I found this new avocado oil one at Whole Foods the other day in burger and ground forms. I used the grounds to make my meal prep pasta for the week and I instantly tasted a difference. I agree that it tastes way better! I typically use Impossible grounds and patties for pasta and burgers, but I might start using this Beyond one now!

Avocado oil is high in monounsaturated fats, vitamin E, and antioxidants. Coconut oil has a high saturated fat content.
Avocado oil is a healthier option than coconut oil because of its fat profile and antioxidant properties. 👀🤷‍♀️

My wife went vegan about 5 years ago and during the process she picked up a medical condition call interstitial cystitis. It's a pretty complex condition and you can look it up if you want to. Anyway, she found out that one of the main contributing factors is Sunflower oil/lecitin which is very common in all foods but found in many vegan foods. This is pretty cool that they came out with this avocado oil. We will have to try it out!

Avocado oil is healthier than coconut oil. Coconut oil can raise cholesterol levels and has a medium chain triglyceride fat that is more troublesome for people who have high lipids. So much better choice for health! I’ll feel better eating it.

Both Beyond and Impossible have new formulas out recently. Impossible is branded as lite. I think they’re both trying to address some of the complaints that have been generally made about the burgers… too much sodium and saturated fat. I’ve always liked the Beyond burger. I can’t say I really remember Impossible outside of the Whopper, which is good.

i like the Beyond Meat products. But i agree sometimes it has a smell. Maybe its the coconut in the classic burger. I absolutely love their breakfast sausage patty. I also agree i can only have them every once in a while because the fat and sodium is a bit high for me overall . Great review thanks!

We got our hands on a pack of this and made an incredible taco meat filling with aromatics, charred tomatoes, stock, adobo, and a bunch of plant-based umami bombs. It was incredible. Really far above the original formula. More neutral, juicier, and savory across the board.

Thanks so much for your reviews! I'd love to see you do reviews of various seitan-based products. I've found them to have a lot fewer ingredients than some of the other products out there, though I do understand that people who have issues with gluten couldn't eat them. I've tried Upton's and No Evil Foods and really loved the products from both companies.

  • @JasonCoulston

I would be hyped to try this new one. There is an aroma on the regular version I don’t love. And generally I’d rather just have vegetables over protein isolates and factory food, but you need these types of indulgences in your life from time to time. If you want to try making it yourself in bulk, the folks over at Modernist Pantry have a DIY version. Which is way cheaper, obviously, than packaged product.

I don't think that the core audience is vegans necessarily. I always consider it more of a transitional food and since I transitioned long before these products were around, they don't appeal to me.
My meat eating family eats that at home but I never touch it. It upsets my stomach due to the fat content. I don't have a gallbladder and was sick for 3 days after eating ½ a beyond burger. I am also more wfpb for my health
I haven't eaten meat in 30 years and the replacements don't appeal to me but I am so grateful that they exist because I do believe that they help people go vegan. While my family has not gone vegan, these products help me keep my house vegan with fewer arguments. Lol

Yep, I have eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) and one of the worst foods to induce choking is meat. I’m trying to figure out whether a plant-based sub will do the same since it’s the texture that’s the problem, without actually testing it myself… lol Been WFPB since last Sept and haven’t choked once! I also have to watch fat, luckily less so than when I had a gall bladder, but it’s still an issue somewhat and so much packaged vegan food has WAY too much fat!

    • @1auntievenom
      @1auntievenom Месяц назад

@leapintothewild I am so happy to hear that you made the switch. It is seriously the best thing that I have ever done.
Not to make light of your condition, my mother suffers with this and I can't imagine always being fearful when eating. The thought of eating animals makes me choke.

I have bought this version as the 16 oz block. The ground is stickier, and therefore more difficult to form into patties. I oiled my hands to form each patty and that helped. Just bought this yesterday, and was happy to see that the price is the same, because Beyond initially said it would cost more. I appreciate that they've replaced the coconut oil with avocado oil, which _is_ healthier. I had the first one yesterday, and don't know how I feel about it. I like the identical priced reduced-fat Impossible burger, but it does have coconut oil, which I'm trying to avoid. I'm curious to see what you two think . . . . ah, you approve. But I'm also the type of person who reads all the words on vegan products because I have a friend who is soy intolerant and vegan/veggie-curious, plus never hurts to have some nutrition facts ready when someone finds out I'm vegan & suddenly becomes the health police.
But for burgers, it depends on my mood. Lately I've been all for veggie patties. When I want something that truly tastes like meat, Impossible. Sometimes I just crave a Beyond burger too. Really curious to try the NotCo one though! Everyone seems to love it.

I actually just tried this burger, and mehhhh. My omni hub said it needs salt. We def prefer Impossible, esp if Beyond replaces the original with this.
I’ve been vegan almost 17 years, and I remember when Beyond Meat sold chikin strips that were awesome, and I miss that product.

I'm so happy to hear that the new version is good. My husband and Mt best friend both never liked Beyond Burgers because of the coconut oil smell. My husband also Saud he could taste the coconut, and he hates coconut. I live that the new ones are lower in sodium and saturated fat. Thanks, guts! Here in Metri Detroit both Kgoger and Meijer have them. They charge $6.99 for the nee version, and $5.99 for the old version. As for Impossible versus Beyond, I prefer Beyond because Impossible has more u healthy ingredients. That "heme" that the chemically engineered for Impossible had a hard time getting FDA approval. That's pretty bad.

    Feedback from a film/TV professional:
Your videos would benefit from conciseness, which is achieved by preparing your words before pressing record. Editing out the slow parts would be similarly beneficial. Your viewers don't want to watch you figure out what you're going to say in real time.
Good content, though, and I look forward to seeing more of you two in the future! 😊

I LOVE how you pointed out that marketing trick that's why I don't support these plant-based products. At the end of the day, they are more processed than eating meat.

I don't necessarily agree it's more processed. I think vegan and non-vegan companies all do deceptive marketing, but I wish they didn't

All meat is ultra processed...from the moment the animal is born, even in the womb, many processes to feed and grow it and the hormones and anti biotics injected, the weening from the mother, the slaughter then the grinding, them mixing the ginds with other ground up animals and adding the pink slime and artificial dyes to make the meat red to appear fresh, the packaging and preserving and storage and shipping...etc .pretty processed

3:08 fat comparison is definitely meant for the meat eaters. especially in my grocery stores they place it in next to the real meat which thoroughly annoys me to no end 😕

I agree with her about the deceptive packaging. Of course, Beyond wants new customers, but at the end of the day the bulk of their customers are probably repeat buyers. I believe (someone should correct me if the statistics say differently) that move of their sales are people that are already vegan or vegetarian. Therefore, I think it is misleading to their established customer base to misrepresent the nutrition information of the product compared to their other products.
