I decided to mix up my back routine a couple months ago and add these in, my back has made huge progress. You’re missed very much John R.I.P
I remember when he first posted a video about these, I incorporated them in my back regime years ago and it’s my favorite back movement of all time. Miss you John
Thank you for keeping John's channel current! I only discovered him recently and am so saddened to hear he passed. He comes across as so wise, kind, gentle.
These videos and the expertise are priceless.
Rest in peace John 💙🙏
A good family man also.
Such a wealth of knowledge John had. It is so good to still be able to see his videos. Such a great talent with super skills :)
Meadow rows are a standard in my back workout routine!, thank you brother john💯💪💣💥
One of the best back exercises. Love it
RIP King 🤴
when you realize your small apartment complex gym has a barbell and a landmine and this video pops up *excellent*
I love the Meadows Row. I use it almost every back day. Of course, I also use John's programs 😆. But I'm serious, I love the Meadows Row!
I been trying to get my form right on these for a while, my bar setup is a bit wonky, this will help big time.
I have a little handle that slips over the end of the bar. It helps a ton on these and is much better that trying to grab the slick fat end of the bar
C’mon folks. Check your work. Edit. The man deserves to have his name spelled correctly in the title. M E A D O W S. One of the greatest competitors and trainers ever. Oh, and these are fantastic rows for the upper back.
I have done the Meadows rows for a few years now as my main back exercise along with my usual pulldowns, cable rows and pullovers etc. I used to struggle with a flat and thin back but these have done wonders for me.
The other barbell variant he showed in some videos is a real killer for the lats. Highly recommended!
Thanks John. My only restriction is that by doing one side at a time tends to place torque on lower back with much oblique involvement and a thickening of the waist. RIP Brother...
🔥🔥🔥 Legend
Top of calf and back of knee is thee Drive babe. 😮
Miss you brother 😢
💪
I love the way this exercise feels but my grip always fails long before my back does. It’s very difficult gripping the fat part of the bar and yes I have tried straps but they don’t help. I have the kind where you just wrap them around the bar a few times and then grab the strap. Can anyone recommend some better straps to use for back workouts? Rip John. I true legend and the sport of bodybuilding and you are greatly missed!
You could try the "figure-8-lifting-straps" like Eddie Hall used to have in his 500kg deadlift.
But when you tie the normal, standard lifting strap correctly, that means tied around your lowest part of the hand, not your wrist and the free end coming out on the opposite side of your thumb and wrapped around the bar same way like your thumb (in fact a lifting-strap replaces a second thumb) than it's a rock solid grip.
And don't forget the end of a olympic bar is a "fat bar" which is used widley to enhance your forearm and grip strenght so try as much you can to lift without any aid. Your forearms will thank you...
Thanks for the reply! I don’t think I’m using the straps correctly because they really don’t feel like they’re helping at all. I’m going to use them exactly how you described and see if it makes a difference.
💪🏼👍🏼
I been doing them for years now. Different workouts or exercises John posted or had in books. In a work of tiktok monkey see, monkey do, I like telling ppl that copy them from me or others doing them that the movement came from John.
