Kellogg's Frosted Flakes are available in Germany under the name "Frosties" (and have been forever). They appear to have a different formulation without BHT here. We also have powdered mashed potatoes, they just can't contain BHA. Apparently, food companies can do without these chemicals if they have to.
Of course they can, BHT and BHA have no conclusive studies linking them to harmful effects, they are banned on "possibility" alone. They are simply more affordable then alternatives.

15:05 - a rare sighting of Will laughing. We've seen him smile before, but laugh like this? An event as rare as the alignment of the stars, and I'm all for it 😂
Really thankful for this Will. The illusion of choice of food in America is really upsetting, and there's a noticeable difference. I love the moderation you preach, and there's even more flexibility when buying quality, but it's really sad how many people don't even get that option for time or money constraints.
Look for Canadian brands instead of American ones; they're usually held to stricter standards and don't have as many chemicals (ex: Canadian Smarties compared to American M&Ms).
I love the jokes that catch me off guard and make me do a double take and rewind. The editing is amazing, I can tell a lot of blood sweat and tears went into this.
It’s nice to see how much more comfortable Katie has gotten in these videos over the past while. When she first started making appearances it seemed like she wanted nothing to do with it lol
As a European I have to say that we have a lot of these foods. Probably in a different formulation. We have Frosted Flakes, Ritz crackers and powdered mashed potatoes. Probably a lot more of those items as well. The chicken thing is also probably due to diseases more so than the chlorine.
US commercial poultry farms have issues with salmonella (mostly due to density), so sterilizing chicken and eggs became the norm. And yeah, y'all probably get slightly different formulations.
I lived in France for a year but am from the US. All of your versions of those foods are different, and a quite a bit less "processed" tasting. All the food in France seems to go bad much quicker (less preservatives I'm guessing), and eating garbage food in France makes you feel much less "gross" after eating it. I think the worst difference I noticed was in produce and baked goods. US produce that is available at big "chain" grocers often is much worse. Produce in France still often has dirt on it. Good food obviously exists in the US, but you need to shop at farmers markets and co-ops to get what is available at any G20 in Paris.
It's exactly that. Chlorine chicken is banned because it means it comes from producers that can't guarantee good hygiene standards otherwise. Regular chicken would be allowed to import but it's not cost effective to do so. That's why we don't have chlorine chicken here.
Eat Frosted Flakes in an 8 oz coffee cup. It perfectly portions out a serving of cereal while using less milk when you only fill half the cup with milk to 3/4 cup of cereal. It will keep cereal from getting soggy to air too, as you eat it from the bottom up. I love adding peanut protein powder to the milk and eating Coco Rice Krispies this way😋
I live in Japan and saw instant mashed potatoes on the store shelves last week. A Japanese product, not an import. Either they've eliminated the ban, or they've found a way to avoid whatever chemical they didn't like in the production of it.
context really matters. the reason certain ingredients are banned can be a huge range. for instance they could ban an ingredient made in america so that the equivalent ingredient made in europe is not crushed in the market. most of these ingredients are fine or even exist in other countries just under a different name.
@@Novafanyou're quite wrong, food regulations in general outside of the US are very strict and contain very few chemical additives when compared to US foods. They just aren’t getting the information they need or they are and don’t realize how important it is. Forgot to add that they are high protein with double protein options 💪
When you start to look into what you're eating you can uncover all sorts of surprises. Such as chewing gum and blueberry (artificially flavored) muffins are banned in other countries because of an additive that is found in antifreeze.
I just want to say, your videos inspired me to start getting better at dieting and working out more. I work out every day now and watch what I eat a lot more. Thank you, your videos are awesome :)
I've lived in Britain and Spain and we can have almost all of these Turns out you can make the same products still taste great without mixing in harmful chemicals
Powdered mash in the UK is literally just dehydrated potato + a herb (usually rosemary) I dread to think what’s in those ones there for them to be banned! I have carpal tunnel so mashing potatoes is out of the question for me 😅
I checked: it's only one brand of instant potatoes that has a chemical in it that is banned. "Hungry Jack Mashed Potatoes, just know you're also getting a side of Butylated Hydroxyanisole (BHA)." And yeah instant mashed potatoes is delicious. Potatoes are the easiest thing to rehydrate. Will didn't add enough water.
Mtn Dew, along with various other citrus sodas, don't actually contain bromine anymore. It was taken out of Pepsi and Coca-Cola products in 2014, although some generic citrus sodas still contain it.
I mean, I think banning powder mashed potatoes out of all of it is probably the most egregious. All it is is dehydrated potato, flakes. I like it when I mix it in with a real potato. Just because it's kind of hard to get all the moisture out of a real potato and get that kind of consistency smooth. So I'll put like a baked potato mash it in there with the instant, potato flakes. Pretty good with lots of butter.
So many people have grown up on instant mashed potatoes because it’s cheap, you can feed a family of 4 with $1-$2 worth of dehydrated potatoes. And the brand you got wasn’t the best 😂 I grew up on Idahoan it was great! Unfortunately not every family can afford to mash half a bag of potatoes for one dinner and that’s not including the cost of milk. And for a family who doesn’t have money, a lot of times the parents are depressed and neglect making less processed meals. So it’s not ONLY laziness, but they don’t have the mindset/energy to do so. ALSO not the case for everyone but some people just don’t feel the need to feed themselves and their family healthy foods bc they lack love and compassion and view children as burdens. (Like a rat that they feel bad for. They feed it the cheapest food only so it won’t starve, and they’re only spending pennies.) Quite sad but there’s parents like that out there. Sorry for the rant, love the videos! I just thought it was funny y’all haven’t tasted instant potatoes before! 💕
thank you for this comment! I was going to say that people still eat these foods (rather than buying “better” items) because they’re dirt cheap and that’s sometimes all people can afford.
@@katiesam1996 absolutely! I’m not sure where they came from money wise but id assume they weren’t poor, never having instant potatoes so it’s probably not something they think about and assume people only eat them because they’re lazy and it’s fast to make.
Then they shouldn't breed, their bloodline shouldn't be adding to the gene pool if they can't buy potatoes ones of the cheapest foods on the planet. The food of the Irish Famine. A food that I grow in my garden because they can be grown with near no effort or input.
By the way instant mashed potatoes DO exist here in Italy. I'm guessing the American ones are banned (if they even are) because of something else that's in them, not because of the potato flakes themselves.
Maybe it’s just my humor, but Will always be havin me dyin from his small jokes💀 I’ve been watching him for maybe a year or 2 and he’s probably the one of the only fitness influencers with a personality

