This guy was one of my favorite instructors at UTI and I always admired his relaxed style of teaching. There might be many ways to do it but he gives a beginner a great way to understand ways to do it in their driveways and I admire that!!!!! Keep it up Trevino!!! We love you in Mississippi!!!
Hi Tyson! Thank you for your kinds words. No, i left UTI about 5 years ago. I still love teaching, so I started a RUclips to help others do their own work. Much love 😊✌️💛
@@713jtmechanic8, Thanks for sharing your great experience and calm explanation of everything. The world need more people like you Sir. Also as I have MB W164 with same issues I must watch more of your videos for sure :) Thank you so very much and looking forward for your next videos. Regards, D
Could have undone upper ball joint and would have saved taking sway bar off to get the control arm off. It would have dropped outwards from the car on the lower joint and give plenty of space to inpact gun it off.
Lower ball joint can be removed without undoing the sway bar and lower arm. Just support the jack at the lower arm, loose off the upper ball joint nut, drive shaft nut, brake caliper, tierod and loose the lowerball joint nut about 90%. Push the shaft in from the hub then loose the lower ball joint nut completely and pull the hub.
This... is not how I did it. 24mm spanner worked fine, just put a jackstand underneath to keep pressure on the bolt so it doesn't start to move. Mine was stubborn so I had to push the axle through to get space for the torx 45 bit to hold the bolt from the top. Held it with wise grips while wrenching the nut.
Only way I was able break loose lower ball joint. The bolt was on very tight open end wrench was spreading and the wrench is a snap on wrench. I had to lower control arm to gain access to nut of lower ball joint.
Awesome Video and thank you. I will be ordering parts today or tomorrow for this job. Replacing Control arms and ball joints. What Manufacture for ball joints did you use and are they holding up? I'm considering using Delphi Technologies or Lemforder. From FCP Euro. Thanks again.
@@713jtmechanic8 Thanks, I had the Lemforder Sway bar End links and the ball joints were loose, Brand new. But I guess they are OEM so I should stick with them. I had bought the Delphi upper Control arms and the Ball joints are tight. so It's a toss up.
@@tomb375 Delphi’s work well. Reason I went with Lemforder, a college Mercedes instructor told me that’s the manufacture that makes certain Mercedes parts for their assembly.

Concise, clear and helpful. Thank you for this video it helped me!

done many times upper control arm bolt, remove driveshaft then plenty access with wrench, infact just done today so that I could replace bearings
Does anyone know if you need a press to replace the ball joint? Or how do they come out?

Correction: There is only on steel shim for lower control arm.
Great video, looks like the Milwaukee impact tool is almighty.
Yes, I’m impressed with the power of the Milwaukee impact. Highly recommend it.

Thank you for the positive feedback. I used Lemforder from FCP Euro. Most of their parts have a lifetime warranty
Parts are still holding up.

@echanic8 Thanks For the Tip will do the Lemforder. Especially for the control arms! I'll give them another shot! I have to do the Lower one's.
I love this game ❤
