I'm glad Good Planet made this product line because it has much lower saturated fat than coconut-based vegan cheeses. For people with naturally high cholesterol, this is helpful for trying to keep LDL cholesterol down!

I got the Tuscan Herb cubes recently. I thought they were good, but didn’t want to eat them on their own. I made a Christmas tree shaped pull apart bread. I stuffed the bread with a Field Roast pepperoni and one of those cheese cubes. It was really delicious! My omnivore husband really liked it.

My family and I are lactose intolerant. We have been looking for a vegan cheese that is good. We cannot eat what is on the market because the coconut oil seems to dominate the taste. Honestly they taste like crayons or birthday candles. This causes me to be excited and hoping we can get a hold of this cheese that has an olive oil base. Going to be looking for this. Thanks for the review.

Happy New Year! Bloopers were great in this one, LOL! I've only had this brand's regular ol' cheese and was suspicious about this product line because . . . well, why didn't anyone try olive oil as a base before, since olive oil is so abundant? I'll seek these out if they're on sale. Thanks for posting, and best wishes for a great 2024 to you and your family : )

Thank you for promoting veganism in such an approachable way!
You mention entertaining non vegans- might I request that you do a video about your experiences doing that? I recently hosted my non vegan family for Christmas Eve and it was soooo stressful hoping they'd be ok with a vegan feast. I think it went well but did catch some folks being apprehensive about some of the dishes served, and I intentionally stayed away from tofu/tempeh to limit the "weirdness" factor.

I actually love that you guys were considering different things when it came to how well the cheeses melted. You should TOTALLY do a comparison with shredded cheeses, not just for flavor, but primary for how well they melt. You could also include butters and even cream cheeses. We all want to know what will, not necessarily mimic no-vegan dishes but, work well for the textures we're trying to achieve when we prepare a snack or meal. You should also keep doing the comparisons from a vegan and non-vegan standpoint. If you're a new vegan or you're cooking for people who aren't it would be nice to know what to expect and if you're going to be able to mimic a flavor or texture. Seasoned vegans are always on the hunt for better and better products, but we have a better sense of what's out there and what it's like. It's SO nice that you guys show us new things but, again, great for newbies or non-vegans to have an idea what they're purchasing, because as you know well, some things are pretty great and some taste like cardboard and shouldn't be on store shelves.
Thanks for being our guinea pigs and giving us a heads up!

@Make It Dairy Free Happy New Year! I’m the opposite. Wasn’t really a dairy cheese lover. However, I personally enjoy the taste and flavor of vegan cheese on its own. So does my non-vegan family and friends dairy cheese lovers; those I’ve given a slice to; has liked it asked for another slice. As well as my lil godson, who is not vegan and a very picky eater. Vegan cheeses I use are Chao, Violife, Daiya, and Follow Your Heart. I’ve never tried or heard of Good Plant brand. Thanks for the review. Blessings! 🙂

I don't like olives as well.....until, I watched ATK and he said if you don't like olives try this one. He said to try a Castelvetrano, so I bought some by Mezzetta and he was right, they are so good, so buttery. I haven't found a store bought vegan cheese that I really like. I liked a Trader Joe's shredded soy cheese blend that they use to have, not totally vegan, it had casein but it was lactose free. Thanks for reviewing this one for us.

My experience is that most vegan cheeses melt better if exposed to lower heat over a slightly longer time rather than high heat very quickly Also, some moisture around it helps as well or sometimes spraying first very lightly with a little oil. So when melting cheese on a vegan burger, I will throw a little water in the pan and then quickly throw a lid on it to trap the steam. I have also seen folks sprinkle in a little tapioca flour on shreds that don't melt/pull well, but haven't tried that yet. I tend to make my own cheese because I can get some more flavor and not add so much fat. But it's nice to have commercial cheese available for convenience.

Mozzarella taste is so hard to duplicate in vegan cheese because it is really dependent on that pure milky flavor, as Andrew pointed out, because it is not fermented or flavored really. Vegan cheese can hit the meltability mark, but not sure how close to the flavor it will ever come. But you know what, you can't totally replicate a lot of meat-based products, you just develop a taste for the vegan versions which shouldn't make up a major part of your diet anyways if you are shooting for whole foods, plant based. Like that the Good Planet is not loaded with saturated fat like so many commercial vegan cheeses are and will probably try them out at some point. Like these reviews because I hate spending money on a new (to me) product that may be terrible, not to say we will totally agree in the end, but it is a starting point.
