 😉💕

My perfect, ultimate dream doll hasn’t been made yet! I don’t know yet what that doll would look like. It would probably have very long hair. 😅 And it would have a very detailed outfit. 😉

I think this is a good reproduction and will indeed look good next the 75th Anniversary Barbie reproductions. That said, I probably won't buy him. I don't have many Ken dolls to begin with (i.e. not a Ken collector), and this one is just too simple and plain for my tastes. Maybe if I had vintage clothes, it would make more sense.
Wouldn’t it be great if Mattel actually released vintage reproduction fashions to go with this doll? I feel like more people would be interested in getting this Ken doll if he came with some fashions. 😊💕
@@LifeinPlasticDolls Definitely. With the price of vintage clothes on the secondary market, you would think Mattel could sell some vintage reproductions for both Barbie and Ken for a profit.
@@c.w.2000 Yes, vintage clothes can be expensive. I remember when they released "Let's Pay Barbie" a few years ago--the repro doll that came with four fashion packs. I wish they had done something similar with this Ken doll.
His face expression looks so numb... I would like to see "huge smile" on his face as i see many of other Ken dolls. I am Ken collector but i dont think to put this one in my collection coz of face :(

I liked the Anniversary Ken in the Doctor’s outfit but he’s just not for me. He looks way too skinny in just the swimsuit- talk about unrealistic body standards for children! Favorite Integrity doll? Currently it’s still Undercover Angel Poppy Parker... sure to change when the next doll arrives on my doorstep. 😉
