We went around to our local stores and found 9 different meatless vegan turkey alternatives for the holidays.
Of course we had to put them through our taste test and see which ones are best!
They ranged from 9 minutes cook time to an hour and 45 minutes and ranged in price from $4 to $20

This is my fourth year vegan. I've seen the small field roast one and I've never tried it so I'm so glad you made those video. My question is which one would you recommend smoking? We smoke turkeys during the holidays.

It wasn’t bad. I enjoyed it. I personally prefer Tofurky over the Field Toast or the Trader Joe’s. Hope you find something you love as explore.

This is my fourth vegan Thanksgiving and I still haven't tried any of the vegan turkey's. I have always been a sides and stuffing girl even before I went plant-based. Looks good though!!
Honestly if we didn't do this video, we probably wouldn't have either haha. Give us mac and cheese, stuffing and mashed potatoes and we are good

Hello, I enjoy watching you both. You add entertainment and information. I literally value you guys' options on what to buy for lunch and dinner and run to buy your top favorites. I tried the Field roast celebration with the traditional bread stuffing and Gardein holiday roast and I was surprised with both, so I'm going to make both for Thanksgiving and save for leftovers after thanksgiving. I’ve tried the aldi turkey-less breast and the tofurkey and love both. I didn’t notice the same mustard/Mayonnaise flavors that you guys described. I’m intrigued to try the other ones you guys reviewed. Appreciate this review video!

I’ve had the Gardein roast for he last three thanksgiving holidays. I really like it.
My number one fave brand for vegan meats is Field Roast. Amazing hamburgers and all sorts of sausages. But love Tofurky roast cooked in the fireplace, just like s’mores. The taste is really good. Much better than in the stove. Love their deli meats.

Thanks for doing this taste test and including so many options! Really happy to see you had both Gardein large and mini roasts since I've tried the minis before and always wondered how the large roast compared. I might give the Trader Joe's one a try this year and make my own mushroom gravy instead of using theirs.
Glad to see some NJ vegans here! I grew up in Bordentown but moved to VT 7 years ago. Definitely not as many options up here but luckily some of my local stores do a good job at carrying a few good ones. The Gardein is sold out in my area, which is why I'm determined to get my had on one eventually. That said, we'll enjoy Tofurkey. Great video!

Thanks for doing this. Our household has been so disappointed with all the "turkey" roasts we've tried, so we just do a different dish entirely during the holidays.
I bought 2 frozen turkey-less roasts at Whole Foods recently and I got the Whole Foods 365 version and the Gardein Holiday Roast. We had the Gardein Holiday Roast for Thanksgiving along with my Mushroom Gravy which is a combo of Sweet Potato Soul and Jane Esselstyn's recipes and it was PERFECT! Thank you for this video! Gonna try the TJ's roast for sure!

We had the TJs roast last year and I thought it was a 6.5/10, pretty good. The other night I was craving Thanksgiving, so I bought the Gardein turkey cutlets with gravy, not one that you tried, and they are pretty darn ok. I have also had the Field Roast Hazelnut cranberry roast en croute and it was REALLY good. This year I am going to make a lentil loaf with cranberry sauce wrapped in puff pastry, always tastes better homemade.
We heard the field roast cranberry one is great but we couldn't find it

I tried the Field Roast last year and I really liked it.
I had the trader Joe's for Thanksgiving and Christmas last year and it's so good. The gravy was good, too. I had to add a little salt to and whisk it. Thanks for going over the allergens. I'm allergic to soy, as on soy protein or isolate. I can have soy sauce and that's what in the gravy. Most of the others had soy protein, so I haven't tried those. I need to head over and grab one!!

Living in EU I am not very familiar with all the traditions of Thanksgiving but I feel like these would be awesome for Christmas :D I will not be able to get my hands on any of these but getting some inspiration is always welcome! My local Walmart has a whole freezer display of Gardien brand tofukey, I'm trying to slowly go vegan so this year is going to be my first vegan Friendsgiving meal. Thank you so much for the review!
Our Walmart had the Gardien roasts on sale for $8.20 yesterday. I hope my family likes it because I bought two.

