  • How to recreate a vintage style Landcruiser Toll Roll. Back in the 60's and 70's Toyota Landcruiser's came with a Factory Tool Roll that allowed you do so some minor repairs or maintenance. It's always a good idea to carry a car tool kit.

For the last few months, I’ve been thinking about going to tool rolls to eliminate the jingles when running forest roads. Thanks for the helpful vid!

If you get a ratcheting 14mm wrench you'll basically have a driver. A bead or stop on the nut will keep your wrench from sliding around.
You can ditch the screw drivers and use a 4 or 6 in one screw driver. We call em "The orange handled screw driver" around my home. One of those bit drivers with umpteen bits in the handle are useful too! I keep one in my junk yard hunting kit.
A relay or two and more hose clamps would be a valuable addition! When I change my headlights I keep the one that didn't burn out in my glove box.

Actually had the same tool roll now for three cars, mostly tools I inherited. Works like a charm! Can really recommend.

You used scissors and side cutters to make the tool roll, I think I would put some of the in the kit too

Not carrying a ratchet blows my mind

True. I did add sockets and a ratchet later on. The point of the video was to sort of mimic an old school Toyota tool roll, keep the costs down and not care too much of it got stolen. Going used or waiting for a Harbour Freight sale/coupon event would save money. Cheers.

Even replacing a starter is , what, four bolts and two or three nuts for wires..... A ratchet is good. But the one minute of twisting nuts and bolts vs a ratchet doesn't matter once every few years on a breakdown. Ratchets, they get dusty and rusty and need to be cleaned every few years whether you use it or not.
