This one didn't age nearly as well as "sledgehammer." I saw a post where someone said.. they loved how great Gabriel could write something as awesome as Mercy Street and something as groovy as this... Such a true statement... Peter Gabriel has been my favorite musician as long as I can remember.. As for the groove.. Tony Levin never disappoints. His work on this groove or even what he did with Don't give up adds so much depth to the work period..
It's a very creative, symbolic and clever video with a devious occultic tone to it! I think people don't appreciate all the work needed to do these things, especially back then when there were less tools... I had this album on CD when it was released...
I just find it so interesting that so much work back merely two working its way to three decades ago produced what we could now produce in mere hours with dirt cheap software and half the 3D design knowledge. Technology has really come a long way.

This is my favorite era of computer animation. Looks cool without trying to look too real.
Peter Gabriel is awesome
I. LOVE. This. We used to put it on repeat in my camp kitchen and all of my staff would join me in dancing around the worktable while we prepped food. Fun, fun, fun.

Love your animations and your good taste, man.
(Also, a G-Man version of 3:24 would be trascendental)

Peter Gabriel is one of the greatest musicians of all-time with amazing videos in history!!! ✌️🎸
Hi I recommend a song called 'The Bond Villain' By Robert Nix
For years this was the theme song of NPR's show "1A with Tom Ashbrook"
This always plays in my Head when there is a Steam Sale.
Surrealism: trademark of Peter Gabriel.
absolutely!
e peter ele não respeita ninguém
Mans a genius or genesis!!!!
let's just say his genius was the genesis of eclectic Music Video.
Cutting edge stuff, even today...
Owsley Stanley died, he was the man.
Mark Wright Genesis is also great
I see what you did there .
Everytime i see that purple suit and those platform shoes i just lose it lnao!! God, we knew how to have fun back then it was the greatest of times
30 years ago and oddly it is still captivating and interesting and artistic! Nothing is like this today after how far have we come?

The most hilarious PG video to one of his best songs ever! It's a goddamned laugh riot!!! I miss Peter Gabriel....
What do you mean? He’s still alive!
@@OtisNotibrus Oh yes
He isn't in England.
@@astridsegall6013 Reckon he's around, and if you went and stood on Kelston Stump and shouted very very loudly ....he might shout back.
@@astridsegall6013 yes, he lives in England:-)
What a perfect song and what a great singer.Even at this very moment !
If you’re still loving this in 2020, you got good taste in 80s music and with Peter Gabriel
This was 1992. Slightly later than the 80s.
This is 90’s
I’m a 14 year old girl and have loved his music for awhile. I’m happy my parents introduced me to good music
Didn't Peter Gabriel play this at one of the Oscars? Or maybe the Grammys? I just remember this big production number with flames and smoke.
70,80s and 90s music rule compared to todays music ! Stay Safe ...
I didn't realize Peter Gabriel was Dr. Grant from Jurassic Park. But man what a great song and video!
I saw a post where someone said.. they loved how great Gabriel could write something as awesome as Mercy Street and something as groovy as this... Such a true statement... Peter Gabriel has been my favorite musician as long as I can remember.. As for the groove.. Tony Levin never disappoints. His work on this groove or even what he did with Don't give up adds so much depth to the work period..
How much I love Peter's voice, so unique.
holy jesus this is the most psychedelic trip i ever had when i am sober.
Baahahahaaa!!!! :)
It's a very creative, symbolic and clever video with a devious occultic tone to it! I think people don't appreciate all the work needed to do these things, especially back then when there were less tools... I had this album on CD when it was released...
Love that it's about a chick that thinks she's the shit.
well i mean the imagery in the video as much as the song lyrics, alchemical symbolism in it....whether that was intended or not i don't know
I just find it so interesting that so much work back merely two working its way to three decades ago produced what we could now produce in mere hours with dirt cheap software and half the 3D design knowledge. Technology has really come a long way.
jr540123 Welcome to the 90's.
I guess I'm too young to understand it. Cuz...I just saw some artsy stuff that I'm trying to piece together. Now if you'll excuse me, I must listen to shock the monkey
You gotta be impressed at the compositing and graphic work here considering the time period.
"Peter, we have this amazing new animation technology for your next video."
Peter: "MAKE ME A TRAIN"
"What........?"
Peter: "PUT MY FACE ON A TRAIN!"
Cooper Stone Peter the tank engine
Is it odd that he looks even better as a train then he does as a human?
Ok, Now make me a chair!
Love the effects a train!! Yes!! So steam baby ...all aboard this crazy train ha ha lovin it.
PETER GABRIEL IS ALL CAPS ALL THE TIME
This is a Forever ❤❤❤
#PeterGabriel #Steam #80sMusic ..still loving this in 2023 with the awesome old school music power of classic MTV.. if you're still loving this, you've got good taste in music like this.
NOW THIS IS A MASTERPIECE
it has always been)
Same. Its like a 90s version of Sledgehammer. What a genius Peter Gabriel is. There is no musician as talented as him.
Peter has the most weirdest music videos ever and the best music videos ever
'70s Peter Gabriel: "I'm gonna use my music and flair for creative stage presence to bring attention to causes I believe in."
'80s/'90s Peter Gabriel: "DEAR GOD I GOTTA GET LAID"
Troy Thomas Wasn't it the other way round?
Don't forget 00s
@@mthbinder1975 It seesawed.
Yup that is a good way to put it.
He done Kate Bush tho didn't he ?
Believe it or not this was bleeding edge back in the day. Still a great video.
Peter Gabriel is amazing. His music is so good and he is so creative.
Peter Gabriel's videos always make me smile
I can remember calling the radio station Many times when this song came out. I even wrote the lyrics on my tee-shirt back then .THIS MANS MUSIC IS SO MEMERABLE, ICONIC AND NASTALGIC LOVE, LOVE , LOVE PETER GABRIEL ❤💕