We have tried Trader Joe’s and the Gardein one. I love the Trader Joe’s one and my partner loves the Gaardein one. We do Gardein for Thanksgiving, and Trader Joe’s for Christmas. I want to taste the Field Roast after seeing your review.
that's a good compromise! The field roast is def more like a ham
This was super helpful, thanks!! I’ve had the tofurky roast and just felt like the look of it was a bit off putting. I’ve also had a field roast one that was wrapped in pastry with a cranberry filling and it was really delicious! This year I think I’ll try either the field roast with the bread stuffing or the gardein, those sound the most intriguing to me.

The hazelnut cranberry roast by field roast has got to be my favorite thanksgiving day roast. My non vegan family members also love this too

The Hazelnut Cranberry Roast has been my favorite for the past 5 years 🙌🏾... and I usually get it from Sprouts
I made the TJ’s version today and instead of making the gravy as gravy, I put it all on top for the last 20 minutes of cooking. I loved it and it was only $13.

My favorite is the field roast mini, this is also my third thanksgiving and I tried the mini last year, and it was great, only vegan in the family, anyways that is the only one that I will purchase. Thanks for sharing your view on each one! Oh my cooking is that I pan/skillet fry mine for maybe a couple of minutes to brown it some to my liking and no gravy, still quite good.

My old neighborhood had a Natural Food Store that labeled their prices the same way! Lol..i despise Tofurkey...had it 5 years ago and wont go back. Ive always rocked with Field Roast!🙌🏽🙌🏽
This will be my first vegan Thanksgiving! Funnily enough, in December before I did Veganuary, I was dreading what being vegan would mean for holidays. Now, I'm excited to try a vegan roast! And my mom might help me make some vegan sides as well ☺️ hopefully I can convince some people to try it with me 😋
For the first time my whole Omni family did all vegan dishes with us. It’s been mostly vegan there last two years. We did potluck style this year and my brothers girlfriend actually made the greenbean casserole fully from scratch! Everything was so good.
Last year my mom thought her husband wanted the green bean casserole with the usual dairy cream of mushroom and cheese on top, but that ended up being the only thing he didn’t eat! So she didn’t even bother this year 🤣 I tried the Trader Joe’s for the first time and enjoyed it, but my daughter didn’t love it

I have a feeling my husband and I will be going to his parents for thanksgiving and they are very much meat and cheese and milk in EVERYTHING.. now at least I can bring something for myself besides a side or two. love the little Gardein minis, but the Trader Joe's roast is the best of all I have tried. And the TJ's roast comes with a recipe on the box for cooking it in the oven with onions, carrots and potatoes. And THAT is how you do it. Good review, and thanx for your efforts.

I'm trying the Gardein roast but mine said stuffed turk'y roast as opposed to Holiday roast. Not sure they're the same ,just different name in different area? Looking forward to it! I had the Gardein turk'y cutlets a couple of years ago to supplement a kind of sad vegan dinner for two I purchased. It made everything better!

After seeing that vegan whole turkey _thing_ you may have heard of in the cooler of my local health food store a few days ago[shudder], I was thinking I may have to do just sides this year. I just found your channel. And as a fairly long time vegan (like maybe, 1990? -- I just shocked myself), I found your descriptions to be excellent and worth listening to! While I've only had four or five of the products you tried (partly because of availability where I currently live, plus my daughters have some preferences [though they aren't vegan]), but at least I know I did well with my choices. I primarily like Gardein's Holiday Roast and the and the Field Roasts two roasts as close seconds. The Gardein "cutlet" with gravy makes sense for the one vegan that shows up and the host isn't sure what to serve. Tofurky...that's the old standby found at more grocery stores than Gardein, I think. (The story of the founder of Tofurky is interesting, too.)

This was really good. I’m definitely going to buy that Trader Joe roast but since I’m cheap, I’ll wait until right after Thanksgiving for the sale. It looked really crispy and delicious.
Could you guys review vegan store ice creams? There doesn’t appear to be much of a variety in major grocery stores.
The Whole Foods 365 vegan roast was a bit! "Real" turkey like flavor. It didn't taste like a vegan hot dog at all. It smelled so good, just like a "real" turkey while baking in my oven. As far as the gravy it tasted like the typical nutritional yeast gravy which I absolutely hate. So I added so sauteed onions a bit of soy sauce and some onion and garlic powder to it. My additional seasoning improve the gravy flavor. I highly recommend. Thanks for testing for us ☺️