Best couple on youtube - both so real in front of the camera. Love your videos :)
8:39 As we know chlorine at high enough levels can and will cause suffocation and respiratory distress and arrest. So yeah i hate my country sometimes
1 year later still hit it?
It’s amazing what Will puts his body through to help us live better. Thanks for the amazing content, Will!
The voice with the Twinkie made me spit up my green tea 🤣 well done
"Two bowls it's like a plate but deep" - the more you know with Will😂.
Those Pop Tart flavors are hilarious, Claritin and Leatger got me.
So many people have grown up on instant mashed potatoes because it’s cheap, you can feed a family of 4 with $1-$2 worth of dehydrated potatoes. And the brand you got wasn’t the best 😂
I grew up on Idahoan it was great!
Dude you was brought up eating instant mash 😂 who the fuck can't afford potatoes
thank you Will for defining what a plate is, I can rest easy now

I found this channel because of Will. Stayed because of Katie. This girl is hilarious.
@willtennyson I’m guessing this ain’t you bro? ☝️
“Two bowls, it’s like a plate but deep.” I laughed so hard at this for some reason
Love the "Dill pickle" flavour of pop tart the editor snuck in. Always a good laugh combined with solid information.
and the grass block 😂
Having a bad day at work. Watching this on my 15. Wills videos never disappoint 😂. Another banger
Will’s body cells: NOT AGAIN
Maybe it’s just my humor, but Will always be havin me dyin from his small jokes💀 I’ve been watching him for maybe a year or 2 and he’s probably the one of the only fitness influencers with a personality
1:07 so whats your favorite Nut then? 💀
Australian here, we actually do have powdered mash potatoes here.
I'm so glad you made this particular video. There's so many ingredients in "processed" foods and God knows what added to preserve "fresh" fruits and veggies that we just don't know the amount of "bad" stuff we put into our bodies. I follow "Flav City" with Bobby Parrish, the man is walking encyclopedia of "poisons" in our foods. You two are just too cute.
Will's since of humor never disappoints
