How interesting and relaxing to watch. Ken is very cute and you did a wonderful job restoring him. So nice to see all the great comments here. You deserve it. Congrats!🥰
The way you kinda hesitated when the first arm came off, it looked like you were not expecting it to pop off so easily 😅 poor old Ken, he’s trying his best
I think kinky Ken likes what you do 😂 Why can't current Kens be that pretty? I've been wanting to buy a Ken doll to assist my girls in photoshoots, but... I really don't like them 😨 This guy though! He looks pretty, handsome, gentle, friendly, mysterious... There isn't a girl in the world who isn't drawn to that 🤣🙈 You did amazing 💖
Thank you! 😂 I try my best to... please all my clients. I actually never liked male dolls, until I started doing some research on Ken and found all the outfits I would love to own irl and now I kinda get it haha
That flocking turned out beautiful. I have that Ken but, as a blonde. How do you fix a loose head on a Ken doll? Thanks for sharing your wonderful talents.❤️🤗
Thank you :) It's hard to tell, there could be a lot of things causing a loose head. The best quick fix is tying a few rubber bands on the neck peg to stabilize it
Wow! What a difference you made. I love that you cleaned him up like new and touched up all the missing paint spots. He is perfect now ! I would have loved to see how you attached his arms though. Maybe next time you will teach us how to do that. Thanks for sharing .❤❤❤
The hair flocking was fascinating. I wonder how well using a static grass applicator would look? You would be a little restricted for colour but it would look like a buzz cut I would think and a lot more ‘real’. It would be really interesting to try out if you know someone who does diorama modelling.
Your work is simply gorgeous. Did you know there is a high demand for goth boy dolls? My friend wanted me to pass the message to a talented artist. We don't say much because of discrimination within the doll community. You would make some serious money. Much respect to you. ❤❤
Wow! What a transformation! This video was so satisfying to watch. I didn’t realize flocking could be applied like this! I might have to try it on a vintage Ken! Thanks for sharing!
As a G1 pony collector, it's always so jarring seeing doll restoration use benzyl peroxide. We used to do it a while back, but the long term effects eventually came back to bite us. Ponies are porous enough that you can never truly remove it, and it'll just keep bleaching the spot forever. Not fun! But with dolls it's usually totally fine. It's really interesting seeing two things you'd think are similar take to it so differently, y'know? He came out really nice!!!
And no two dolls are the same either!! I was working on this project and another simultaneously. This one took about half a day, while the other one is still going on, months after (not to mention the other one had to be put through like 3 torture methods to even get any hint of a result) 😂
Timely for me, as I wait for my 3 flocked headed Kens shipping in, from 3 different people. I have book-mending waterproof PVA glue- if it's still alive 😂
Wow. You got him so clean. I have him too. I reflocked his hair but used mod podge for the adhesive. Saw someone else do it. Has stayed really well. Did you need to be bleach his head in denture cleaner ?
Another great insightful post of yours I can use DDW I have a vintage brunette like yours which needs reflocking I have the flocking but he has a big glob of dried white glue on his head from the original flocking and I' m wondering Should I try to steam it or just leave it and put the fresh glue on it when I reflect I know you don't do a lot of restoration but your sites are the most helpful for these vintage dolls that I have seen All your posts are fun!
That would take me way too long, plus most of the stuff I got years ago so I have no clue 😅 but if you need help with something in particular you can DM me on Instagram
We all know about weird Barbie but don’t hear much about weird Ken Also, you can tell whatever energy is attached to these dolls radiates with joy, when the doll is restored to its former glory
I have cleaned and reset a crap ton of Barbie's hair... even done rerooting, but I am so scared to do this! How long did you wait between coats of flocking? Also, if you don't mind, whose flocking did you use? I have probably 50 + Ken's that all need some flocking help... I just got one that is perfect but one little spot completely missing! Since I have been scared to do this, a lot of my flocked Ken's end up in outfits with hats, ha! But I think sometimes even Ken's that weren't played with a lot will have this problem just from rubbing inside a case... when the back of their head has a bald spot, I call it Ken pattern baldness, LOL!
It is quite daunting at first, but once you get the hang of it it becomes so easy! I usually wait 12 hours between coats. (Most times, if you try and do it before the glue is 100% dry it will become a mess and things will begin to slide, not pretty) The flocking I used is from Restoredoll.com, they have a set with all the hair colors and each tub can give you 5/6 complete flocked heads! Pattern baldness Ken 😂 well, he is in his 60s!
GREAT JOB & VIDEO! I have a Ken doll from 1962 and an Alan doll from 1964, after 24 years they lived with me, Ken's head, arm and legs became significantly darker and oily than when I first got him. The same happened to Allan to a lesser degree. Is there any known reversal process to minimaze the current state or slow it, if not able to stop the process? Much Appreciated. Thank YOU! 🙏PEACE
Unfortunately not that I know of... You can somewhat minimize the greasy, dark aspect by scrubbing it with a degreasing soap and fix the discoloration by putting it in some water with some denture tablets, but as the plasticizer is essentially slowly disintegrating, it will eventually go back to that state..
Hi, I so enjoyed your skill at doll and video creation. I just got an Allan doll to be with my 1962 Ken so I was looking to see how to clean him up and found your wonderful videos.

Ok. I have a Sculpted painted hair Ken with a loose head and loose swingy arms. Legs are good. If I pop the head in boiling water, same with arms, it will restore the shape and not be loose? I have another Ken with a broken neck...I have the piece, tried to superglue it. Held until I dipped it in hot water to reattach. My bad. Didn't know. Now I do. Question....if I re glue and not dip in hot water, will it hold? It is also the sculpted painted hair. Both found at yard sale. Perfect face and hair paint. I really want these handsome guys to be restored. Thanks!
I've heard of people using a specific type of super glue called plastic surgery, which should theoretically melt the two pieces back together and make them whole again. Hope this helps :)
Thank you! He looks like he's had a few too many, smoked some questionable substances and rolled around in the mud to reconnect with his past life dog spirit.
1:14 my jaw dropped 🤣 I’m new to collecting Ken and just got one wondering what’s the best method for cleaning and was so scared. So it’s safe to fully submerge the doll in water? I got an Allan at a vintage market and am scared to ruin him. If anyone has any tips or suggestions that would be much appreciated 🤍

Great restoration, enjoy all your projects. I find using a small mesh strainer works very well when applying flock.

What!! Vintage Ken looks way better than modern Ken. More realistic. I had a vintage Barbie from the 1960, but it got stolen. 😢
